My kids, ages 5 and 7, take classes from Master Lee. He is very firm but simultaneously very patient, and my kids actually seem to like the discipline once they got used to it! Much emphasis is placed on doing well in school, being focused, the importance of always trying your best, and discussion of the Tenants of Tae Kwon Do: Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. We came here looking for a physical outlet for the kids and to give them some skills they would maybe need someday to protect themselves, but it has turned out to be so much more. Campbell TKD Academy is a great place for kids to start, and while I do not take Adult classes here I can see he has many adult students and has mentored many up to Black Belt. Big fans here of Campbell TKD and Master Lee. read more

When my son turned 6 I decided to sign him up for martial arts classes. I researched a lot and based on the yelp reviews I decided to give that place a try. This is the only place where a person could get a whole month of free trial. Furthermore, there is no other place with classes 5 days a week at such a low monthly fee. Some places even charge additional if a parent wants their child to be thaught leadership skills, this is NOT one of them. By the third month of coming to this academy there was significant improvement in my son's behavior and attitude. He started helping with chores, doing homework without whining, improvement in his personal hygiene. I highly recommend Master Lee! read more

Though I've not taken classes at Campbell Taekwondo Academy, I've observed the classes many times. A friend is an instructor there. They have a strong focus on building character, self-confidence, and discipline. As I've heard mention, the physical strength and control are side benefits. There's strong encouragement for the kids to do well in school and treat others with respect. Report cards and school updates are part of their review and testing. The adult classes are also very good. If someone wants to learn taekwondo, this is the first place I'll recommend. A lot of that has to do with their focus on character building and respect for others. read more

Our 5 year boy old started TKD about two months ago. He very much looks forward to going 3x a week and has learned better self-control in a short period of time. Master Lee, Mr. Pyo, and the other teachers have done an excellent job of teaching more than just martial arts - emphasizing good behavior, respect for elders, academics and focus. It is great fun for parents and grandparents to watch the new students (especially the young ones) learn the rules. In addition, the facility includes a second room with tables and free wi-fi is available. read more

It's been 6 months since our son started his first Tae Kwon Do trial at Campbell. His improvement on verbal, listening, social, and last but not least, physical skill has improved by a number of factor compared to the 6 months before he started his TKD at Campbell. We believe, some was because his age progression, some was because of him started pre-school in December. But both my wife and I, really see his improvements associate with TKD. You know he loves TKD here when he tells you that he wants to go to TKD every afternoon even after he started his DCS Kindergarten 2 weeks ago (switching from Pre-school). Switching from pre-school to new School's Kindergarten is very tiring and shocking for many kids. read more

Courtesy, loyalty, integrity, perseverance, self control, and an indomitable spirit; this is what is taught at this studio. These core values are at the heart taekwondo and this studio. Its not just about kicks and punches, Master Lee provides a comprehensive education that is first rate. Master Lee's style is a unique blend of strict firmness, yet still nice that only a seasoned taekwondo master can provide. Its a rare brand of tough love that is exceedingly hard to find these days, perhaps a lost art. Bottomline, this is a great place to care for mind, body, and spirit. read more

Both my girls (ages 10 and 7) joined taekwondo about a year ago. Campbell taekwondo Center is a place where they not only teach dojang but also teach life value lessons. They also teach how to focus and how to be a better stronger person in taekwondo and outside taekwondo. I am impressed with the testing process where master Lee & judges checks each individual student's latest school report cards and talk about their performance in school & at home. The process involved encourages students to stay disciplined and give their best. This center is not just an ordinary taekwondo center but also a friendly place without attitudes. I also want to add up to that by saying that the schedule is very attractive for working professional like myself. If you are looking for a friendly TKD place for yourself or your children, I highly recommend this place. Check this out, first month is free!!! read more

