First off, this place is not stroller friendly as there are steps just to get in. Once you're in, only the cash register and a few racks/shelf are on the same level. You have to go upstairs to see the cribs. You go down some stairs to look at clothes, some gear, bassinets, etc. Then at the back, you go down some more stairs to see the strollers, car seat, gates and eating utensils. The parking is the worse as you drive in and it's angle parking. The spots are tight and the only way to exit is to back out of the spot and hope that no one parks in the area by the store entrance. If there is a car in that area, then you would have to back onto Bridgeport Road, which is a blind spot since there is a fence/shrub in the way which is dangerous. They should block of the area ( front and west of the entrance ) so that people can back into that area and turn around. When I went, the staff was helpful and it was busy there. I was looking for some items where it said online that it was available. The staff checked and found the items I wanted, but did mention that it was the last ones. They have lots of good items for your baby's needs from bottles, strollers, cribs, bassinet, lots of clothing, etc. The return policy is the usual one, where it's 14 days for refund with receipt, 30 days for store credit/exchange and receipt. You will need your receipt or there's no refund/credit. I really hope that whomever owns this location, would decide to lease the empty big box store in the strip mall beside them. I think that empty store used to be some furniture store. It would be so much better as the parking lot of that strip mall is huge, the empty store is ground level so you can use your stroller and it looks like it can fit all the items in the store and more. read more

Have had many poor customer service experiences with this store. We have had items ordered and not received yet, they will not honour price drops on these items. Overall will not recommend. read more

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE In need of something for your infant or toddler? There's a hidden gem on Bridgeport tucked away in the light industrial businesses - West Coast Kids (WCK) offers good products and service that will likely meet your needs! === 2. PRODUCT / SERVICE In this day of online markets (Amazon, etc.) it's always refreshing to be able to go into a brick-and-mortar location to see the product and (literally) get a feel for it prior to purchase. The 10 day return policy and ability to speak to a person helps too! On this day, I was looking for a pillow for my toddler and was immediately greeted by multiple people offering to help, one of which led me around and upstairs to what I needed, and identified the pillow that would best meet my little one's needs. The age group served ranges likely from infant to toddler - my three year old is running out of things that meet his needs at this time; I wish we knew about this place sooner! === 3. ENVIRONMENT The store has two levels; it has bottles to baby strollers and everything in between. Speaking of which, wheelchairs and baby strollers would fit in just fine, but I don't remember seeing an elevator to get to the second floor. Parking is interesting - there are a number of spots in the private lot, though most are at an angle with the only way out being to back out. read more

Went to do some early Black Friday shopping today and I have to say I'm really impressed with the parking space available as compared to the Main location. (Why don't I come to this location more?!) With COVID precaution in place they have a virtual line up system where you can hold your spot in line to enter the store while you wait in the car to help minimize the number of people in the store at once. I only had to wait about 5-10 mins before I got notified that it was my turn to enter. Upon entering there were store representatives available to assist. To sum up my trip today I was in and out within 20 mins for an exchange and purchase. By the end of my transaction my item was already waiting outside with another representative ready to be loaded into my car. read more

This store. Is breathtaking. It's two floors Upstairs lines along one wall just stunning cribs and gliders are so comfy hahaha. The stroller car seat area is impeccably tidy and all the strollers are straight and nicely arranged. Stoppable space for test driving them. I'm really amazed is how the stroller colors are also showcased. So that shoppers can see the color of the stroller they want. As we all know. Swatches don't always capture the same shade perfectly. Not a huge deal. But still. I saw the babocush today. I knew of this several years ago. I never seen one. In person. But. Today. I saw it. And. It was mounted to the top of a mamaroo bounce omg!!! I had no idea you could do that. How neat. There was also a interesting swiveling crib with swaddle at the front of the store which was quite unique. They have every color under the sun for hair accessories and I gotta say. Kids lose clips all the time and these things sell like hot potatoes hahaha. They have a fantastic selection of shoes boots and even hand knitted shoes for babies Clothing section. Some of those tops was to die for. I saw a pizza t shirt. Omg. My friend would like that for her son. Need to find out what size he's in now though. The online photos doesn't do this store justice. It really doesn't. You should definitely go in for a browse. Bring your wallet cuz this place has so much to offer in the form of selection. You might find yourself picking up more than one of some items. Cuz it's all too cute to pass up. One area that really stuck me as omg so tidy. Was the blanket and swaddle wall. It was so tidy. I was impressed. And I'm not easy to impress when it comes to uniform neatness. Even every jellycat basket display was neat and that's HARD to do in a baby store where toddlers come and can trash a section in minutes. Great job girls. Keep up the awesome work. Can't wait to visit again. ;) read more

