I like this Michael's location. It is clean and organized inside. The isles are spacious. Plenty of parking inside. They sell items ranging from t-shirts, art supplies to candies or kitchen items. Prices are not bad when it comes to picture frames. They also offer services on custom frames. read more

Just before 9:00 pm I scanned my purchase 181.00 - my daughter was having difficulty with her purchase and the manager was assisting her - I had a question about a price of items I thought were on sale - when the manager came to speak with me it was 9:00pm - we went to look at the sign to see the sale - I was mistaken- I had picked up the wrong items - I said one minute let me pick up the sale items and the manager said I'm sorry - the store is closed - I can put the items on hold for you. I was shocked as the rest of my purchase was already to be paid for - I cancelled the purchase and left - I will not return to that store read more

The first time I was at this location a fire alarm was going off, so we were all cleared out of the store and I was unable to purchase anything. This store is big, bright and clean. The employee's are the best out of any Michaels in the GVA. They will not only ask if you need assistance, but they will bring you to the section you are looking for and help you find your products. They will look up items that they themselves cannot locate, and give you great alternatives. Also if they see you in line, they will open up a register to check you out. (Such a difference then the staff at other locations who after you ask them, just say they don't have it - ) Michaels has a standing 30% off any regular item price (one per customer per day) which is a great help. However right now (mid-end of December the coupon is 40% off ) The only reason its 4 stars not five is because they were out of what I came to get (my casting resin) My fault for not checking the website before I left as it will tell you if an item is in stoclk or not, as well as the location store) read more

This location is very quiet and the staff is super helpful. They don't just walk by. They stop and ask if you need anything. They honor their prices. I found some lovely fabric... in USD$ and no CDN$ Price tags. Asked them. If they would sell it at the price equivalent or actual USD TO CAD 6.99 as $6.99. Cuz that would be a steal Yep. They were more than happy to ring up $13.00 fabric USD as $13 CDN so instead of $18+ they rang it up as $13 and I still was allowed to buy as much as I needed Most places would tell you limit one (we messed up but we will give you a meter max). Michaels gave you all you needed at the prices shown. One didn't even have a price. Barcode scanned at amazing usd price. Got that one too. They are very sparse on notions for sewing. And the layout of the supplies some of it in my opinion defying logic, and they have very little selection of sewing machines (but I wouldn't get one from a craft store) They focus heavily on yarn beads and craft cutters. Those you can find million accessories and items to use with it And they sell blank sweatshirts and tshirts. They have a decent selection of craft storage boxes. This is one of the BEST Michaels craft store in the Vancouver area. And what makes this Michael's one of the top stores is due to their staff. Arlyn and her team are fantastic. The staff members are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They always go above and beyond every time I need fresh water pearls or canvas for when I paint. I've been going to this store for about 13 years now; and I'm always pleased - 10/10. read more

I had to pick up some last minute Christmas supplies and since there was a 40% off coupon, I decided to take advantage. This is one of the newer and most organized Michael's store. The sales people are helpful and actually walked around the store with me for 10 minutes helping me look for a specific item that I needed. The parking is ample and it's always stress free to visit this particular store. Prices at Michael's are not the cheapest, but keep an eye out for the coupons they have about once a month. read more

On my quest for creativity I tend to come here A LOT. Pretty much anytime I take my dogs to their version of Disney Land (Petsmart) I make the fiance wait while I meander over to Michael's. I LOVE it here and their website makes it easy to pick out what you want and then go to the store and purchase it. They also have ideas for different creative endeavours. The store is almost always clean and it's easy to find what you are looking for. The staff are friendly and efficient about 80% of the time. I guess that's good for a big place like this but that is also the reason they have only received 4 stars. read more

I want to say this location is a solid 3.5. I would say I'm a pretty creative person and hit up this location about once a month or more. Their paper crafts are heavily stocked and with a large variety of items. Their sewing goods however are a little lacking in variety vs their Broadway location There is lots of parking, but to be honest the prices are a little overpriced for specific items - so be sure to always look up for coupons before entering - some days they have really great coupon deals that are not just 40% off one item, but maybe a 30% off your entire purchase. I have to admit these days are the best to go because during your check out time it's like playing a great "and the price is......" game when the checkout girl hits the enter button to reveal your total amount of purchases. Trust me you can save a lot. But like I said, only during this time. Be sure to have coupons because they won't always ask if you have coupons. The workers are helpful when you can locate one ~ and if they know what it is you're looking for. It's very common for me to find few checkout lanes open, and very long lines. read more

Arlyn is so kind and friendly and helpful. She far exceeded my expectations for service. I have been to MANY Michaels and other craft stores and this one by far is #1 not just for items and selection but for customer service as a whole. I almost bought what I needed on amazon but really wanted to see and feel it in person first and I am glad I did. So happy to have met the friendly staff here. Great hours too! The washi were buy two get one but when i went to pay she said no only selected ones. I said but how do I know which ones? She said you have to scan them all. there was a whole wall of them. One that i got was 3.99 and the rest I left at the store. Tempted to email head office. There should be a dot or a mark on the ones on sale like when you buy clothes. read more