My son started Tae Kwon Do when he was 4.5 years old. At that time he has been diagnosed as speech delay, fine motor skill problem and other learning disabilities. We registered him into Campbell Tae Kwon Do Academy, hoping to improve his capability to focus, self control and his overall self confidence. I have to say that was the best decision we have ever made and also chose Masters Lee's facility was a blessing. Over the last 4 years, Master Lee helped my son developed his self confidence, self control which improved his behavior at home and school; also he helped my son to overcome his motor skill problems. My son is a Black Belt Candidate now, he won many trophies from his promotion tests, he even started to play baseball for the little league (talking about a kid who cannot catch a ball with two hands before! ) The most importantly, all the principles and disciplines Master Lee taught him became part of his personality and I am more and more confidence that my son will become an amazing human being and a valuable member of the society in the future. I cannot say enough thank you to Master Lee for all the extra effort and time he spent on my son and all other kids. Many other martial art place we tried only care about money, but Master Lee care about kids themselves. I saw many times that he was willing to work with parents who have financial issues just because he did not want kids to quit because of money issue. He is a truly noble man! Thank you Master Lee! My son has been taking Tae Kwondo at CTA for about 5 weeks. He is a very intelligent boy, but he is pretty timid and a little uncoordinated. From the first lesson, I could tell he was going to like it. The facility is clean and tidy. The class offerings are at convenient times. Class size varies, but is generally very reasonable with students getting a reasonable amount of individual attention. The intro/beginners' class is very basic, focusing on good foundations of personal character and discipline. Master Lee makes a formidable role model and leader and Mr Pyo has a fantastic report with the students. The free first month is a good opportunity to see if the program is right for you. There was no doubt that we would continue. I have been very impressed with my son's increased confidence. Coordination...well...it's only been 5 weeks. We look forward years of instruction ahead! read more

If you're interested in martial arts or an after school activity for your children, this is the place!!! Master Lee and instructors experience really shines with the confidence they inspire in all of their students and most importantly care above and beyond. I'd highly recommend Campbell Tae Kwon Do Academy for kids of all ages to learn the importance of discipline, respect and confidence. Also kids that go to this academy definitely learn about Tae Kwon Do. We signed up our son a year and couple months ago because we saw that his behavior is on the "edge" with back talking, NO self control.. 3 months after he started the significant improvement in my son's behavior and attitude, amazing! At beginning almost every time he would be skeptical if he wants to go or no. Now he loves it and has earned his green belt. As a parent, there is always a great sense of pride when your child accomplishes or learns something new. I get this feeling every time, watching my kid perform in class. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed! Thank You, Campbell Tae Kwon Do Academy read more

Master Lee will help instill discipline and confidence in your child at the same time - a rare feat indeed. We tried the free 1 month trial and were thoroughly impressed with the progress our daughter made in discipline and confidence. She now insists on attending the class every day after school!!!! Am amazing teacher - all the reviews are true! read more

I have watched my son mature physically and mentally while attending Master Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy. During the past 2 1/2 years, CJ has become a better, strong person and we've seen improvements at school as well as his behaviors and habits at home. He has gained confidence in his physical & emotional skills which has given him a positive attitude that he has taken outside the gym. I highly recommend Campbell Tae Kwon Do Academy for anyone who is seeking to improve their child's character, strength, dignity, and honor and have fun while they are doing it! read more

I placed my boys ages 4 and 6 for about a month and already have seen a significant change in them. Master Lee instill in them discipline, respect and skills to be strong individuals. I was surprised my 4 yr old is engaged and enjoys the class. after 1 month trail, I am ready to sign them up for a 14 month plan. I am glad I found something both boys enjoy and I am very pleased with the improvement in their behavior within just 1 month. other parents have given me similar feedback. I can't wait to see how they progress this coming year. Thank you Master Lee for your guidance and encouragement towards my boys! My boys love your class! read more