Reading other reviews, I am honestly so surprised as I love this store and the staff. I am going to be a father for the first time in a few months, and this store's customer service has been nothing short of amazing for my wife and I. We recently purchased a dresser from this location after scouring baby stores for one that we truly wanted. The dresser we decided on showed up as being in stock at this location, but just needed to be located in the warehouse. Since we don't have a large enough vehicle, we rented a van and returned the next day. We called ahead to let the store know we would come to pick up the dresser, but it turned out that there was an inventory error, and the dresser was not actually in stock. The manager Paige was so great, and did everything she could to make sure our time had not been wasted that day. She also personally made sure that our dresser was reordered and checked in with us the entire time. As for the rest of the staff, I have had multiple positive experiences. They have taught us how to use our car seat, showed us great local brands, and taught us how to use a carrier. Yes this store can seem pretty pricey, but the prices are comparable to other baby shops. I personally am okay with my money going to a great Canadian company that highlights quality products like Westcoast Kids does. My only wish would be for a more lenient return policy in case I don't end up using something, but to be honest, I haven't run into a subpar product yet at this store. read more

This company does not disclose that they drop ship some products. It has been a month and the product has not shipped. The website says 6-10 days for shipping. Customer service will do nothing about it and says they cannot cancel the order. read more

How can you resist buying items when they're for your kids? Well, when you see the prices and the lousy return policy, it's not that easy to resist. :) Canadian consumers don't have much protection when it comes to purchasing rights. So it's best to keep a clear perspective on what you want and what you need before plunking down on more stuff that usually last a short while before it's replaced or outgrown. West Coast Kids in Richmond basically carry the same items you find in specialty baby and kid stores around the greater Vancouver area. The edge is in finding a store with the best customer service. One that will take the time to help you decide, than sales talk you. My first time in going here, I didn't find either of this from the store. The next two visits were getting better. The salespeople became as helpful as they were friendly from the start. My gripe is that the organization in this store is cramped and all over the place. There are cribs on the lower level as well as the upper level. This store definitely needs an overhaul to encourage a better shopping experience. It's best to check out their website and pricing first so you can make a list of what you want to see in person. Once you go there, it's hard to remember what you need when you basically will want everything. read more

West Coast Kids - Baby Gear & Furniture Near Me - Richmond, British Columbia

I stopped by this location as it was closer than the Main Street location. We asked one of the staff members for a particular size crib bedsheet and she never got back to us regarding the supply. We did buy what we were originally looking for. If the item is in stock, you will find what you need then. read more

West Coast Kids - Baby Gear & Furniture Near Me - Richmond, British Columbia

Yup I go there all the time for my daughter - mainly because I do not have a choice ( live in Richmond). Richmond and the concept "customer service" is like archenemies - does not, cannot and will not exist. Just the way it is. ( e.g. After waiting a good 15 mins for a pair of UGG boots, the rep comes back , doesn't even apologize but says " Oh you are the one waiting for this?? I was giving it to someone else!!" Sure thing lady I will remember to do your job for you next time, no worries) I find the problem with this store is something else- the sense of entitlement??? the ladies working here have! It's like they have made the merchandise out of their own blood sweat and tears!!!! I get people are spending their money here but seriously it has nothing to do with you. At the end of the day you are still there, working in a retail store where customers are spending their own money -so please get over yourself and come down your from high horse. read more

I called today inquiring about minimocs for my baby and the lady on the phone was really helpful. She looked checked to see if they had a size 5 in their richmond store, and she also went through their system to see if the Vancouver branch had some... unfortunately they didn't have anymore minimocs in that size. She said that their online store would be the best place to buy it; so she saved me a lot of time and money. I really thought the lady I spoke with was incredibly helpful and went out of her way for me. read more

