This is one AWESOME place to go to about guns, classes and shooting range. I have not been in a…read morefriendlier gun store and I have been in quite a few in different States. The place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. The parking space is really small. And the neighborhood looks like you may need to be armed. But trust me all of that is truly nitpicky after you get to meet the crew. I haven't fired a firearm in over 10 years and needed to finally get a Texas license. I was immediately welcomed as I came in and it wasn't a plastic "Welcome to WalMart" welcome. I walked around looking at their guns and accessories and their lanes. I was surprised on how many lanes they had. I was still a bit nervous when a female a manager started to talk to me. (Man I really feel like a dummy for not remembering her name. I think it was Sonia). She calmed my nerves and asked all the appropriate questions. She took her time and answered everyone to my satisfaction. I told her that I signed up for their Saturday class but once again told her I was nervous about the required time sequence for the shooting portion. She then told me that I could come back any time before Saturday and that their instructor Nelson would teach me and prepare me for the test. I came the next day and I met with Nelson. Remember that name: NELSON!! He took his time in giving me very clear instructions and told me that if I followed his instructions I could ace the shooting portion. He then tested me and I actually got a 100% score!! This guy is truly AMAZING!!! As I was leaving he reminded me that my lane rental, which included ear and eye protection, was available for the day. I went back with my two 9mm handguns and blew the bulls eye out. Mark my words: I will not go anywhere else but to Marksman Indoor Range. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Next step is that AR-15. That will be for another review.

I am a mature gun owner. I've owned guns since I was 8 years old and I enjoy them just as much now…read morein the twilight of my life as I ever did. Bought my first AR 15. Became somewhat knowledgeable about AR 15s through extensive Internet browsing (mfgers websites, AR 15 forums, etc.). Caught the AR 15 bug somewhere along the line; they just look like fun! I had the BEST local gun store experience EVER in my life at Class 3 Weapons. John was walking by on a "paperwork mission" as he put it. His store is neat and clean and full of tempting ways to empty your checking and savings account. He immediately stopped what he was doing to help me look at rifles. Most stores I have visited in the past have ignored me until I practically had to tackle someone to get any service. Not John. John patiently and expertly shared his knowledge of AR 15s with me. He showed me his stock and listened as I explained what I thought I wanted. He steered me to the wall where the two best choices for me were hanging. He went over details of both and corrected some misconceptions I had picked up on the Internet (Gee, you mean the Internet isn't always right?). When he finished his explanation, I clearly understood my choices. John had a special going (big shipment had just arrived) and the price he charged was $500 less than the price I had seen on Internet online gun sale sites. The mfger also was offering a $45 coupon rebate. Other customers approached him and he asked them to wait but since they wanted simple, quick services, I told John to go ahead and wait on them. He came back to me each time. I never had to chase him down. He spent as much time as I wanted and needed to be confident in my purchase and never once flashed impatience at me. Their store is conveniently located on a major street on the north side of Houston in an industrial area. His shop is new and neat and clean and orderly. No rat's nest of parts. John told me he was not the best place to purchase all the AR 15 accessories as he primarily sells rifles and pistols. He suggested several area stores where I could find what I needed. I am hard to impress. I was impressed after my first visit to Class 3 Weapons. I went intending to continue my AR 15 research and education and came home the proud owner of a new rifle. Now, off to the range!
