WCWMA is an exceptional karate school that has had a profound impact on our family. My daughter began her journey here four years ago and my son three years ago--both recently earned their black belts, and we could not be prouder. The instructors are highly dedicated, patient, and genuinely kind. Beyond teaching karate, they instill confidence, discipline, respect, and kindness in every child. This school creates a supportive environment where kids grow not only as martial artists, but as individuals. If you are looking for a place that truly invests in your child's character and confidence, this is one of the best schools you will find. Highly recommended. read more

WCWMA is the best Martial Arts school in the Bay Area. The instructors at all the Campbell Location are amazing, patient, can be firm, but kind and will really push you to give 100%. Grand Master Ernie Reyes is incredibly inspirational, KJN Margie is so kind, KJN Daniel is awesome and a master teacher in every sense of the word, KJN Hector is SO fun and KJN Joao wonderful and we are truly thrilled when he comes in to guest teach. My son started in the Little Dragon program right before COVID when he was 4 years old at the Santa Clara location. We moved and switched schools to Campbell and it was the best decision. Our son LIVES for Kids Night Out, the Easter parties and all of the fun events. He has grown so much physically, spiritually and mentally in his 6 years with this association and is thrilled to now be a black belt! The class times are flexible and the XPT class is awesome and teaches the fun tricking and weapons techniques. We have made so many parent friends and Tristan and his little brother have made so many friends with the students. WCWMA Campbell is one big family of wonderful people. I made the best decision by having my children enroll! You get your moneys worth! I love the hours, and flexibility they offer. We can go up to 3x a week isn't that awesome? It sure is for us! I see such a difference in my children since they have started, both are more focused, motivated and excited. All the staff are so wonderful and kind and I like how patient they are with all the kids. If you're skimming reviews, then I'll just say that my family is grateful to have West Coast World Martial Arts in Campbell (WCWMA-Campbell) in our lives. Background - It was happenstance that we came across WCWMA-Campbell. At the time, our young son's Southwest YMCA summer camp was to go to a martial arts business across the street from WCWMA-Campbell. However, there was some scheduling conflict between the YMCA people and the studio across the street. The summer camp instructors noticed WCWMA-Campbell across the street and decided to inquire about availability. Luckily, WCWMA-Campbell was able to take the kids. The little ones started working toward earning their white belt in a ceremony at the end of the week. Our son liked the experience, so we asked him if he wanted to continue. He said, "Yes," so we signed him up. Our son went on to earn a 2nd-Degree Black Belt. Along the way, my wonderful wife decided she would like to start taking classes, too. She's now a 5th-Degree Black Belt. Now, whenever I travel, I always like to have at least one Black Belt with me. (-: I'm grateful for the things WCWMA-Campbell brought to our family: 1. Improved self-confidence 2. A sense of belonging 3. A sense of achievement 4. Discipline and focus 5. Enhanced self-esteem Plus, the WCWMA-Campbell community is wonderful, welcoming, and inspiring. I recommend giving them a try. They have programs for kids, teens, and adults. read more

When my son started at West Coast Martial Arts at the age of six, I was primarily into kickboxing and hadn't considered other martial arts. Seeing how organized and effective the program was, my husband and I could easily imagine our son thriving. This family-like atmosphere and the program's structure tempted me to step into a new world I had never considered--training towards a black belt. I started as a white belt, drawn not only to the physical challenge but also to the core values of honor, loyalty, bravery, family, and love that were embodied by everyone at the dojo. These weren't just concepts; they were principles we lived by every day, pushing us to grow and embrace discipline in our pursuit of mastery. Progressing to a fourth-degree black belt has been a journey of personal and community growth, supported by mentors like Great Grand Master Ernie Reyes and dedicated peers. The skills I've learned here go beyond martial arts--they're life skills that have transformed my outlook and achievements. West Coast Martial Arts isn't just about learning to fight. It's about personal development, supporting each other, and being part of a community that values strength of character. From practicing techniques to helping organize school events, I've found incredible support and friendship here. Attached are photos marking key milestones in my martial arts journey--from my early days training with my son, to my second-degree black belt graduation, to celebrating my fifth-degree achievement with my team. Each image captures a step in a journey that has enriched my life deeply. If you're looking for more than just martial arts training, join us at West Coast Martial Arts. It's a place where every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger together. read more