1) Poor customer service. Don't expect to get any knowledgeable help if you shop here. I really feel that if you have a speciality shop such as this one, you should also have specialists who can help you. The sales associate didn't know anything about the baby carrier I wanted and I was the one telling her the difference between the one I wanted and the one she was showing me. The day I went, there were so many people working but they were more interested in socializing with each other. Note to the owner: when it comes to hiring staff, choose QUALITY over QUANTITY. 2) Isn't it common sense to make a baby store stroller-friendly? You would think so but not this store. There are stairs everywhere and the store is so cramped so don't bother coming in with your stroller. 3) Several people have already mentioned it but I'll say it again: Parking sucks. If you know what you want & you're in the area then great, otherwise I wouldn't bother going here. read more

I'll start with the exterior, lacks parking space. The parking spots are so narrow. There are plenty of stairs, so if you have a baby and would like to come shop, just be prepared and bring a carrier or carry your infant in your arms. Unfortunately, The first staff member I came across, was SO unwilling to help. I had my son in my right arm and was trying to pick up the Baby Bjorn travel crib, (I wish I got her name) she stood there and watched me struggle. Finally, I decided to ask her if someone could assist me, she over unenthusiastically rolled her eyes as she (like a child) stomped her feet to go get someone. I will never come back to this store. Best advice to those who are interested in shopping from this company, go to their website. Poor customer's service. read more

- Location = fair (richmond), although they are opening a main street location that would probably be better. The staff were quite helpful and were able to guide us on purchases for strollers, car-seats and cribs. - not enough parking space - baby registry & associated completion program is nice - their online ordering and registry system is above average - Prices are fair (some higher-priced, some have deals) for a specialty store carrying specialty items. Some of the furniture lines in particular are reaaally overpriced, but that's the baby-industry for you. I have to call attention to their warehouse and backroom. We ordered a glider from them, only to have it arrive in a basically broken/repaired box. This is new (not-floor-model) product that they expect people to be willing to take in. WestCoastKids informed us that they have to stack product on top of each other because of the size, resulting in those types of damages. Funny, because Home Depot, Sears, The Brick, or TJsKids don't seem to have those issues with large heavy items like chairs/recliners. We've had numerous friends all have the same story about damaged or badly-shipped/badly-handled product when dealing with them. This is not a black mark on the staff, as they are doing everything they can do educate us, but the company as a whole really needs to invest more in it's supply-chain and warehouse inventory management. I'd recommend WestCoastKids with extreme hesitation for specialty items, and certainly push friends/family away from anything large (ie. stroller, crib, furniture, gliders). You can do better elsewhere on Marine drive or United Boulevard. read more

I shop here when they have promotions on items not typically on sale. They have good selection and lots of items on display. HOWEVER. The customer service is deplorable. There is always lots of staff on. None of them ever seem willing to help you. The ladies who work the stroller/high chair section are so so rude. Like I'm pretty sure you're back here to demo the merchandise. So why act like it's a huge inconvenience to do so???? The other staff is generally busy talking amongst themselves. Usually loudly. Return policy sucks. To top it off this child/baby store isn't accessible to strollers. Like at all. Stairs everywhere. So I'm usually carrying my baby while shopping. And still the plentiful staff offers no assistance. read more

Wow. This is a baby store with stairs at the entrance and NO ramp or way to get your stroller in. We had to carry up the stairs. Pathetic. Once inside there were 2 extremely rude women working who literally FOLLOWED me around like a criminal. I was holding my baby due to the fact there is also stairs everywhere inside so I had to inconveniently take her out of stroller. So how could I steal with a baby in my arms?! Disgraceful service and worst employees ever. I plan to call the owner ASAP and make a complaint. Don't waste your time !!! Take your $$ else wear because it's also expensive. read more

