They don't let their purple or blue belts do all the teaching - they get in there and break it down, examine the issues they see, and find great ways to explain and improve in those areas. They are great at teaching newer students, as as a white belt with a year or so of experience, the knowledge and ability jump in that have been very large. I feel like 3 months of time here is worth 2x the time I have spent elsewhere. The benefit (and also a downside) to the school is it is very small (for adults). You get a lot of personal attention and guidance. The downside is the classes can be small sometimes for adults, depending on the day and time. If you are an advanced BJJ artist it would be a great opportunity to get a lot of individual help from very experience practitioners. The facilities are extraordinary clean and well-maintained - as good as or better than many schools. I would eat lunch off their mats :)

Samurai BJJ also has a very strong kids program for those looking to get their children enrolled to build self-defense skills, discipline, and confidence. Facility is great with water dispenser, bathrooms, showers, and a good mat space. Very transparent about pricing. Highly recommended.

Wildcat offers MMA, Muay Thai, boxing, and BJJ, and the level of coaching is elite. However, what truly separates Wildcat from other gyms (at least in my opinion) is the people. It's not just that the coaches are high level fighters and technicians that are honest people who care about your growth - everyone here is like family. Coach Alex in particular has had a huge impact on me. His guidance helped me build discipline, confidence and direction. As well as how to apply those lessons to life. He pushes you when you need it, not want it. He'll support you if you're struggling, and genuinely wants the best for you. Coach Murph has always looked out for me, helping me fine tune my technique and pushing me to level up. Having Coach Murph in your corner makes all the difference. I've been in martial arts 3 years and have tried a few places before finding my home with Alex and Wildcat. I can say with confidence that you want to be here - whether you're brand new, experienced, or trying to compete, everyone is treated with respect and encouraged to grow at their own pace. If youre seeking somewhere to train, improve yourself, and be surrounded by positive, driven people. You've found it. Joining Wildcat was the best decision I've ever made.

I was looking for a way to regain my strength and move my body in a way other than weightlifting, and this was it. Jiu jitsu definitely highlights where I need to improve, but the coaches and teammates create such a safe, welcoming environment that I've been able to pace myself perfectly. Being a full-time mom while working from home with our little one, I'm usually mentally and physically exhausted by the time I attend class--but I never regret going and always feel so good afterward. The people here are incredibly easygoing and supportive; they truly listen and care, and you can always feel that. It's not just an amazing workout; it's an empowering community. I especially love the women's self-defense class with Chi. The class is smaller, and I love that things are broken down so clearly. It really helps us understand our bodies and how to utilize our strength and angles effectively. Rob has a no-bullshit, straight-to-the-point personality, and that's exactly my kind of people. Fast forward 10 years later, I am 25 lbs overweight (thanks covid!) and not fit. I couldn't even do a single proper push up. I had trouble sleeping at night and my lifestyle has become too sedentary. I know I need to get out of this funk and be healthy again. I tried coming back to my fave yoga studio, started running, and signed up in a nearby gym to work out myself. None has been too successful. I found myself injured and unmotivated. I passed XMA gym on my way home and I couldn't believe that there is a legit Martial arts gym near my house and I didn't know about it! So I emailed Payam (the owner) and introduced myself. I knew of Payam because he was part of the same fight camp as I was before (though I was already "retired" back then). I told Payam that I was so out of shape, I am not sure if I could keep up with his class. He's very kind and told me to check it out so I did. The first week, I was sore with joint paint and aches but for the first time in ages, I felt the familiar rush of endorphins. The class is never boring and I am always looking forward to come to this gym. Payam runs a tight ship and his class is amazing. You don't feel judged coming to this gym. You can be an athlete or you can be starting out, you only compete with the best version of yourself with Payam guiding you along the way. Now after a month, I feel in the right path. I sleep better, the muscle memory is back, and I start feeling on top of the world again. I lost a bit of weight but I know it's a matter of time if I keep it up. The body is just different and definitely not as soft. Even my 7 year old son starts noticing the change and he is so happy for me. In addition to Payam's class, I also come to Muay Thai class with coach Ed. He too is amazing like Payam. He holds pads for his students and teach them good techniques, no shortcut here.