I signed up for their cake decorating course a year ago. I found that the instructor was easy to follow, semi encouraging, class was fun, lots of hands on experience and practice inside and outside of class. Supplies are not included, however, discounted for students who buy their kits from Michael's. You can use your 50% off coupons as well. Honestly it's a "find it your self" kind of place. There is no one in the isle to help you, we had to go up front and ask for help but the cashier who you would think would be all about customer service was no help at all cause she couldn't even speak English. Dont get me wrong I'm not that guy. But until you've learned how to speak English you probably shouldn't be in a position where people are going to ask you for help read more

I used to really love Michaels as I could actually get some materials to create stuff. I don't know what happened but it seems like the store transformed itself to a combine a few existing stuff together to create something. They also no longer have canvas stretching bars, which is too bad, as not many places sell those and I used to get mine from there. They do, however, offer bigger art project toys/gifts which is nice when you have kids and need to buy presents on a regular basis, but I wish it maintained its previous approach of offering raw materials to work with. read more

I visited this Michaels location May 10th - and experienced the same treatment again as previous ones. Staff doesn't know how to greet a customer and worse, make faces as if you're the most unwanted person in there. Moreover, she made me feel so unwelcome when I asked if I can apply a coupon to one item. She didn't reply after 2 attempts so I asked the 3d time 'then' she replied in a rude manner saying that she already applied it. Yes, but she applied the discount on the cheapest item. (If she was on the other side of the counter, would she want to use the coupon for the more pricey item or cheaper item?) Since she was rude, I asked her if there was something bothering her or is there a problem. So she'd be aware of how she comes across other people. Upon checking out, I decided to double check (I don't usually do it from this store) the whole transaction since I noticed how she was passing the items thru the code reader. True enough...it was wrong. Items on receipt showed 8 items when I only had 7 items. So I went in again and asked her. She didn't even apologized and just said that I'll refund it to you. That's it. And that was the item that she applied the coupon to. So much for that coupon thing. Sad to say that I'm getting discouraged coming to this location. This is so close to home and too bad that the staff aren't as friendly as the one at the Coquitlam location. I hope the management will do something about this. I know that Michaels is a big store and that majority of the craft stores here closed business 'coz they actually took over. And that's the reason why people come to their store. If there are a lot of other stores around, I would say that this craft store will lose customers! Their items are ridiculously pricey (thanks to some coupons they offer but staff are upset when we use them) - and if staff are not aware of what good CS is.....customer count will drop. read more

They have cool stuff but terribly overpriced. Who is going to pay $60-100 for a memorial wreath, also with a risk it will be stolen?? I find it weird that this is the only local store where I can find memorial items - yet - of all the places, a craft store?? The store is also understaffed with only 2-3 people running it and you have to search high and low for help only to discover they have no clue what you're looking for and are not interested. read more

Michaels is one of my fav places to shop and so far had good shopping experiences except for the fact that for the last few years, it's kind of hard to find a soul there to help you out. And my recent experience in this location wasn't good either. I was looking for a certain product and after about 20 minutes of browsing the shelves and not finding the item decided to look for help which I found after touring the whole store and finally had to come up front to find someone to call another staff. I was informed that they DO NOT carry that product and never had carried it before either. Desperate to find it for a project, I emailed the person who posted it online and surprisingly she replied back to me and advised me to call the manufacturer which I wasn't successful either. I finally decided to check the other locations and ask if they by any chance have that product. True enough - Michaels actually CARRY THAT PRODUCT! I asked 2 locations and they both have it. Asked the HO and same reply. I WISH THAT THEY WILL NOT GIVE A WRONG INFORMATION saying that they NEVER carried a certain product...simply because they didn't have it at that location since it is out of stock. I almost didn't want to go for that project anymore but I want to give it as a gift to a friend and had promised that I'll do it that's why I tried asking for it at other places. Aside also from having the items overly priced in there, and still not receive a right information will drive people off. Also, a lot of times that we felt like the staff doesn't like it when we use coupons when purchasing there. Surprising...the discounts are not being taken from their pockets anyways. The last time I reviewed this store was a few years ago and my how things have changed. I frequent here A LOT because a) I love to craft and b) it is close to home. However, the very nice lady that I encountered before no longer works here. The staff is really warm or cold. There are a few very cold people (2 larger older ladies that I can't tell apart and a male manager) and a few warm people (a few younger ladies who are pleasant and helpful). I really like to shop their sale and clearance items. Never, ever buy something regular price because you can get a coupon or just like Gap, everything goes on sale sooner than later. The parking lot is huge and Winners is right next door. Unfortunately, it is the closest location to me so I guess I just have to wait and see each trip if I will get someone warm or cold.