Customer service would be 4 stars for me. An employee won't walk by you without seeing if you've been helped, it's really great. Especially with baby stuff, as we often have no idea how to choose between all of the options etc. Product wise, they're probably really about 2 or 3 stars. They have some really, really nice stuff, but for bigger things, they don't actually carry everything, so you often have to make special orders (when this happens, we just go through amazon and save a bunch of money and usually get it faster- sorry WCkids). Another example of this is that when we went to buy a bassinet, we would have had to take one of the floor models, which grossed me out a bit, so we went elsewhere for that. Otherwise they have really nice stuff. If I had to register somewhere or get a gift card for one baby store, this would be it. read more

Pros and cons. Pro - they've got some really cute stuff made by local Vancouver small shops that you can't find at some of the other big-name baby stores. Con - customer service is terrrrrrrible. Especially at the Main Street location! One example - I called ahead to ask the girl to put aside the car seat I needed, and specified the model - clarified NOT the more expensive version. I checked with her at least three times while at the store (you have to buy it sight unseen, and then they send you around to the back to pick it up). You're sure it's not the Lido model? Yes. I am sure. Stop asking, gosh. Sure enough, when the receipt was printed...it was for the more expensive version. Come on. You had one job. NOTE - I had absolutely phenomenal service from Azima at the Richmond location. Horray! I called both Main Street and Richmond, and she did some amazing digging to find what I needed (the duplicate of a mattress that someone else had bought for me). Called me back twice, located the product, and set it aside for me. ........Main Street said they'd call too. Only silence so far. Go see Azima. read more

Poor customer service. Called to see if an item was in stock. Gave them the brand, model it was for and the to product name. Went to pick it up at the store after arranging for a babysitter and a car as we were picking up a mattress too. Got home only to realize they had put the wrong item aside. So all the hassle for us to make our way down to the Richmond store was a waste of time. DO NOT ASSUME. make sure you check yourself since it seems like most of the staff are incompetent. This is the second time that I've had to deal with them giving me the wrong item. I should have checked myself the second time around. Boo westcoast kids. read more

My husband bought a $19 guzzie + guss cupholder about a month and half ago. I received another cupholder as a gift thats for our uppababy cruz stroller (bought from there) a few days later which i liked better. I went in the store and talked to somebody at the cashier to exchange the item without the receipt. She then told me that I CAN EXCHANGE the item and that it shouldn't be a problem. So I went around the store and picked out a few stuff. To make the story short, i was going to leave the store with almost $100 worth of merchandise (uppababy snack tray, whole body bib). But as I was paying, the lady thats on the cashier when i walked in is not there anymore and was replaced by SANDRA which was so unapproachable and didn't even acknowledge my presence as i came to the till. I told her the situation and she immediately said NO and that its a store policy etc. etc. I then told her what was told and that her colleague told me a different answer otherwise. She then told me that "Well, I AM THE MANAGER and NO I cant do anything about it unless you provide me with a receipt!". I then paid for the items that I purchased and was handed the bag. No word exchange between us (so much for customer is always right so maybe you should thank me anyway since i just paid and bought stuff even if I was unhappy with the service). Walking in the car I had that feeling of annoyance of how I have been treated. So I went back inside and return everything that i bought. In a business point of view, I did not understand why the store would care so much over a receipt. The packaging of what i was returning was intact with the barcode and price tag attached. And I was purchasing something thats 5x more expensive than what I was returning. And as the so called MANAGER I am pretty sure that she could have done something. And also, you should train your employee to not tell customer one thing and other say another. You should be in the same page and your story straight! I will never go back to this store and would definitely campaign so people don't either. Over priced, poor parking and now misleading and rude staff. And to "MANAGER SANDRA" you should learn to be more compassionate and should work on your PR. You work at a kids store and deals with new moms or soon to be moms afterall! read more

