I cannot recommend KravZone highly enough, especially for parents looking to enroll their children in Krav Maga classes. My experience with their kids' program has been nothing short of exceptional, hats off to the incredible instructor, Travis! From day one, it was evident that Travis was not only highly skilled in Krav Maga but also knew the knack of teaching and working with children. Whether a child was struggling with a technique or excelling at it, Travis was present very watchfully, providing guidance, support, and positive reinforcement. One of the things that stood out to me the most was Travis's ability to create a supportive and encouraging environment for the kids. Moreover, he has a unique talent for breaking down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-understand steps, making it accessible and observable for children of all skill levels. What stood out to me in particular was his own values, principles and attitude which in my opinion are of paramount importance especially while teaching life skills to others. Beyond his technical expertise, Travis also instilled important values such as team work, discipline, respect, and self-confidence in the children. Through his teaching, my child not only gained valuable self-defense skills but also developed a sense of empowerment and self-assurance that extends beyond the mat. My daughter and I really enjoy doing the Krav and cub classes. My only complaint is that our class starts late almost every time and the time does not get made up because another class starts right afterwards. I do agree that it's good to warm up before starting classes but I feel that there might be too much time running back-and-forth. Occasionally it feels like a way to keep us busy while they are speaking to other people. We've had a couple classes with Beth, she is very nice and patient with the little ones. Travis was our main coach for a few months and I can tell the older kids work better with him. They only have beginner and advanced classes. It would be nice to have an intermediate class as well. I think in general more classes would be helpful as you cannot graduate to certain belts unless you are taking two classes a week. We signed up for a year and will plan to continue for as long as possible. I do recommend this place. * updated to add that now that school has started, they just brought in another trainer (Shlomi) to teach the older kids since the class size has doubled. He is very good at teaching new techniques properly. I feel that he is the best match for my yellow belt 8 year old. read more

Fantastic gym with some of hands-down the experienced and qualified martial arts experts I've ever trained with. There's punching bag/fitness classes for cardio + strength, or contact kickboxing & krav maga classes for self defense and sparring. If you're new, I definitely recommend starting with some of the beginner level classes to learn the basics. This gym is also very welcoming to women, with women's-only classes, a wonderful female instructor (Beth), and always lots of ladies attending every class. read more

Oh boy, how I miss this place! Krav Zone is THE place for you to learn Self-Defense. There is no bad attitude, neither from the instructors nor from the students. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. I love the way they teach, how they want you to do your best always and focus on practice practice, practice...  They also teach BJJ, Kickboxing and Fitness class but I confess, Krav Maga was my passion. I wish I could carry them inside my pocket. Love them! Also, don't let them fool you, they look like bad guys outside but have a really big and gentle heart. My review is from about 3 years ago. When I first moved to CA, I looked for a krav place that I could train at. This place had great reviews on yelp so I decided to give it a try. I went to their "tryout" classes and I actually had the chance to experience their level 1 krav, kickboxing, and grappling class (if memory serves). I signed up and trained here for about 4 months before I relocated due to work. It was very unfortunate because I loved this place. Shlomi, Tomer, and Travis are all outstanding teachers and they are really able to identify your weaknesses and offer your individualized advice. That's what I really enjoyed about this place. Yeah, some of the classes were large in size, but it was still really nice to get personalized advice. I have a background in martial arts and this place is definitely legit. The workouts were great, the training was great, and my experience here has been exceptional. My only caveat about the area is that parking sucks for the later classes, but that's pretty much everywhere in the bay. Luckily, I relocated back to the area and will be looking to start up training again at KravZone soon. read more

I convinced my 13 year old daughter, a friendly, non-competitive girl, to try a self defense class. Krav Zone happens to have a class specifically for teen girls, focused on self defense, so she tried it. I could not be happier with the result. To my amazement, after a few sessions, my daughter said to me, "Dad, I think I have found my sport". The lessons are very practical, teaching them how to defend against various situations, including weapons, sticks and ground work/grappling. She has actually asked me to join more classes, so now she's in a teen Krav class that she also loves. The workouts are intense and there is a lot of contact/sparring, but she told me that she feels great - PE class in school is now effortless for her, and she has a new self confidence that I have never seen before. For me, more than the martial art is the teaching - the coaches are all excellent, warm and yet intense. Not only are they the real deal (Special Forces trainers / Wingate), but they are great at motivating the kids, building confidence while keeping the intensity at a high level. For parents looking for a martial art for their teen, especially girls self defense, I can't recommend this place enough. Definitely 5 stars. read more

