High quality brands of toys for reasonable prices. Lots of crafts for various ages. Large selection of dollhouses and accessories. Small book selection, mostly featuring Canadian topics. My children were waiting patiently for me to clean up our table and were against the window looking in the store. I went to walk in with them and buy them some toys for being good all day. A younger person came and opened the door as I approached and I thought they were going to open the door for us but quite the opposite happened. The person came outside and angrily told my children that they were too close to the glass and needed to back away from the store. I have never seen such terrible treatment of children at a toy store. Seriously? I don't know why anyone would want to buy anything from a place that treats children so poorly.

Not to mention having a hobby store in a town our size is definitely a boon. I buy all my supplies there. Thank You

Two out of the last three years I either couldn't make it very early or couldn't make it at all for Free Comic Book Day. The Staff suggested I send a Facebook message listing the titles I really wanted and they would try and set aside copies, and they did both years. I traded in a short box of comics for store credit. Realized of course that they couldn't give me retail value before doing it, but still got more than I was expecting. The amount of titles they stock from large, small and medium publishers alike is impressive. They have fulfilled several special orders I've requested. The Game Room for RPG, card games, etc. is spacious and inviting. Feel pretty fortunate to have this store in my area.

Supplying many of these hobbies have been relegated to a few shelves in big-box craft shops like Michaels and Hobby Lobby in the US. Once I found Imperial Hobbies on Yelp during our vacation and it was near our hotel, I made my plans. I dropped my wife off for her spa day and this was going to be my spa day ;) The store is in a group of buildings almost at the end of the runway of Vancouver Airport (YVR). If you hang around, you'll see tons of airliners approaching for landings and roaring off on take offs. I just couldn't believe the selection of plastic models of planes, armor, cars and trucks along with complete selections of paint and finishing materials. It's these types of stores that I would spend hours in as a boy, but could only stare wide-eyed because I never had much money back then. But now as an adult with a job and disposable income, I probably would have gone broke if I didn't have to pack everything into my luggage to fly home. The favorable CAD$ to USD$ exchange rate also helped a lot in my shopping. I ended up with a couple of scale plastic model kits and a flying model rocket that are rare, out of production kits or very hard to find, even on-line.

I went in with the intention of buying a ready-to-fly airplane, which generally start in the $200 range. Despite wanting to spend that sort of money at a local shop, I was greeted with rude customer service and a total lack of information. A few years later, I went back to purchase an RC 4x4 truck, this time in the $400 range. And despite wanting to spend this sort of money in his shop, the owner (by this time, I have identified the man as the owner) continued to be disprespectful and unhelpful. Not super great for a 'local hobby shop.' Finally, in early 2015, I tried to run in to get a replacement control board and ESC for a quadcopter project I am working on. THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS FOR QUADCOPTERS. I will confess, the gentleman at the front was finally somewhat helpful and actually was able to answer my questions (The owner was in the back working on some project). I was told that I could buy a NEW QUADCOPTER and tear the parts out of that. lolwut?