very bad experience here. Spent $5K in this shop before my baby was due. Crib and furniture was very late. They delivered one piece on a tuesday then called wednesday to say the balance of our order was ready for delivery. They actually made me pay TWO delivery charges of $90! Appalling after having spent so much money and waiting so long. Total shortsighted jerks! Don't recommend these guys. We didn't expect much from the store before visiting them. All we wanted was to test drive the 2 strollers that we're deciding between. To our surprise, the sales staff was EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable. I'm one of those guys who researches EVERYTHING before making a purchase and I get quite annoyed when sales person tries to BS their way through to make a sale. Anyway, the girls/ladies knew all the specs about all the strollers and car seats. We were really really impressed! We didn't end up buying anything as we're still deciding, but we'll be back to make our purchase for sure. Side note, I'm not sure if the sales person are commissioned, but we didn't feel pressured to buy at all! One of the ladies even told us to take our time after we told her our situation. It was a refreshing experience to shop here. Night and day comparing to our experience at Lussobaby and Crocodile. The store is packed and cramped but they do moved all the stuff aside for you to try out the strollers in the store. Also, they do have a great selection of merchandises in the store. You don't need to go anywhere else, this is where you can compare and buy the best products for what you need. read more

Totally agree with everyone. Worst customer service ever! Go to Crocodile Baby, Lussobaby Baby, Ella & Elliot you will be better off. I spend over $2K in this store & when I had a problem with the crib when I finally assembled it they were shocking! Now the crib spring is sagging, I phoned on Saturday haven't heard back from anyone & it's Monday night. In the meantime my baby can't sleep in a saggy crib! read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times as we've tried to find a convertible car seat that will meet our need for 3-across seating in the back of a regular non-minivan/crossover/suv. It's been made even more difficult due to carseats being un-returnable, a fact that the staff was clear and upfront about. The staff are knowledgeable and very, very friendly. At no point were we pressured or made to feel like we were wasting their time, and it seems like everyone who works there is a parent themselves. Earlier in the year while trying a demo model in our car, staff encouraged us to wait for a new model that was coming in the next month, as it would better suit our needs. You can't go wrong with a place that puts the customer's need before making a sale! The parking lot is difficult and the store is crammed full of demo-models - don't let these things deter you, as they more then make up for it with selection, knowledge and service. read more

Horrible customer service. First and only words to come out of the employee's mouth was "be careful with your drinks. I know you won't put it down on any of our furniture right?" Not even a "hello, how may I help you" Spoke to my wife and I like we were 5. Ruined our visit. Definitely not going back. read more

Three stars for selection but one and a half star for service (or lack thereof). For starters, there is like 8 parking spots which is half of what they need. Do not take a stroller into the store. It's way too cramped, cluttered and stairs everywhere-very bad design for a baby store. We tried to open a baby registry but they don't answer their phone or return messages. Staff is hit and miss, some are great and knowledgeable others not so much. Don't really feel like they need our business, could be so much better in a bigger location with parking and more (and more knowledgeable) staff. I would go to Lusso or Crocodile for service, Tjs for selection instead. read more

I came here with low expectations after a bad experience at Lusso Baby - and was pleasantly surprised. In spite of the incredibly busy store, the salespeople (in particular Paige) were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. There was no sense of being pressured to buy anything - I was encouraged to take my time in making a decision and I was given a variety of options to suit my budget. Found the crib, mattress, stroller and car seat that I wanted, as well as a few bedding items on sale. The only downsides were that the crib that I wanted (an item marked "in stock") was actually sold out and won't be in for 6 weeks and one of the girls at the front desk kept interrupting to ask the salesperson questions. Also, the parking lot is a nightmare, but you can find parking further down Bridgeport and the helpful shipping guy will carry and load everything in for you. Overall, big thumbs up - I will definitely be back. read more

Liars and thief's... We purchased a crib conversion kit from them. They had to ship it from a different store, so they said we could return it if we did not like it. Where do I even start. I've been into this store numerous times over the last 3 years. The customer service here is horrendous. It doesn't matter how many customers are in the store, the sales staff treat you like you're inconveniencing them even when you're making a substantial purchase. The second time I was in I was looking for a Stork Sak bag I had found in the states but wanted to spend my dollars in Canada. I was told, very snottily, by a sales associate that they didn't carry that brand of bag and then not 5 minutes later my friend found about 15 of them in various styles at the back of their diaper bag wall. They don't allow children to touch a single thing in the store despite being a "kids store" (unlike every single other children's store in the Lower Mainland) My final straw was when my husband and I were in the store 2 weeks ago. First when I went to ask for help with a product I was told with an exasperated sign that the sales lady "guessed so but I'm kind of busy at the moment." A few minutes later I overheard the same sales lady tear a man a new one who was asking her a question (I later learned he was an employee) and then turn to the customers she was helping and loudly proclaim that he was "a total moron." They have some nice, albeit pricey, stuff but the morale in this store needs some serious help. Needless to say, I'll be taking my business elsewhere from here on out. read more

