Ask the Community - West Broad Kia

Auto armor required when purchasing a vehicle?

Vince, if the auto armor has already been applied to the in-stock vehicle, then yes. If you prefer not to have the auto armor, we can order a vehicle for you, unless it is a high demand / low supply vehicle like the Telluride and any hybrid model.

I come from a family of VW owners, I even went to the original Woodstock and a micro bus with my parents. That said it is because of the experience with this and other Volkswagen dealers that we have decided to sell all 4 of our families VWs. Never again will any of us drive a VW solely based on the fact that the mechanics and the service department are completely clueless and seemingly dishonest. I wish I had a fraction of the tens of thousands of dollars I have wasted at the dealership for them to tell me that they're fixing problems only to find out that there was no problem or that they didn't fix the right problem at all. We have lost complete faith in west broad Volkswagen and pretty much all Volkswagen dealers ability to solve even simple problems like fixing an air conditioner. It's really sad because I've always loved the brand and I Have had absolute brand loyalty going back to the 60s and they just don't know what they're doing and you end up with cars they literally cannot be fixed. I've got two Volkswagens right now that I have paid probably $10,000 between the two of them to have Repaired over and over and they just are stealing from me at this point and are still broken. I don't know that they're dishonest so much as they are completely incompetent. I'm gonna move onto brands where they actually have qualified mechanics that know how to repair the cars that they sell. It's been a good run VW but I'm tired of hemorrhaging money on incompetence.

I asked each dealer to provide written quotes so I could compare everything clearly and consistently. I detailed the exact specs/trim I was looking for. Prior to sending that message, about a week previously I did visit this dealership in person and completed a test drive. They were friendly during this visit, and I liked that they left me take the vehicle out by myself with no time constraints. Following that visit, I received multiple follow-ups, every day, over the next week across texts, phone calls, and emails (all on the same day). While I understand the importance of follow-up, the frequency felt excessive--especially since I had not responded or engaged further. When it came time to give me quotes, communication didn't align with my request to handle things in writing. Instead of receiving a clear written quote early on, I was asked to discuss details over the phone. I had specifically asked to keep communication via email to stay organized. The initial quote I did receive was for a vehicle with over 7,000 miles, which I later confirmed was a manager-driven/demo vehicle. The mileage was not disclosed from the outset, and the pricing was not competitive compared to other dealers offering actual new vehicles. After that, there were attempts to reconnect and reset the conversation, but I never received a clean, written quote on a new vehicle that matched my requested configuration. Just a request for me to call them on the phone and talk. I already had six quotes in hand from other dealers on vehicles with 0 to 15 miles, with all but one of them cheaper than what they quoted for a car with 7,000+ miles on it. In the end, I chose to move forward with another dealer who gave a great quote the first time in writing, included an accessory package as well, and made it a simple and straightforward process. I trust these folks are nice people based on my initial interactions, but folks are usually nice when they are trying to attract a sale. I appreciate the effort to follow up, but overall the experience didn't align with what I was looking for in the buying process or respectful of the information I provided to all dealers to give a level playing field (give me your best quote upfront then I'm making a decision the next day).

We will continue to strive in making your car buying experience a relaxed, fun, and stress-free process." Count us among Gary's new-found friends and endorsers. In our case, we had an unusual set of transportation needs. We were looking for a high-end RV to support our plans for cross-country roadtrips. Suffice it to say that our needs didn't match the typical run-of-the-mill item in Gary's inventory. But, leave it to Gary to find what we were looking for... A beautiful, previously owned, low-mileage, pristine condition, Mercedes/Airstream RV! Who could have imagined?!? It has proven to be the ideal vehicle for us and we love it!. This is a great illustration of the lengths Gary will go to in order to make new friends and satisfied customers. We managed to conclude a transaction for the RV quickly and easily. Gary and the other members of his team were very helpful and wonderful to work with. Gary is very personable and plain-spoken in helping to find the right vehicle at the right price. We very quickly felt at ease with Gary and the sense that we were working with a trusted friend. Based on our experience with Gary, we're confident you'll have a similar experience. Though we live in the Washington, DC area, we plan to return to Gary's Community Auto the next time we need a car and I'm sure he'll find just the right thing for us once again. Happy car shopping!

