We won a half day fishing trip during a silent auction fund raiser for St. James High School. It…read morewas a chilly 50° when my son and I headed out from Murrells Inlet public launch ramp with Capt. Ned. We were on, I believe, about a 30 foot boat which would hold 6 fishermen plus crew. Capt. Ned is a native here and has been fishing these waters his entire life. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He took the time to watch and assist us with hints on improving our fishing style or lack there of! The water was a bit rough with 4 - 5 foot swells, so we were really rocking. But he tried a couple of his favorite spots and set us up to minimize the waters attempt to make us become chum buckets. Then the Black Drum fish started hitting. We also got a Red Drum fish but had to throw it back because it was too big, it is a breeder. We also got a nice Seatrout. Overall, it was a great trip with a nice catch (see pics) and a really good captain. Will definitely go out with them agsin.

Orvis is well organized and well stocked with everything from men's and women's clothes to hunting and fishing supplies for outdoor activities to a pet supply section of doggie treats, beds, toys, balls, leashes and collars. This location had a very large pet section which I loved. They are also pet friendly and welcomed in the store. Also, I love how they feature the dogs they were adopted. Definitely check them out. This one still has pretty much everything you need for camping , hunting , and fishing. They even have Boats , ATVs , and Side by Sides. The store is clean and well organized and the staff were friendly. I bought 2 Redhead camouflage shirts that were on sale for $12.99. Of course they had lots of camouflage coats , pants , hats , and gear to choose from. They sell pistols , rifles , shotguns , archery equipment , fishing rods and reels to include fly fishing gear. If you need a new grill or smoker they have them too. Bbq sauces , rubs , cast iron skillets , cooking utensils , you know the drill. They also have old fashioned candies and moon pies for the kids.