Master LG Lee's dojan is not your typical martial arts studio with kids running around, paying their money and progressing up the color belts just for showing up. He has a passion for taekwando and teaching, and is very 'old school' in reinforcing the values and goals of taekwando, and not just how to kick and punch. He is very focused on promoting good values so the kids can have a better life. He is also very good at balancing correction, sternness and encouragement and adjusting for the different age groups. We were looking for somewhere for our 5 1/2 year old who, although many wonderful things, is not very focused. Disciple, attention and focus have improved significantly since starting that I had no hesitation in subscribing for a long term set of lessons. Amazingly, if acting up or talking back all my wife has to say is "What would Master Lee say?" and good behavior is almost instantaneous. read more

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Campbell Tae Kwon Do Academy. Our son has been going here for about 9 months now. Ever since then he has been steadily gaining confidence, self control and perseverance. Master Lee is one of the best teachers you can get. He is not only a master of Tae Kwon Do, but also knows how to teach kids based on their needs and areas they need to work hard on. As he emphasizes often, the classes are not for just learning the kick and punches & earning higher belts, it's more to become a better and a stronger person in all respects. Despite both my wife's and my crazy work schedules, the main reason we want our son to be at Campbell TKD is because he has made amazing progress and this reflects on his general social-emotional behaviors at school and outside as well. We also appreciate the positive reinforcements and consequence based rewards (best spirit/ best student awards) system that Master Lee practices. This has definitely helped our son to be motivated to aim to achieve more. read more

We started our son and daughter in Master Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy 1 month ago. My husband and I could not be happier. Master Lee puts a huge emphasis on education, by teaching his students self control and confidence. He also puts a strong emphasis on family and respect. We saw positive effects of his class in less than 2 weeks of attending. You truly see that Master Lee cares for each of the students! We are looking forward to our kids growing in his class! read more

Master Lee puts Education first. My Nephew has been going there for over a year and his attitude and behavior have improved. From what I have seen, Master Lee has been Teaching Respect, Honor and Hard Work, and it is working. I highly recommend this institute to anyone. Thank You Master Lee read more

My kids love going to class at Campbell Tae Kwon Do. As parents, we love the discipline and respect that Master Lee has the class focus on every day. The higher level belts have shown support to our white belts by fostering the same respect by helping them learn forms and basic moves before class. This help from the higher belts comes naturally as Master Lee never has to ask his older students to do this. He must be doing a lot of things right if most of his class shows courtesy and respect to everyone without being prompted. They just don't learn martial arts, they learn life and social skills here. read more

my daughter started two months ago and she really loves this studio and mater Lee. Master Lee is very helpful and professional...Kids get physically and mentally strong from the practice here... Strongly recommend this TaeKwonDo to friends.. read more

My 4 year old daughter 'gave it a go' and discovered she loved it. Master Pyo's teaching style really compliments Master Lee, so they make a great teaching team. I like the personal feel, as the children are properly introduced to the other kids and are given good personal attention through the class. I feel very proud to watch her develop and would recommend this venue to everyone. read more

I was looking for a martial arts school specifically for my high-energy four-year-old son. Unfortunately there's not a lot of reviews on yelp for martial arts for kids. I want a traditional martial arts school that taught as much old-school respect and values as martial arts forms. The school fit what I was looking forward to a T. Instructors spend as much time working on focus and etiquette as much as other martial arts skills, granted we never made it out of the "intro to tae kwon do" class. i really did appreciate Master Lee's candidness that he's not there to baby sit. the only downside/thing keeping this from being 5 stars is, cost and commitment. They asked for a 18 month commitment at a pretty high cost with no out besides relocation or dr's note. comparing it to other three martial arts gym, i've checked out, it way higher ($50/month more than competitors). on one hand i totally get it, they make a significant investment of time and personalized attention to the students, but 18 month commitment at a high gym fee for a four year old kept me from pulling the trigger. we're now at another traditional korean based martial art school, and definitely see the decrease in quality. i definitely would recommend this school for a traditional martial arts school that's good for kids. read more

