It wasn't crowded and we were able to stay at least 20 feet away from each other as of May 4, 2020. My toddler enjoyed walking in the sand barefoot and picking up empty shells and dried seaweed. Street parking was also free & easy to find on a overcast Saturday night. We enjoy the scenic drive going leading to the beach. We also did some boardwalk walking & saw some guys fishing. Sometimes the term Village Park also locally refers to West Harbor Beach which has a memorial park and is 1mi southwestwest of this one and on W Harbor Dr not Bayville Ave. My primary memory of this beach upon last visit 8y ago for wedding photos is its stillness. At the time, its famously large parking lot was 1/8th under construction, but even then the large lot was expansive with only 8 of its 300+ spots occupied on a weekday afternoon. The beach has LI Sound on the north and Oyster Bay on the south along a strip of land only a few dozen feet wide, a precious connection with the idyllicly insular, posh, largely gated isolated estates beyond with the island's own police force conspicuously posted at the only chokepoint entry. It's mostly low slung sand dunes, all environmentally sensitive so tread with care, with the usual tender grasses poking through and some barer patches of grass and dried flattened brush. A few hiking trails a few minutes long are on the far western and eastern peripheries. There's a large football field right of entrance used by Falcon Pride for local school sports programs. Two basketball courts are left of entrance. An annual summer festival uses this parking lot which is the largest public such in the area. All maintenance and conditions are prime and peak. The photography day's other stops were nearby Central Island Beach across Oyster Bay and Planting Fields Arboretum also in Oyster Bay. All are highly recommended for which I posted reviews.

We were scheduled from 4:30-6:30pm but ended up staying until just after dusk because it was that good. The back picnic tables made the perfect setup for deep conversations, games, and even s'mores by the grill. A few of us took a walk down to the water and got in plenty of steps--it was totally worth it for the views! I'd love to come back and check out The Salt Shack next time. On a quick walkthrough, I noticed how beautifully it was decorated, and the staff I met were so friendly. Even from the picnic area, we could hear and enjoy the live music, which was such a fun bonus. I was also surprised to see their full volleyball tournament setup--it turns out a friend of mine was even competing that same day! Cedar Beach really has something for everyone, and I can't wait to return.

There is a long path that leads through the Salt Shack (always wanted to eat there but it was way too early to pop in for a meal) and out into the beach. The beach was quiet but the lifeguards were out. We let Bubs run around in the sand before leaving. I did see a bit of garbage on the beach...people please clean up after yourselves. But yes, we love the beaches on LI and we have our favs. This is one of them, but if you're not a resident of the town you will pay a ton to park and for a pass. I think they stop charging after a certain time. But if you want to go for a beach day, it's worth it if you pack the car and go!

The pool club is amazing , it's like you're at a resort . They have a kiddie section with water buckets and palm trees and two big water slides , the main pool area is huge and so clean, they have plenty of umbrellas and canopy's, as well as lounge chairs . Their food section is great as well, standard beach food like chicken fingers , hot dogs , burgers stuff like that . We love it there . We will continue to sign up every year it's worth it .

Caution: there are strong currents here, with an offshore sand bar and you could get caught in a rip current quickly without even realizing it (happened to me). You should check out this awesome beach by foot not parking and getting charged or asked for a permit. Walking is the best exercise and you can discover all types of beautiful beaches!!