The most terrible store I have ever been! My husband brought a nail cut after tax is over $60! Then I went to return on same day. But the sales didn't return it for me because the box was opened. Customer service is THE WORST! Honestly. I went in with my sister who had to pick up something that was ordered from her registry and could not believe the lack of customer service in this place. I wont bother getting into the details, but the nonchalantness and seeming lack of enthusiasm or interest and from the staff people was atrocious. We stood around for 15 minutes because they couldn't find the item that had been purchased, they couldn't even find her registry.... The staff sauntered around the place like there were on a Sunday stroll, not like they had paying customers waiting to be rung up. I wanted to scream when I walked out the door. So much frustration. As I said to my sister, if it was me I would not want to spend or have anyone I know spend a dime in that place. read more

Good selection, BUT terrible service! My wife and I have had major issues with the service at West Coast Kids. The management of the store is totally disorganized and does not live up to the bare minimum standard of service you would expect at any retail store in Canada. Westcoast kids is seriously the most retarded company ever. Ordering a product and spending $2000 there you would think you would get some service or free delivery. I go home and realize they forget to give me my mattress and the 2nd box to my bed. I go pick up mattress and they send me home with the wrong one. To find out they never even ordered my mattress and wants me to wait 2 months to reorder. After a horrendous experience at the Granville St LussoBaby, we decided to drop by West Coast Kids to see if they a crib and dresser set for us. We received excellent customer service from Rosalie, and another of their sale's girl that went out of their way to check stock levels for us. Rosalie was extremely knowledgeable in answering all our questions about the Natart line of furniture. They were even able to offer a 5% discount on the set which is what LussoBaby were offering as part of their supposedly amazing 6th anniversary sale (yeah right) straight off the bat. Only thing I would dock them for is their parking situation as it's tight and cramped, and there aren't too many stalls. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Long story short they have the WORST customer service out of pretty much all the baby stores (no wonder they don't allow reviews on their FB page). There are much better places to go with the same/more products for usually the same price or LESS. read more

One of the few exceptions is ensuring that competent and talented staff members receive the credit they are due. I have found Heidi to be a compassionate, considerate, attentive, and conscientious individual. Her dedication and exemplary worth ethic will make her a valuable influence on her peers. On June 24, 2013, my wife and I went to Westcoast Kids to purchase a baby stroller. We walked into the store thinking of purchasing the Britax B Ready. Britax Canada was offering a promotion of a free car seat or second seat. We were surprised that your store also sold the Uppababy line too. We were first approached by an older woman in her mid 20's to late 20's but told her we were not ready yet. A few minutes later, a younger Asian woman approached us and asked if we needed help. I politely told her that someone else was helping us. In honesty, I didn't want this young woman helping us because she really looked like a teenager, and thought she wouldn't know much. Well, was I shocked! We told her of the Britax promo but were also interested about the Uppababy too. Heidi showed us what the strollers looked like and how they are collapsed. Heidi closed and opened the strollers like a professional. I had commented her abilities, and she said that she owned an Uppababy and she is also a mother! We took Heidi's advice very seriously soon after! After a few minutes, Heidi told us the benefits of both strollers. There was so much information on the strollers and we didn't know what strollers would be the best fit for us. There was no pressure from her in making a sale. Heidi gave us as much space and time to decide. Even the smallest thing that Heidi did for us was great. For whatever reason, the air conditioning just turned off. My wife was fanning herself, and Heidi approached us with two complimentary bottles of water! We were both amazed with Heidi's knowledge and experience with the different products that Westcoast offered. We were amazed at her high level of professionalism. Her efforts to help were welcomed and appreciated. In the end, we decided to purchase an Uppababy stroller. Those who learn from others' experience are usually a step ahead of the rest.