We love WCWMA Campbell, this place is AMAZING! Our daughter started in March 2024 and although she was only 3 and half, she's thriving and developing confidence, discipline and physical endurance. The instructors are STELLAR. KJN Hector exudes a passion for martial arts and a deep love for teaching the little ones. He balances lots of fun and teaching skillful technique in a masterful way. Our daughter is 4 now and has progressed to the advanced little dragons and KJN Joao and Daniel have been wonderful and very encouraging. We've been so happy we found this karate studio and have forged great relationships with other students and their families. This studio is a total family-friendly environment, they have lots of fun events they put on for the community. We can't say enough positive things about WCWMA Campbell. It's the best!!! read more

My daughter has been enrolled for around 4 months now and she absolutely loves the classes. The instructors are caring and especially great with children, and is a big part of why my daughter (and other kids) love coming to class. My daughter has been attending West Coast Martial arts since she was 6 years old. She will be 15 this fall and the growth of maturity, responsibility, discipline, commitment, bravery, loyalty and self confidence has been a true gift to witness. I am forever grateful to both of her instructors KJN Daniel and KJN Joao. The amount of time and love they put into all of the kids (not just mine) is something that we could never repay. The impact they have on the students to believe in themselves, to have self love, self confidence and self respect ( both on and off the mat) is a life long gift that will forever shape the way the kids see themselves. Thank you to the West Coast family for all these years of valuable training...always grateful, The Wong family. read more

WCWMA Campbell has been a great experience for our family of four. We have collectively trained with the instructors for more than 5 years and have all attained 1st degree over the past 1.5 years. My kids enjoy training with their teammates and working with their teachers, learning new techniques and skills. As adults, my wife and I were given accommodations as we trained through injuries to keep pace with our teammates while always maintaining the standards of the association. It may look intimidating, but the family atmosphere is real and welcoming. KJN Margie, KJN Daniel, and KJN Joao push you to get past your own limits while passing on the skills and standards they were taught. read more

All this place and the instructors here seem to push you to sign up after the 10day trial rather than asking how your child is doing or enjoying the class. We only came to 4 classes, there are multiple classes going on, and they seem to only spend 15mins on karate moves and the classes were the same each time. So for being monogamous and pushy to sign up, I decided not to enroll my child. I can already see my child getting bored. read more

My almost 6 year old daughter started here on a special $49 for 6 weeks and you could go to 2-3 classes per week, gear included. It was almost too good to be true! I heard about it through a friend and her daughter was loving it, so I signed up my daughter right away. She had a blast! The instructors are amazing and so great with the kids. I agree with the goals and values they want to instill in the students as well. My daughter's 6 week trial is up tomorrow and in order to renew I have to pay $175 a month and buy a $30 patch for her uniform. Not only that, you have to pay for 6 months up front! How can the price over triple!? Of course now my daughter is hooked and loves it but I can't afford that, I don't think most people in this area can. Now she she has a broken heart because she really loved karate class here. I can't help but feel misled, I know that they did nothing wrong but I feel like the prices were so extreme. Super cheap and then super expensive for the exact same classes and instructors. When I started her there I made the wrong assumption that is would be affordable and didn't find out until much later that I was very much mistaken. Anyway, I really do love this place and so did my daughter but it is just too expensive. That is the literal only reason for 4 stars vs 5. read more

Amazing people, instructors, members of the community. Our son loves being part of his WCWMA family.

The best decision we made for both of our girls. Great school, amazing instructors who create safe and supportive environment in each class. Great investment in physical as well as mental development of your kids. The school gave another home and family for my kids! read more

I had 2 kids go there. Unless you are prepared to spend $20k don't sent your kids there. They promise 3 years for black belt. Once 4 years pass they let your kids test for black belt for $700 additional (each). Once the kids passed Black belt they make them do additional 6 months to prove that they are worthy of black belt. They never mentioned that in the beginning. Let me remind you. Each month is $250 minimum per kid. I had 2 kids in the program and it would have cost me additional $3000 just to confirm black belts they already earned. They don't even want to give you Black Belts you paid for. They won't give you promised embroidered Black Belts that you paid for. Oh yeah almost forgot... they have to celebrate birthday of Ernie Reyes each year and pay money to do so. They charge for every testing. They make you go to tournaments and charge for it monthly. If you can't go to tournaments you have to call off Wedding, Sickness and everything else on that weekend, because they threaten that your kids will be kicked out of black belt program. There is a fee for everything. Greedy people in the corporate world. Stay away from these people. Instructors are less than they seem and Margie is fake as is the whole setup. Some instructors are cool but everything is fake and about money. Kelly is the worst. She is responsible for payments and she will suck you dry. She charges your credit card even when she is not supposed to. BTW, one of my kids scored best in Black Belt testing within Utah, Arizona, California, Texas, etc. and they still didn't want to give them embroidered black belt, because they didn't stay additional 6 months. Do your research and talk to some exhausted parents before you decide. read more

