Very disappointing and it seems like things here really slid downhill. Service at the bar is pretty good and the drinks were excellent. We didn't get our salads that came with our meals. My wife ordered the gnocchi and steak and it came out very overcooked, which they graciously corrected. But it couldn't have been more than a 3 ounce piece of steak. I got the shrimp and grits. Shrimp is very tasty, but the grits were like water. It was very relaxed and comfortable. I noticed the poor guy across from us. Got there two pretzel appetizer that came out seconds before their meals. Not good timing. read more

This is not a Mexican restaurant (lol) We stopped here before a concert and it was PACKEEED. The service was very, very slow and they forgot our drinks a few times. The ambiance is beautiful, and I loved sitting at the bar. A few people around us ordered food which looked pretty good. Great spot to stop for some good food and drinks. Very bright and new feeling atmosphere inside. The service was incredibly slow for the place being pretty empty I will say however. My wife and I split the chicken and waffles bites appetizer. This was a unique way of doing chicken and waffles. They don't actually come with any waffles, instead, the chicken itself is fried in a waffle batter. It was topped with a spicy syrup. Highly recommend trying this dish, very flavorful. read more

We were greeted at the door and seated in a nice booth after the hostess asked if it was where we wanted to sit. Ordered a raspberry lemon drop it was very good, kids meal menu was a good variety, kids got soft drinks with their meal. I got shrimp and grits and it came with a good mixed greens salad I got right away, my daughter got a salad with her chicken and bow tie pasta too. The shrimp and grits was seasoned well had lots of decent sized shrimp I had to cut up to eat and was very cheesy. My daughter's pasta dish was big more than she could eat , I tried it sauce was well seasoned, lots of chicken. Kids hamburger was big we had to cut it in half and he had Mac n cheese I tasted very cheesy and good too. Prices weren't bad , food was good so it was definitely worth it. I went here last night and I will never go back. They add on an 18% gratuity if you get food no matter your party size. Which would be fine... if the place was staffed so you actually got decent service. There was just one girl working both the bar with a lot of people seated around it and also a handful of tables. I'm not complaining about her, she was friendly and did the best she could with how many customers she had to take care of. I'm complaining about whoever runs the place and finds it appropriate to have such minimal staffing but at the same time requiring an 18% tip. Had lunch here with friends. Nice, clean open space with lots of room. Large bar area. The bartender is good and mixes beverages well. The food is also good, and the menu has many creative options to select from. On this trip, I had the cheeseburger with fries. It was prepared medium, just the way I wanted. Incredible food, service and ambiance. This place seriously has it all and I don't say that lightly. I have been a regular for the past year because their food is fresh and I love it but it really went to 5 stars in my book after I decided to host my engagement party there. Gina and her team were so attentive to our guest. I did not lift a finger the entire time. The hardest part of planning the event was deciding what food to order and Gina even helped with that. Best restaurant in downtown Youngstown (though I haven't tried the pricey Italian place across the street). I'm not sure why it's described as Mexican, I would call it "New American". Great modern ambiance, good service, and great food. The Chicken 34 is the best disn, the pasta with chicken Alfredo is a close second. Ribs are ok, would have preferred a less sweet sauce. Been here a handful of times for just cocktails and always found the experience to be pleasant enough, good service and a fair selection. Ate here for the first time recently and it was kind of ehh. The service was good and was delivered quickly but the turkey on the turkey pesto was very fatty and didn't have much of a pesto flavor. May need a new vendor or maybe a new way of cutting the turkey. It was large pieces of grilled turkey breast, that was good, but too large to be on a sandwich. However, I will say that the bartender recommended several items and the sandwich I close was outside of her list of suggestions. read more

I like the variety on their menu as well- something for everyone and if you're in the mood for something different you'll find that as well as a good burger. We stopped in on a Monday and downtown was quiet, but the food here was awesome. The signature West 34 chicken and grits and shrimp...fried chicken breast is the thing shrimp and grits never knew it needed! The veggies from the Yo appetizer were needed. Also, don't skip the pepper relish in the Yo! The service was also really good. Our server checked often to make sure we had all we needed. The food was just ok. The menu doesn't mention things like bacon on a grilled chicken sandwhich. The fries were extremely salty. Soda from the bar gun tastes like it hasn't been flushed in a while. Wow. My daughter had a softball tournament in Hubbard Oh. We were looking for a nice place to eat and watch the steeler game (Sunday). We found another place downtown - as we went to park across the walkway was West 34. Looked very nice - open garage doors etc. so we decided to go there instead. We had a few appetizers and several drinks while watching the steeler game and others over several TV's. We stayed for a few hours! Great atmosphere and met the owner who we spoke to at length! Highly recommend! We live in Pittsburgh, and this place resembles a few of the upscale places we frequent! read more

Very nice and modern space. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. The food was for the most part very good. I'm not the biggest fan of brussels sprouts but I liked the bacon and peach glaze. I would have drained the grease off the bacon a little more. The sweet and spicy honey sriracha chicken bites stole the show. Excellent. My grilled chicken with Italian green sandwich was also good. I would have liked more greens and fewer bell peppers. I'm a huge fan of shoestring fries but I wasn't enamored with whatever coating was on them. read more

Great food the chicken sandwich was delicious as were the fries thin and crispy. The greens and beans are some of the best in town. Also the beef stroganoff was very good which a friend had and another the shrimp salad. Our server was Kylie with blonde hair. She was a great server. We will be back. read more
