Discovered this park when my son was a toddler (3), & moved here when he was 5 . I spent many, many days here with him, my mom just enjoying the trail and sunset and ice cream. Was a vendor several years at the (huge) Summer artisan craft show- when it only cost $35 to exhibit - now its like $150.. I've had a few picnics and dates mixed in. My son is now 33 And the park looks pretty much the same as first time I laid eyes on it. Kiddos can still play in sandbox & shimmy down the mini fireman pole..adjacent to the swingset..I would even come here- and ride my bicycle in rings around the lake ( 1.5 miles =1 lap)..doing laps & hustle my ride back up to Belmont Lake in N.Babylon..such good, great times. Also a great location for wedding parties - so parking can be tight. My fav memory is , when on a date, my son ( @7) accompanied me, my date & his dog, a female springer spaniel. Alongside the lake my son leaned in and whispered to the dog. I didn"t know what it was till later. He told her to jump in the lake - and she DID! It was like a comedy scene out of a Woody Allen movie..Trying to get the dog out - who was now chasing the ducks in water- my son laughing ! We finally cajole the dog out- now sopping wet . I was yelling at my son as we retreated to the south end of park - to dry off the dog- and 2- to ESCAPE the Killer Swans who were NOW chasing us all- down the path & trying NOT to get bitten. Somehow we outran them and we collapsed onto the benches & called it a day. This still brings smiles & laughs when we revisit the park. No the date didn't work out- but the laughter remains. :) Best time is at sunset..I loved coming here in Summer with a date, have a sunset picnic, some wine & enjoy the beauty. The park does close at sunset- but it is God's real gift to share. . read more

We were in the area & decided to have a quick stop to check this park. We didn't have trouble finding parking on a Saturday afternoon. This is a small, quiet park overlooking the water. We enjoyed watching some ducks, geese & butterflies. Also some guys fishing. Very chill place, perfect for an afternoon of sunning, reading or quiet relaxation. read more

An adorable park located in the heart of Babylon. With a nice view of a little pond there's plenty of places to sit and during the summer Mr.Softee stand by waiting to serve. The only downside to this park is there is always an engagement shoot, prom shoot, some sort of photo shoot happening on the grounds and it's always awkward for everyone involved. You don't wanna get in the shot and you also want to walk on the path, it's rough. Parking lot is super small, so if you're willing and able to I recommend parking down the road or in the back lot and walking. It gives you time to look at the shops on Main Street as well! It's a very nice park and always has a lot of people but it's a very nice place for a walk. read more

For many years this was a popular destination for us because it is a beautiful spot and it is dog friendly. The walk around the lake is about a mile, with well groomed paths, and lots of bird life to enjoy. On the far side there are a number of houses placed there to make you envious. There is a tree that was seemingly damaged in a storm, and it hangs almost horizontal over the water. Year after year. As you get to the south end there is a spectactular structure with an active spillway, a favorite of wedding parties for years. The only down side is the small parking lot. If you fail to get a spot, you're in for some serious plan B. Otherwise, this is a marvelous place, especially for dog lovers. read more

While the path around the water makes for a great stroll, the playground area leaves much to be desired. Took my young daughters, both 3 & under here to spend a nice summer afternoon. Unfortunately the playground itself is geared for at least ages 3+ minus the one baby swing so my youngest was left with not many options. The playground needs to be cleaned more frequently as well since the rock wall stones are covered in bird/duck poop. The entire area is not shaded so the slides get too hot to use in the summer Sun. And to top it off, the only restroom option is a porta-potty. All in all, don't come for the playground, take a walk around the lake instead. read more

So many "nooks and crannies" here on LI to discover, so little time!! I grew up here on Long Island, not far at all from Babylon, but had never been to or even heard of this park before this past weekend. Truthfully, if we hadn't gotten some (slightly incorrect) information about a weekend festival taking place there, I'm not sure I ever would have gone, and that would have been sad!! Actually, we got bad information, and the festival that we thought would be both Saturday and Sunday was only on Sunday, but I think it worked out for the best... Might have missed Sunday's Babylon Country Festival, but we "discovered" a much calmer, less crowded town park on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and pretty much had it all to ourselves!! Not a ton to do here, but that's the bonus!! Walk, run, bike along the lake, people watch, take a ton of pictures, let your kids play for a while on the (tiny!!) playground, or a combination of all of those!! There are some AMAZING houses bordering the park on the opposite side of the lake... Wow!! I'm sure there are plenty of special events here throughout the season, has been commented on in other reviews, is the tight, TINY parking lot. If you know the area, I'm sure you're aware of all the "secret" spots to park, probably best idea would be right at the local high school next door (??) but other than that parking issue, and maybe the lack (??) of restroom facilities, we enjoyed our visit, and hope to return one day soon... read more

This park has so many different types of birds and they are all so clam when seeing human walking around. The path around the lake is stroller friendly and easy to walk, however, there is very limited shade here. The park has a small playground for little kids. I give it a 4-star because it does not have enough benches and the limited shade in the park. read more