After running into a few unsavory individuals while in the city, I decided I wanted (needed) to learn self defense. I've been coming here 3-4 times a week for almost 2 months now. This place is amazing and I wish I had found this place earlier! Contact them via the form on their website if you want to take a tryout class. They respond quickly and walk you through the routines on your first day (and make sure to pair you up with someone appropriate). Instructors: super knowledgeable and observant. They can easily notice where your form is off or where you should improve to make the move better and more effective. They are always willing to repeat the demo or answer any questions you may have - just ask! Classes: They offer a range of classes including krav maga, grappling, kravfit (krav-ish crossfit), kickboxing and some classes even incorporate MMA (full explanations and schedules on their website). They also have classes for children/teens and parent-children classes, which is quite a unique concept. In general, classes start with about 10 minutes of warm-up and stretching, then you split off into the specific class you want to attend. You get more of a workout in the fitness class, and focus more on technique and form in krav classes. There's a ton of different moves to learn so there's never a shortage of things to drill. Membership: different types depending on how often you want to attend class. Ask about discounts if you are a student, military or signing up with other family members. They also do private lessons - ask an instructor for info and scheduling. As a person who isn't a fan of working out for the sake of working out, KravZone is just what I needed to keep me motivated and engaged in physical fitness. More importantly, KravZone is not just a place you go to train - it is also a community of amazing like-minded people. For those who want to learn practical self-defense skills in a supportive environment, this is the gym for you. Tip - parking can be difficult for evening classes (which are popular) because it's a small lot, but I've never had any issues finding a spot. WOW! Just Wow! This place is just beyond words. Professional staff. Dedicated instruction. Simple. Character building. Very impressive. You can do a free tryout to see if it's right for you and if you're local you're 100% going to come back. The only 'negative' is that they should have more classes, especially for teens (currently only 2 and 1 for girls I think....) but I understand that there are only that many hours in the day, space is limited, instructors are too. The instructors have trained people who's lives hang on the instruction, and who must be able to function at the highest stress level. Edited to include info about equipment for classes and parking. I've tried the grappling, krav maga, and kickboxing classes so far and my first week was great. Staff and other students seem friendly and quick to answer questions as I'm a beginner in krav maga. You get a discount if you're a student, military, or have a family member currently enrolled. The promotion I got upon signing up was a pair of boxing gloves. FYI if you end up doing krav maga (higher levels) or kickboxing you'll need to get a mouth guard, shin guards, gloves, and a helmet. The fitness class and grappling did not seem to need equipment as far as I can tell. My only qualm so far was the parking situation. The 6:30 and 7PM classes seem to be quite popular and the parking lot is tiny (and shared with a Domino's and 711). However, you can park next door in the dental office complex (it's a big lot). read more

It's an empty rented out office space with padded floors and teachers that treat children like garbage and will keep billing you over and over again after you cancel. It's easier to get rid of a time share than these guys billing you. Not a safe place to bring your kids. read more

I have been coming here for four and a half years. I don't think I knew what real self defense was before I came here. Shlomi and Tomer, the two main instructors, both served in the IDF. This isn't the place where you learn kata or other techniques that only work in karate movies. Here, you're going to learn how to REALLY survive on the street. When I first came here, I had already spent 4 years in a Tae Kwon Do studio, but I eventually realized it was black belt mill. I can say with confidence that this is not a black belt mill. I failed one of my belt tests, which may seem like a negative thing, but it shows that they aren't here to take your money and give you a belt. This is a place where you earn your belts. There are also other classes you can take advantage of here, like kickboxing, BJJ, MMA, and fitness classes. read more

