My kids, ages 5 and 7, take classes from Master Lee. He is very firm but simultaneously very patient, and my kids actually seem to like the discipline once they got used to it! Much emphasis is placed on doing well in school, being focused, the importance of always trying your best, and discussion of the Tenants of Tae Kwon Do: Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. We came here looking for a physical outlet for the kids and to give them some skills they would maybe need someday to protect themselves, but it has turned out to be so much more. Campbell TKD Academy is a great place for kids to start, and while I do not take Adult classes here I can see he has many adult students and has mentored many up to Black Belt. Though I've not taken classes at Campbell Taekwondo Academy, I've observed the classes many times. A friend is an instructor there. They have a strong focus on building character, self-confidence, and discipline. As I've heard mention, the physical strength and control are side benefits. Our 5 year boy old started TKD about two months ago. He very much looks forward to going 3x a week and has learned better self-control in a short period of time. It's been 6 months since our son started his first Tae Kwon Do trial at Campbell. His improvement on verbal, listening, social, and last but not least, physical skill has improved by a number of factor compared to the 6 months before he started his TKD at Campbell. We believe, some was because his age progression, some was because of him started pre-school in December. But both my wife and I, really see his improvements associate with TKD. My son has been taking Tae Kwondo at CTA for about 5 weeks. He is a very intelligent boy, but he is pretty timid and a little uncoordinated. From the first lesson, I could tell he was going to like it. The facility is clean and tidy. The class offerings are at convenient times. Class size varies, but is generally very reasonable with students getting a reasonable amount of individual attention. The intro/beginners' class is very basic, focusing on good foundations of personal character and discipline. Master Lee makes a formidable role model and leader and Mr Pyo has a fantastic report with the students. The free first month is a good opportunity to see if the program is right for you. Master LG Lee's dojan is not your typical martial arts studio with kids running around, paying their money and progressing up the color belts just for showing up. He has a passion for taekwando and teaching, and is very 'old school' in reinforcing the values and goals of taekwando, and not just how to kick and punch. He is very focused on promoting good values so the kids can have a better life. He is also very good at balancing correction, sternness and encouragement and adjusting for the different age groups. We were looking for somewhere for our 5 1/2 year old who, although many wonderful things, is not very focused. Disciple, attention and focus have improved significantly since starting that I had no hesitation in subscribing for a long term set of lessons. My kids love going to class at Campbell Tae Kwon Do. As parents, we love the discipline and respect that Master Lee has the class focus on every day. The higher level belts have shown support to our white belts by fostering the same respect by helping them learn forms and basic moves before class. This help from the higher belts comes naturally as Master Lee never has to ask his older students to do this. He must be doing a lot of things right if most of his class shows courtesy and respect to everyone without being prompted. My son is nine and dealing with being a high functioning autistic child. It is hard for him to take part in organized sports and group activities. The struggle to keep him socialized and physically active is tough. He requires a lot of attention. The support we have received from the instructors and the parents has been wonderful. I must admit it was not and still is not a smooth transition to go from antisocial loner, to a group of kids and adults you must acknowledge and address. My son has to listen to Master Lee. If not ready to listen and follow instructions he must seat out. Then the instructor will ask him if he is ready to come back. It is so hard for my son to stand still, yet with the proper praise and discipline he is really thriving. I can not tell you how happy I am with the patience and firm hand both instructors have had with my boy. Without their lead my boy would never be offered this chance. I have asked my son what his favorite part of class is and he said "when everyone claps and cheers for me when I do something right!". I was looking for a martial arts school specifically for my high-energy four-year-old son. Unfortunately there's not a lot of reviews on yelp for martial arts for kids. I want a traditional martial arts school that taught as much old-school respect and values as martial arts forms. The school fit what I was looking forward to a T. Instructors spend as much time working on focus and etiquette as much as other martial arts skills, granted we never made it out of the "intro to tae kwon do" class. i really did appreciate Master Lee's candidness that he's not there to baby sit. the only downside/thing keeping this from being 5 stars is, cost and commitment. They asked for a 18 month commitment at a pretty high cost with no out besides relocation or dr's note. comparing it to other three martial arts gym, i've checked out, it way higher ($50/month more than competitors). on one hand i totally get it, they make a significant investment of time and personalized attention to the students, but 18 month commitment at a high gym fee for a four year old kept me from pulling the trigger. we're now at another traditional korean based martial art school, and definitely see the decrease in quality. i definitely would recommend this school for a traditional martial arts school that's good for kids. read more

We enrolled our 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter here about two months ago, and WOW what a great program that teaches respect and self control. I think this is an excellent program especially for active boys who are about to enter school for the first time or may be having self control or concentration issues at school - this program teaches not only self defense moves it also focuses on teaching respect for others, improving concentration, and building self esteem and awareness.
