My daughter has attended the Little Warriors program for 4-6 year olds for a little over a year now. Unlike some other martial arts studios that my friends' kids go to, there's no sparring in this age group, mostly a focus on learning basic moves and drills. The kids seem to enjoy the last few minutes of every class where they do something fun like dodgeball. She is 7 now and hopefully will move to the next age group soon to learn even more TKD skills. The head master, Master Legrow works well with kids and his admin staff, Andrea is easy to work with. However, the other instructor, Ms. Ha who is Master Legrow's wife is condescending and does not know how to work with children whatsoever. Bless her soul because she's going to have a baby of her own soon. Hopefully then this will give her real experience to be more understanding and patient. They have a program here that allows you to make up classes if your child is ill or on vacation. I really appreciated this flexibility because we go on holidays quite often. I had about 6 weeks of classes missed that I filled out in their google doc they provide if you need to miss class. Master Legrow offered one private lesson per each class week missed. Since my 5 year old son had such a disinterest for his lessons, we decided it would be a good idea to try out private lessons to see if it would peak his interest and keep him better engaged. However, my son begged me not to return to his lessons. Which I find odd, because my son is in many extra curricular activities from gymnastics, swimming, music to Kumon and does not have any qualms about those activities. I asked if I can transfer these lessons to a friend who still has her daughter going here because it'd be a shame to have the classes go to waste. They agreed but Ms. Ha did not honor what Master Legrow offered. Instead she says it is 1 private lessons for every 2 weeks of classes missed. I didn't want to argue and went ahead and transferred 3 classes to my friend. In addition, I also had another experience with Ms. Ha that made me want to stop my son's lessons but I stayed at the time wanting to teach my son the value of hard work and not quitting so easily. When my son was testing for one of his little color stripes, he did very poorly. He was not focused and was disengaged the entire test. Ms. Ha wanted to give him his stripe anyhow which I asked her not to because it would teach my child that you get awarded for no effort and that's not ok nor how life works. She didn't seem happy that I didn't want to reward him with the stripe and was a little argumentative about it. I'm not a tiger mom. I don't have any expectations except for my child to be exposed to a fun environment but the key word here is fun. He wasn't having fun. He wasn't trying and I was not going to just give him hand outs for a poor attitude. I guess Ms. Ha then felt embarrassed by her stance or became defensive I'm not sure but she goes on to something about "it's a blue stripe not blue belt. Let's set the correct expectations here." Because I referred their silly little pseudo stripes as a blue belt. Ms. Ha is obnoxious and rude but I've updated my review to a 3 star to be fair since the head instructor is passionate at what he does and works very well with the young kids. read more

We signed up our 5 year old at Warrior Code Taekwon-Do last summer for a month of trial classes. Our son loved it so much that we have continued his classes ever since.
