Not usually one to take the time to give a negative yelp review but it felt necessary. I was very clearly shorted on the amount of sod that I ordered. I checked my square footage multiple times and I overestimated purposely to make sure I had coverage. I called to let them know that I was shorted by roughly 300 square ft and they told me that I was wrong it was all there with the only quality assurance being a picture of stacked sod on pallets in my driveway. They refused to send someone out to do the math with me and basically washed their hands of it. On top of all of that the women I dealt with were terrible, talking to me with a condescending tone, laughing and most importantly trying to convince me that it's impossible for the amount to be off based off an eye test of a photo taken by a driver that in no way confirms the actual amount of rolls on each pallet. Seems to me they don't care about the average small customer being that they serve all the big fish in this area too. read more

At first I was hesitant to buy from here because the ladies seemed to be too busy to speak to me when I walked in to their office.. after a brief moment of silence and waiting for no one else in front of me.. they ask can we help you.. lol yes please.. after small talk decided to just keep the peace And started asking away with all the basic questions (price, availability, Types) and so on. This is my second time ordering sod through WCT. Delivery went well and sod was immediately installed. Grass seem to be good but the bottom layer seemed dried out and after installing the pieces from the bottom layer turned brown. Maybe I got a bad batch this time but the last time sod was great. I guess I'll give it time to see if grass develops. Wish I would of bought some seed for case like this. If grass grows then value is great if not I guess not so great. We placed two orders with West Coast Turf. The first order came 30 minutes late. We didn't think they were going to show up. A month later we placed a second order with them to finish covering sod in our yard. The company sent us a text to say the sod would be delivered between 9:30-11:30 on Saturday, August 31st. We were paying a landscaper to install the sod both times. We tried calling West Coast Turf at least 10 times to leave a message or try all the options to reach someone but you can't even leave a message at their business when they are closed and they have no emergency phone number or any number to get a hold of the delivery driver. They had already charged us but it seemed there would be no delivery. We were about ready to send our landscaper home when the truck finally showed up two hours late! I was so upset because now it was over 100 degrees outside as it was 1:30 in the afternoon. The driver wasn't even at our house ten minutes to deliver our two pallets. How is he two hours late? What did he do with that time? I asked him why he was two hours late, and he said he was busy and smiled. I thought that was so disrespectful. He didn't' t care that we were paying someone to install our sod, or that he delivered in the heat of the day or that he was even two hours late. Why couldn't the driver at least take a minute to call us as our number is on the invoice he gave us to keep us in the loop? Right, they have our money, and they don't care! My husband and I just called them today, Monday Aug 2nd as we couldn't leave a message since Saturday. Andrea who transferred us to the Store Manager, Scott, didn't care about us at all or our late delivery. Instead he said he had been doing this business for 25 years and this is how they do it. Scott said they can't guarantee a time due to traffic, or holds up from another customer to his driver. Really? You can't call your customers? Scott also said that his drivers don't speak English and wouldn't understand us. How convenient for him. Also, that dispatch, schedules the route. We felt he should offer a discount on our order due to the way they handled it. Scott, gave us every reason he could to tell us why he couldn't. I asked him to give us the owners number to talk to him/them. He said they don't take phone calls. Scott is not a humble man, as he doesn't see how his antiquated system has failed us. He, nor his company, is not responsible or at fault for anything. He so couldn't be further from the truth. He never apologized or felt he should. What kind of customer service is this? read more

Last week I pre ordered 650 sq. ft. of sod from West Coast Turf to pick up on Saturday. I knew they opened at 7am on Saturdays and I wanted to be the first in line so I arrived at 6:40am. The forklift guy was sitting in his pickup truck and 3 minutes after I arrived he got out, went and moved the flatbed trailer with the pallets of sod out from the covered area. He then brought out the forklift, I gave him my order papers, he then loaded a pallet of sod on my trailer then helped me hand load the 30 extra pieces of sod. I was driving away at 7:01 am . I am not commenting on their product but their business morals. We live in Culver City and there are permit hours. 8 am is when contractors and vendors can start working. Well, West Coast Vendor decided at 6:55am they should deliver an order of sod. My neighbor thought there was an earthquake with the noise the simitruck made parking in front of their home, then the worker drives to the house in front of ours to deliver the product. He is in a small pitchforked vehicle. The vehicle is very loud and he proceeds to shake the chainlink fence to try to open it. IT'S LOCKED! IT'S 7AM. Then he proceeds to drop off the product and make 3 more trips to the corner than back to drop off more stuff. When I came down and said something to him, he just pointed to his watch. I think they are the only sod supplier in the area. Unfortunately their customer service is horrible. I ordered my Sod had it installed and within a few weeks it was so contaminated with other grass that I have to rip it up and start over. I called and of course they place blame on everybody else. Picked up sod in Winchester end of June, put it in and it looked beautiful. It soon started getting brown spots so I watered it more. We had brown worms and green worms everywhere. They came in the sod. 2/3 of my sod looks really bad now and I plan to replace it. I have treated it and I no longer have worms, but looks really bad. read more

I've been waiting 6 weeks for the turf. Every time I call back they tell me "two more weeks." I understand the turf needs to be healthy when they cut it, but would appreciate a much better estimate. Just tell me it will take 8 to 12 weeks, so I can plan for it. I've graded all my topsoil and now weeds are starting to sprout. 2 weeks is way off! read more

I ordered St Augustine Sod from a vendor of this grass. The grass did not arrive at its scheduled time. The grass arrived early in the morning and was left with out notifying us. The grass was dead, dried out, and infested with white grub. There was also Bermuda grass in it as well as clovers and weeds. They tried to tell me that the grass was dormant. They wouldn't pick it up and didn't make plans to make me happy. They just told me it was dormant. It was dead! I had to install it since I already paid for labor. The reps for this vendor: AG Organic were combative and doubted my integrity. They wanted to charge me for this grass and turned it all around on me. This is the worst product I have bought in my entire life. I would have been better off going with seed. The grass looks horrible and I have had to water, spray pesticides, and weed and pull grub out of each piece. They still insist that the grass is dormant. At least admit you were wrong!!! Had a delivery scheduled today by my landscaper which was supposed to arrive at 9 AM. Arrived over 4 hours late and install is now pushed back a day. Grass was installed today and looks TERRIBLE. Almost entirely yellow. This is the worst sod I have ever seen. Lawn looks like it is 10 years old and fried instead of fresh new sod.