This long standing park is nice, there's water and it drops into more water, that always turns people's eyes. Bring a penny, make a wish, walk around the big ol' pond. I'm more of a preserve/arboretum/wooded trails kind of guy but this place is good after a big yummy meal in Babylon to help digest and walk off that fat belly feeling. If you want, you can take the long wooded bridal path to/from this park and all the way into Belmont lake state park. Beware, Pokémon is apparently still a thing grown men hunt for in this park, it's a major hotspot; when walking you can avoid them or the geese poop, your call. Beautiful lake and nice path. It's a very small park, but "ok" for a quick walk. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because of the amount of geese poo ALL OVER the place. There are portions of the walking path that look like dozens of people left their dog poo in piles. Yes, it's that bad. If that gets cleaned up, it would warrant more stars. read more

This is a review of the "so called parking attendant" ONLY, NOT the park itself. This park is no doubt beautiful. I would have loved to take in the beauty and spend about an hour here. But a lot has changed. And I'm NOT pleased with it. I couldn't stay like I wanted to because some guy in a white Chevy SUV tells me I have to pay for parking. I've been going there for 3 years in spring/summer and never once have I had to pay for parking!!! You're not going to tell me that someone has been monitoring this lot ALL along. Absolutely NOT. The past 3 years NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON has ever asked me to pay for parking, nor have I found a parking violation ticket on my windshield. If they were enforcing this rule all along, then obviously we would have found parking tickets on our windshield. But this is something new and they're trying to tell you that it's "always" been like this. So I called the Babylon village. Because I wanted to see if this guy was legit or not. Babylon village said he was legit. He didn't hit me off as a legit person. He hit me off as a scammer. There was NO MARKINGS on his WHITE CHEVY SUV that said "Babylon Village" or "Parking Attendant" NOTHING. I asked him "who do I pay?" And he said "you pay me" I even asked how long as this been in effect and he said "always you just never read the sign" the guy was so rude!!! This was 10am! This guy was unbelievably rude! NEVER ONCE telling me who he was or why I needed to pay for parking, just telling me that "it's $3 to park" "you pay me" "It's always been like this" and "you just never read the sign". There is one SMALL sign in this lot that is connected to the adjacent lot, there are NO OTHER signs in this one lot. So it's VERY MISLEADING if this lot is also a paid lot. However anyone GIVING this man money without him telling you who he is, that's how people get ripped off. Put a sticker on the vehicle that says Babylon Village! There was NOTHING on the sides of the vehicle. The parking "attendant" NEEDS to tell people who he is not just ask for money! And he certainly should NOT be accusing people of not knowing how to read. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! He was NOT wearing a uniform of any sort. He was just wearing a grey t-shirt. He NEVER told me who he was. He NEVER identified himself. He just kept asking for money. He just kept insisting that I didn't know how to read. He got VERY DEFENSIVE and VERY ANGRY when I started asking questions. UNPROFESSIONAL! Because of this particular guy, I will NEVER come back to this park again. I do NOT trust him. ANYONE can sit in the lot in their vehicle and ask people to pay for parking. Greatest scam ever. IDENTIFY YOURSELF! BE POLITE! If you're going to charge for parking then I suggest it gets done the right way. ONE WAY IN and ONE WAY OUT with someone sitting by the gate to collect a parking fee. This is just bad business in my opinion. I am NOT paying for something that I've always been able to go for free because this guy was never around collecting parking fair. I know because I've been a regular patron of this park for 3 years during spring and summer. Never once have I encountered this guy or anyone before collecting a parking fee. Needless to say I won't be back. I don't believe in paying for something that I've gotten for free. The one lot used to be free. There's also no street parking. And the parking lot near the playground is always full as it's small. The are NOT signs everywhere. Just for the one small lot that is in direct access to the train station. read more

Love this park. Not secluded. Decent amount of parking. They have a playground. Very pretty Loop around it especially in the spring. The stairs surrounding the waterfall could be painted and redone. I love going to Parks, especially on a beautiful day. The scenery is nice and the environment is calming. It's a good way to relax or get in some good exercise without staring at numbers on a treadmill. I see people ride their bikes here too. I like to watch the ducks and the flowers are pretty. It's a dog friendly park so my twins love it and get their exercise too. They have doggie poop bags and garbages for disposal. There are benches for you to sit and relax. One of the best parks i know of. It's a beautiful spot with nice surroundings. The village is right down the street too which is a plus. the park itself consists of a big lake, a nice walking path around the whole lake, a playground for kids, a few concrete tables and also a waterfall. the parking is limited in the front of the park but there's also side parking by the daycare, next to the fire station which brings you to another entrance of the park. definitely the #1 spot to play pokémon go. many pokestops and you'll get your eggs hatched in no time. also, dog friendly which is also a really good thing. read more

Wish they had an actual bathroom to use instead of that port-a-potty. During the summer there's an ice cream truck that visits often. Just remember to watch your step when walking. It's kinda fun watching pokemon players be surprised when they slide a bit from mindlessly using their cell phones like walking zombies and then slide a bit and wake up. Oh and the left side by the houses is the worst when muddy, slip and slide for sure! Then there's the dog poop where people don't bother picking up after. It's so pretty here, it's a great place to take a walk around the pond. There's ducks, a train that passes through, & for how nice it is, it doesn't get too crowded. There's also benches around & a grass area. Last time I was there, there was an ice cream truck in the lot. read more

Lovely park , dog friendly , really nice man made lake to walk . Just one thing I wish is that ALL dog owners pick up after there dogs . Most do but always a few that don't care . It hard to find a dog friendly park on LI so hope they will pick it up ! read more
