At face value Moon Valley Nurseries prices seem a bit higher than some of their competitors. However, when you consider that they offer free delivery, free planting, they haul away all of the trash and debris for free, and how knowledgeable and helpful they are, I think they are offering great products at an incredible value. Needed to have a queen palm tree replaced. Moon valley had a perfect replacement tree for us. We had them remove the old tree. That went very well. The crew that came out to remove the tree was very professional and took their time to ensure the job was done safely. I watched the whole thing and each crew member wore the appropriate PPE and left the site as they found it. The crew that came out to install the tree was awesome as well. Antonio was very nice, professional and communicative. He and his crew did an amazing job installing our new palm tree in a fairly tough location. There plants are top quality and the price reflects it. I purchase the guarantee. That aspect has been disappointing. You will have to schedule it yourself, and book many months ahead of time. I want to preface this review by saying that I have never been one to write reviews--positive or negative--online before, but I truly regret doing business with this company. I bought several costly trees from their Murrieta nursery in September 2023 and was so excited by the prospect of having the garden I've been dreaming about for decades. While I understood that Moon Valley Nursery's (MVN) pricing is higher than other places, the representatives there assured me that the higher cost reflects the higher quality of their product and customer service. Generally, I don't mind paying a bit more for a high-quality product if it means that I won't have to worry about it down the line. However, several of these so-called high-quality trees perished less than two years later. They sent an inspector to investigate what had gone wrong. The inspector concluded that the trees were diseased and overwatered. These trees are on the same watering cycle as all my other trees (see photos). MVN installed all these trees in the same area and set up the drip system for them, so how are some dying of overwatering while others are thriving? Furthermore, I firmly believe that MVN engages in deceptive pricing. They establish an outrageous "regular" price and then claim they are offering it at half-price to lure people into thinking they're getting a good deal. On any given day, a customer can walk onto the MVN site and be greeted by a flyer/price tag (photo attached) with an exorbitant regular price noted and a 'sale' price listed alongside it. It's an unethical, borderline criminal way of doing business, but they've been getting away with it for a long time. In addition to their exorbitant pricing, MVN customers should expect to pay hundreds more for "extended warranties" and trip charges. Given that MVN is a large, well-established corporation, one would think they would stand by their products and replace them, regardless of whether or not they were under warranty, especially in a situation like this, where half of my trees from and planted by them are fine, and the other half (in the same spot and on the same drip system) are dead. Instead, management declared that the trees were "out of warranty" and blamed me for not continuing to buy extended warranties, supposedly overwatering the trees, and not having a "green thumb." Then, to add insult to injury, they said the absolute best they could do was offer a half-price replacement, another trip charge, and another chance at their extended warranties--all while acting as if they were extending me a favor. In short, MVN's "high-quality" products and customer service are a sham, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