We made it to blackbelt! Instructors Daniel, Joao, and Hector are exceptional instructors. They worked hard to keep the kids motivated and engaged during the pandemic, and I am really appreciative of that. The time of online classes gave my son some consistency/structure and something to look forward to, at a time of great uncertainty. In the blackbelt journey, students learn to set their goal, be consistent with training. It is a long journey, but the good character they develop is worth it. read more

all of the staff encourage a safe, but diligent training environment. it is an extremely inclusive school without sacrificing any of its values or integrity, in that the school emphasizes diligence, discipline and accountability. my kid has been coming for 3 years and was able to overcome fears of performing in front of large audiences by being trained to participate in tournaments with control and a strong mentality. in addition, of all the sports my kid participates in, this is the one that emerged as the favorite as far as the actual training and performance (tournaments, testing) go read more

Our daughter started her martial arts journey as a little dragon with the Campbell team at the height of the pandemic in 2020. Even when classes were on zoom at the time, the instructors were so engaging and outreaching to the kids. Once classes were back in person, our daughter wanted to continue to come here for her training due to the amazing head instructors KJNs Daniel, Joao, and Hector! The instructors truly make the classes fun, engaging and entertaining for the kids. More importantly, the instructors instill a growth mindset and encourages students to be their best potential. They want the best for the students and build them up physically and mentally. This is truly her martial arts tribe. The relationships and comradery that she has built here over the past 4 years is the reason why she continues to come here for training. There are numerous martial arts schools in our area, but we choose to drive 30-45 minutes each way for her martial arts training. It's worth it to be a part of this martial arts family and this community. Thank you, Campbell team! read more

I've been training at West Coast Martial Arts for over 20 years now. The Campbell school is the head quarters of the association with some of the best instructors around. It is amazing to watch the kids who grow up over the years and continue on with their martial arts - they simply become amazing. West Coast Martial arts is great for people of all ages. Two of my kids also trained with West Coast. One reason I had them enrolled was to teach them respect and discipline - learning martial arts was the added bonus. read more

My son who is 7, started here a couple months ago; An we love it! I like how you can chose what day you want to come during the week and the amount of times you can come. The instructors are great and work with all ages very well. The Initial one on one training for an introduction was a great foot in the door. My son walked in saying let's go I don't want to do this, once he finished his one on one he begged to come back. I was very impressed with how well my sons listens an pays attention; since this is a struggle for him. I'm seeing a great change in his behavior. Super thankful to be apart of this facility. read more

Actually kinda horrible, commercialized, and expensive. They teach "discipline" yet you pay your way up to each belt. I'm not even joking, I was actually horrible at MMA and they still gave me a black belt. It was fun at times, though the suffering and expenses outweighed the experience. Overall, glad that I can do high kicks and that I'm a skinny twink now, it was so worth the $20,000 and four years of my life read more

My daughter just had a party here with about 25 kids, I was so impressed with this place. It is huge and full of an array of fun things for the kids to do. It also felt very clean. The 3 instructors there were very kind and welcoming. My daughter whom is usually a bit shy warmed up to them and all of the games and activities right away. I was amazed at how the head instructor memorized 25 kids names after just minutes. The kids had a ball for 2 hours, playing games, learning karate and running an obstacle course. At the end they gave us a pinata and then we had a nice sized room to enjoy our lunch and cupcakes. I recommend checking this place out it is pretty amazing! read more

The positives It is clean, it is fun for kids, entry is $19.00 first month. Some of the Instructors are good. Negatives: No personal service once you have paid and are auto deduct. Must commit to 6 month membership of minimum $139 a month even if the dojo does not work out for you. Pass every kid to next belt regardless of if they know the moves and can execute moves with any mastery or form. Surly front desk staff who are ignorant of class times, or any useful information a parent may need. All inquiries have to go through one manager who does not respond unless she is getting money from you. Class times that interfere with parent work hours and are inconsistent through the week. IE: 5:30 TO 6:15 Monday and Wednesday 5:00 to 5:45 Tuesday to Thursday No class Friday 10 to 10:45 am Saturday. Belt tests with 2 day warning at completely different time usually during Parent work hours. And an extra fee not disclosed in advance.. tons of little extra fees. Hard sales pitch which includes a "free private lesson" where your child is outfitted with a gi and is shown moves by an instructor, and your child begs to sign up while the manager tells you that this is limited time and touts benefits of martial arts. Mainly just the feeling of lack of caring and lack of competency the student receives. Pulled my child out at the end of 6 months minimum commitment period to find out if this dojo works for you is $755.00 and no true competency in the end. read more