KravMaga is the only fun thing you can do in the Bay Area...for your health. I have been training at the KravZone studio for the past three years. I was looking for a new martial art studio after relocating from overseas, was quite unfamiliar with KravMaga even though I have been practicing different martial art classes since high school (Karate, Kendo, Kalaripayattu and KungFu) in 4 countries. After a year at KravZone (2hrs/w), my body changed and I discovered muscles that I never had before, lost some weight and developed more reflexes. Besides learning how to kick balls, break arms, and choke people, I have found a place that makes me feel good, full of energy and strong, which is key to my work. I often have to present in front of people and training at KravZone (4hrs/w now) helps me project energy, self-confidence, and presence. From a woman standpoint, I would also highlight that the three instructors, Shlomi (the founder), Tomer and Travis are super respectful of our weaknesses and strengths and set up that mood for the entire studio. After three years, I am still learning something new and useful each time I go in a both focused and relaxed atmosphere, refine my fighting skills and enjoy it. I also train on Saturdays with my 5 year-old daughter which allows me to spend good time with her and learn something together. I took a two hour self-defense seminar here that I purchased through Groupon and it was a great experience. Shlomi was very knowledgeable, patient, and nice--even with a somewhat timid, uncoordinated klutz like myself! I felt like I learned a lot about how to fight off an attacking assailant, but Shlomi did not hesitate to remind us that if you can get away without having to physically defend yourself, then that is what you should do. Shlomi's a great teacher. Classes are nice mix of fitness training, defensive and offensive skills both standing and ground. Based on my experience with martial arts over the years (karate, kenpo, kickboxing, aikido, kung-fu praying mantis) a fundamental truth is that the teacher sets the learning atmosphere and attitude of the students. Shlomi's top notch, highly skilled, no ego, and it reflects in the attitude among the students. Hope to keep training with him for years to come. I have Hapkido and BJJ DVDs at home...it got me so interested in learning self-defense, so I started to search for a place to learn. I and my neighbor checked 2 other krav maga places and a Hapkido place before we decided on this one. And, it's been 7 month...we still like this place a lot. Love the teachers, students and the course....so interesting....time just flying in the class...before you know it the class is over....never a boring class. It got me to think who needs a sofa to get fat on watching TV, so I moved the sofa and got a 10'x10' MMA mat at living room....Boxing gloves for my 5 yrs old daughter too to play with me. I've been involved in the martial arts for years, from traditional Kyokushinkai to Boxing and Jiu-jitsu. I've seen my share of incompetent instructors that don't know what they are doing, and I can tell when someone has the skills they say they do. I have to say the Shlomi Katz is TOP NOTCH in all regards. He knows what he is doing and can explain it in a way that is understandable to your average joe. I'm never bored when I come to class, there is always something new to learn. He has developed a good environment where we can all train in a respectful manner while still having fun. You don't see people getting injured sparring because there aren't any 'tough guys' in the class headhunting for knockouts. All the sparring is safe and controlled. The main thing I love about the KravZone is the energy of the place. I've been to other Krav Maga schools and I've left in disgust because of their business practices. Shlomi is a great teacher first and foremost, and he seems very honest and straightforward in everything he does. If I could buy stock in KravZone I would because I believe in the way Shlomi does business. If you are at all curious about learning a martial art to defend yourself, I would highly recommend you check out his school. My son has tried variety of after school recreation activities over the years, including some other martial arts schools but never became so addicted to any activity like Krav Maga at KravZone. The first time he watched his friend's class and immediately asked to join too. I was obviously skeptical that this time would be any different, so I enrolled for monthly payment plan, to my astonishment he got hooked and has been training over a year by now, barely missing a class. As a parent I like seeing him gaining new important survival skills and learning to defend himself in unexpected situations in the real world, yet it is being trained in a professional controlled super friendly non-pressure environment. I can't put my finger what exactly is the magic sauce in KravZone kids classes that makes the difference, maybe the fun supportive atmosphere or the physical challenge, but my wife and I have clearly noticed that he had improved his self-confidence and developed body awareness, he even follows better instructions and more focused at school. I have two kids in KravZone, been going there for about two years. KravZone teaches real self defense, discipline, and important lessons to keep your child safe. The kids learn how to protect themselves and when they learn something new they become more confident and want to come back for more. In Krav Maga you have the advantage of being part of a group without having to play as a team. Each child progresses at his own pace while earning stripes and belts along the way. All the staff members are super friendly, very professional, and fun to be around. They walk around correcting techniques throughout the whole class. The adult classes are popular as well. This is a great gym with a very knowledgeable and skilled coaching staff. Krav is obviously in the name but this is also a great place to work on your kickboxing, grappling skills, or just general fitness. It is worth noting that the way membership works here is also probably the best