I will update what my experience is as I navigate this situation…read more I purchased a pre-owned Subaru Forrester for our first year VCU teen on Sept16. The vehicle has 113k miles and a very good carfax of maintenance history. The car has a 30day power train warranty. My salesperson was Mr. Carr who was extremely personable and this seemed to be exactly the right fit for a vehicle. I drove the vehicle which operated well and made the purchase after 2 test drives finding it to be a good basic car at a reasonable price. At the time of purchase the AC was working very well. We have just relocated to Richmond from New Orleans. My teen is not used to freeway driving so the car has not been driven often yet but it is meant to be a daily ride. I drove the car today and to my surprise and disappointment the A/C is completely out. It pours HOT air into the car with the A/C on. Even the vent/ac off pours hot air. Of course when shopping for a used car there is a worry I might be buying a used car with a problem but I've owned many Subaru and I'm confident in the brand. I also chose to buy at a dealership for honesty and reliability rather than a random car lot. Obviously I would not have purchased a vehicle with no air conditioning so I contacted Mr. Carr who does remember the A/C working well and also spoke with the sales manager who name I don't recall. The sales manager will be contacting me back with a date to bring the vehicle in to access the issue. Today is October 4th and I'll update this review as the experience unfolds. I think you can really learn so much about a business when there is an obstacle or problem with a product. I hope to update with a glowing outcome! First update Oct 5th (next day) I received a text from my salesperson saying that the sales manage apologizes for not calling back with a service resolution yesterday, but he was able to offer me the option of two different service appointments tomorrow. That's great news because the he had said that appointments were running about a week out but he would try to work something out. He must've fit me in. I've taken an appointment for 7:30 tomorrow morning and given the name of a particular person to ask for so I'm assuming this person has been briefed on the situation and will do their best to resolve things smoothly. October 6th I went to the dealership for my prearranged appointment and asked for Jamie as instructed. She was called down to meet with me and arrived promptly. She kindly assured me that they would perform a comprehensive assessment and she assured me that since I had just purchased a vehicle that repairs would be covered by the dealership. I appreciate it that she stated this very clearly without any double speak in case the repair was costly. I was offered an Uber home or the option to wait during the assessment. I elected to wait and in about an hour the helpful service person who was J.J. came to let me know that the repairs are completed. The problem is found to be an intermittently faulty relay. JJ let me know that not only was this replaced but testing was done on the compressor using die to make sure that there was no additional freon leaking or other problem that may surface later. I appreciate the fact that they took the opportunity to fully assess the problem to avoid future repairs and also that this was fully explain to me. My experience has been that everyone at this dealership has taken my repair as an opportunity to show professionalism and their commitment to customer service. I am extremely pleased with outcome of my potential problem. I would definitely recommend this dealership, their service department, and my sales person Mr. Carr.

I had a terrific experience buying a used Toyota RAV4 at Grace Auto Sales this week. When I chose the less expensive model of the two cars I was considering, Soto never tried to convince me to buy the pricier model. He agreed that the one I chose seemed to be the right fit. Soto and all of his colleagues were pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was laid back yet efficient. It's very important to me to support local businesses and a bonus when the business is family-owned. It's refreshing to be in the presence of folks who seem to enjoy their jobs and one another. I will update this review if anything goes wrong with the car. Otherwise, assume I'm a happy customer. NOTE: I suggested to the owner that he consider doing away with the scented candle that was burning in the front office. I made the point that while the candle smelled nice enough, many folks (myself included) are very sensitive to fragrances (as evidenced by the booming market of fragrance-free products). The owner received my feedback good-naturedly enough, but left the candle burning as he walked away. Meanwhile, I had to excuse myself, go out to the car and take an antihistamine, before I could return inside to complete the transaction because multiple chemical sensitivity is a real thing and those of us who have it spend extra time and money to avoid being overwhelmed by the off-gassing of scented products and services. I wonder how many folks complain about not having a scented candle burning when they shop for cars. ;-)