My son is nine and dealing with being a high functioning autistic child. It is hard for him to take part in organized sports and group activities. The struggle to keep him socialized and physically active is tough. He requires a lot of attention. The support we have received from the instructors and the parents has been wonderful. I must admit it was not and still is not a smooth transition to go from antisocial loner, to a group of kids and adults you must acknowledge and address. My son has to listen to Master Lee. If not ready to listen and follow instructions he must seat out. Then the instructor will ask him if he is ready to come back. It is so hard for my son to stand still, yet with the proper praise and discipline he is really thriving. I can not tell you how happy I am with the patience and firm hand both instructors have had with my boy. Without their lead my boy would never be offered this chance. I have asked my son what his favorite part of class is and he said "when everyone claps and cheers for me when I do something right!". I highly recommend this place to any age and temperament. read more

We enrolled our 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter here about two months ago, and WOW what a great program that teaches respect and self control. I think this is an excellent program especially for active boys who are about to enter school for the first time or may be having self control or concentration issues at school - this program teaches not only self defense moves it also focuses on teaching respect for others, improving concentration, and building self esteem and awareness. Master Lee is excellent with the kids as he sets expectations for the children and then motivates through peer praise. We are very happy with the results and the kids have so much fun when they are there. read more

My 10 year young daughter and I gave Master Lee's class a try last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We are both overweight and want to lose weight together. Our experience here with Master Lee and all the students (adults and children) has been wonderful! Everyone is so welcoming, friendly, respectful and focused on their success and helping others too. I'm amazed by the students attention to form and their ongoing, focused respect to learning Master Lee's principles of success! It's been a great pleasure to meet and learn Tae Kwon Do from Master Lee and all his students. The parents that participate in the class with their kids are great too! Master Lee has many great principles he teaches his students and my favorites are respect, being the best, having self control and discipline, and having a good heart. read more

My older son got his Black Belt from the Campbell Taekwondo and my younger one is working towards his Black belt this year. I started coming to the academy 7 years ago. I looked at a lot of places before sending my kids to this academy. Master Lee understands kids very well and focuses on all aspects of martial arts. Apart from teaching kids with forms, kicks and blocks, he also stresses on important of adopting basic tenants of taekwondo like Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Loyalty and Indomitable Spirit. He emphasizes a lot on these tenants, also help them become good leaders and make good choices. He is a very good role model & a instructor. read more

My son just joined Master Lee's class. He is very patient and firm with the kids. As mentioned in the other reviews, Discipline is priority at school and at home, focusing on good grades. Strengthening the kids' character. I love the classes. Love the discipline of the kids. I would recommend this over any of the other centers, especially the one from across the street. I told Master Lee what I am struggling with my son and sure enough that's what he is working on. Highly recomment this class. Try it. I have referred 2 friends and more to come. read more

We completed a free trial month here and even before the trial was finished, my super shy son changed so much! We signed up for a whole year! I am so impressed with how Master Lee is able to connect with all the kids even though he's very strict with them and even mine who I was for sure would have the most difficult time here. My son loves TKD now. His teacher at school can see the improvement too. I'm so glad I enrolled my son here because of the lifetime return on investment in strength, discipline, focus and respect. read more

We highly recommend this studio. They really implement respecting parents, family and others. Your child can't advance belt color if there grades are low. My 2 kids had a week of trial lessons and we are so impressed by Master Lee's unique style of teaching, that we signed them up for a year of classes immediately. Kids nowadays can benefit from learning the importance of respect, discipline, obedience and focus in their lives. We're so glad we found Master Lee & even though it's only been 2 weeks, we already see our kids attitude changing for the better. My husband is so impressed. Even though our kids had been through other martial arts training for years, we've never seen anything like this before. Words are just not enough to describe how great a teacher Master Lee is and the other instructors at the center are. I'm very confident that our kids are not only learning self defense here but also to become better people and benefit society. We're so happy and grateful that our kids are in this academy, not only are they learning self defense, but also important life skills that will help them at School and in their personal lives. read more