I've seen it done out of all the gyms I've trained with. I went to Krav Zone for 3 years with my then grad school roommate. Sadly I had to stop as I moved too far from Sunnyvale. I had no previous martial arts experience but still found Shlomi and Tomer to be patient and excellent teachers. They really care about their students. They do a good job of pushing everyone hard but at the same time adjusting to reach person's level. The CrossFit classes that are offered are great. I was in the best shape of my life here. There are folks who also were very serious about Martial arts, although I can't speak to that. For me, it was great for fitness, knowing how to fight to be more confident about my body, and a great community of students and teachers. Worth every penny and I want to one day go back! Wow, I have been training at the Kravzone for 5 years and have never written a review because everyone and I mean everyone who I have trained with has been incredibly happy, satisfied and fulfilled working out there. It is only when I inadvertently stumbled upon a negative comment about the zone that I felt compelled to write as I would do this gym a disservice if I didn't speak the truth about how incredibly life changing the Kravzone has been for me and many others with whom I have spoken. When I started training at the Kravzone, I was a bit uncoordinated, green and awkward with my moves. With the help of Shlomi and his amazing instructors who had the utmost respect for and belief in my personal martial arts journey, I am now a brown belt and ready to work incredibly hard to get to the next level. This is not an easy journey. It takes hard work, dedication and an open mind. But if you are willing to put forth that effort, then the Kravzone will get you there. The instructors also offer their support to Krav kids. I use the term Krav kids because that is exactly how the Krav staff treats their students, like family. Since my daughter has taken lessons at the Kravzone, her confidence has sky-rocketed, yet she remains modest. The Kravzone instills that understated confidence in all of its students. I also want to point out that my daughter injured herself playing Volleyball and the Kravzone graciously put her membership on hold until her injury healed. If anyone has a problem with billing, I am certain the Kravzone will take care of it. Just ask. It is a grave disappointment that anyone would write that the Kravzone treats children like garbage. That statement is categorically false and no doubt the kids at the Kravzone are more than safe! We love Krav Zone! Having a few kids at different ages with different schedules is complicated. Shlomi helped us find the perfect solution, a dedicated time slot with a weekly private lesson for all the kids so it was very convenient, affordable and we got an excellent instructor, Travis Latham, who is highly professional, patient, amazing with kids and flexible! The kids love him and enthusiastic about krav maga thanks to him. The kids are learning how to defend themselves, it improved their confidence, self-esteem and they know when it's ok to use the skills they develop. I came on a Monday afternoon for a free class and today, on Tuesday evening I'm buying a 6 months admission. Don't let a dozen of brutal looking men scare you away! They all are actually very nice. Studio isn't big, but very welcoming, clean (yay! No sweat or dirty socks scents), with good air conditioning, exceptionally looking mats, very friendly instructors, extremely interesting curriculum (if you can name it that way). I don't think they have a changing room, but I am not 100% sure. There is a room where you can leave your belongings, there's also space where you can sit down and wait for your child or friend to finish the class. Long story short, I'm in love and can't wait to get back there. Try KravZone, you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been in Krav 1 at KravZone for about 6 months now and I've continued to go to the classes there because the instructors are articulate, friendly, and best of all they don't waste your time. Going here is the perfect physical activity after work for blowing off steam and getting fit while learning extremely practical self-defense and fighting skills from pros. Each of the instructors has a unique teaching style and I feel like I learn an equal amount from each one of them, and I appreciate how quick they are in correcting me, adjusting subtleties in my form, etc. As a beginner I personally really enjoy David's pace of teaching and the way he articulates things and breaks down all of the motions. The classes I've taken with Tomer are awesomely intense - be sure to wear a cup and be ready to practice moves being on your back with someone pinned on top of you. Travis' classes for some reason make me feel three times more agile in both physical movement and thinking like a fighter. You obviously can't go wrong with Shlomi (the owner) in his classes and it's super helpful and fun when he incorporates weapons and disarming opponents (never thought I'd "play" with toy guns and rubber knives again once I became an adult!). I don't know if I'm missing any others, but the instructors I've had here are solid and seem like genuinely good people, and I can tell they are passionate in what they do and they want to provide all the necessary building blocks to see everyone they teach grow. I try to soak up and retain every bit I can from the classes and reinforce the muscle memory by typing out notes of everything I learned that day in my phone once I get home. I also practice as many moves as I can on my punk-a** brother (does he appreciate it? Most likely not, but he's a tough cookie). Besides him, I'm currently trying to get as many people in my large family to join. This place rocks! read more

The teaching is exceptional and the staff is dedicated to seeing the students learn, improve, and apply techniques in real world self-defense scenarios under stress. Krav Maga, kickboxing and grappling (did them all) are only as fun and effective as the quality of the coaching and the quality of the people you train with.
