I am updating my rating after receiving a very gracious and genuine phone call from the Branch Manager Cecil. After learning about my experience described in the previous review, Cecil called me to apologize for my experience and to learn in more detail what happened to me so that he could remedy the situation and make sure things like that don't happen in the future. He seemed sincere and truly concerned about my experience. The fact that I received a call from Cecil was a relief to me. I was able to tell him the whole story of my experience, and he listened carefully. It makes me feel much better about my existing relationship with Wescom, and the fact that someone higher up actually cared about my relationship with them. Cecil actually took the time to explain to me why there would potentially be an issue in making my deposit. He listened and offered reasoning behind the scenes instead of just saying no. I am a reasonable person and can understand if there are certain things that cannot be done. But to simply dismiss me as if I had done something wrong without explanation is where my concern was. Cecil's concern about my experience, and his desire to improve in his branch's area of weakness really helped to relieve the frustrations I had held since my last experience. My confidence with Wescom has been restored and I will continue to be a member. I hope that Cecil's warmness and caring nature will trickle down to his staff members. There's no lender with better rates anywhere. Usually almost half of what the big banks charge. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is there's not enough branches. I walked out with 4.53% APR VS Chase @7.73%!! Dylana Brame at the Sherman Oaks office was extremely professional and helpful providing me info and keeping her cool while I surely tested her patience! BEWARE!! STAY AWAY FROM WESCOM!! Want a bank that allows scammers to charge your account and then have that said bank side with the scammers? Then sign up for an account with Wescom. I've been a customer with them since 2009. Never had any issues until I had a scammer incorrectly charge my Wescom credit card while in Mexico this past April. I never signed anything nor provided a PIN number. I also had 3 witnesses to confirm what I was supposed to be charged. I immediately contacted Wescom to report this fraudulent charge and they refused to block it. There was not contact information for the scammer but somehow they claimed to have contacted the scammer to confirm the charge? Yeah, I don't think so. Wescom basically sided with the lies of a foreign scammer over their American customer of over 10 years. I've now had to file a complaint with the California Attorney General's office as well as BBB. My credit is now at risk of being hit with a collections report because Wescom refused to block and remove a fraudulent charge. I have never had any issues with my other credit card companies when I've had fraudulent charges. Even American Express and Bank of America confirmed that they would have blocked and/or reversed the charge. I've never been more disgusted with a company. Wescom HATES their customers and will refuse to help you in any way should a scammer steal money from your account. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! read more

I have been a Wescom member for 4 years and generally like the service. However, the mobile app is LITERALLY USELESS! The Zelle feature doesn't work at all and is a HUGE inconvenience. Every time I go into the Zelle screen, the whole application crashes. I have reinstalled the app many times. I have done a Force Stop in my phone for the app many times. I have called Wescom tech support many times with no results. I'm only told that the issue is with my phone. But that can't be because all other features work just fine. My phone is not that old, it's a Galaxy S20! Clearly, the app is defective, but no one has been able to resolve the issue. I've let this go for a very long time now, and that feature not working is so important to me that it might be the only reason I close my account. read more

Let me start off by saying I have been a Wescom member since the 1990s. I'm not sure what has happened to this institution but customer service has certainly taken a turn for the worse. Recently, my atm credit card number was stolen, wescom sent me a text asking me if I'd made two charges for an amount a little over $200. I immediately responded NO and they froze the card. So far no problem. I called the bank. Let them know what the issue was and they said no problem. We will send out a new card I asked about the $200 charges would they reverse the charges and they said no. They needed to do an investigation and it could take up to 10 days and they needed to give the merchant time to explain why the charges were not legitimate. Are you serious? YOU sent me the text saying they were fraudulent and now you're holding $200 just in case the merchant claims that he had a valid card from some scammer and does not want to pay himself? I have never had this happen in the past, with other institutions /cards, Once they identify it as fraud, they refund the money and investigate later. Basically, Wescom is holding my $200 just in case the merchant says they are legit. I asked what did this had been several thousand dollars. The answer was I would still be out the money and I would have to wait 10 days for the investigation to complete. I'm very concerned now that if I get hit with a large amount someday in the future because someone stole my credit card number from a gas pump or a farmers market, Wescom will not have my back. Very disappointed, as sad as it is I may have to look at other banking options this type of risk is really unacceptable. read more

The guy that helped me is always friendly as well as this other lady with grey/blond hair and glasses love her!! BUT this older lady with short brown curlyish hair who was there at 145pm oct 6th was soo rude and condescending, not sure how she works with people everyday and also witnessed her being rude to other workers as well. Do not use the Cashiers check system. If anything should happen to the check there is a 3 month hold to replace it. This will destroy your life. If you have to use a cashiers check system, find one that can guarantee the check and replace it in no more than 7 days. Wescom is not prepared for 2023. read more

I've been a longtime customer of theirs and I must say it doesn't matter how long you've been a customer. They treat you like %*#+ no matter what. I recently had to go to the Sherman oaks branch twice and their customer service is horrible. Without going into detail, I'm glad that I went with Logix credit union. Their customer service is excellent. I'm not used to calling and speaking to a live person without going through an automated system. So this was a pleasant surprise with Logix. Wescom has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and I will be closing all 5, yes, 5 accounts that I've had with them for several. I've been a Wescom credit union member for over 24 years. I've had business accounts, personal accounts and I have completed several loan transactions through them. This week I purchased a car and used wescom to finance the purchase. Dylana made the transaction an absolute breeze. All I did was drop off the contract and she did the rest. Her manager Brenda even personally dropped of the check to the dealer to make sure the transaction was processed in time . No way any other bank would do what this credit union does . Since I've been writing reviews lately and was reminded of this earlier today, I thought I'd voice my opinion here since, nothing was resolved after a bazaar incident. Since I work in the insurance industry, I come to find out that Wescom also offers insurance as any regular indy insurance agency does, offering the same carriers as additional income, which is common among credit unions, some lenders, etc... Its not a bad idea either, accommodating customers who are borrowing for auto or home loans, I totally get it and thats great. However, Wescom, and to management there at this location, I have brought this up to the insurance carrier already, and this is one event that occured to me only... I'd imagine, its happened to other brokers too... One day, at the agency I work for, I get a letter stating that the customer has decided to switch his insurance to another agent? To my surprise and after investigating whom it could be, and why, the customer and I concluded it to be Wescom, unknowingly switching his policy from his actual agent to them? Without the client knowing?!? For some sort of incentive on a possible auto loan refinance that didnt even take place! This my friends is outright bad ethics... and super shady... if any real insurance agent heard about this, they would be livid... and although this isnt a big deal, or may have been a mistake?!? (Doubt it.) The idea that this happened needs addressed... Im still not happy about this because I had to spend time figuring this out and changing it back with the customer and telling the carrier... also, these types of ethics are what has changed a lot of ways insurance carriers operate... as the company that rhymes burglary and starts with an M! Yet again, they have my check and are still harassing me about sending them a check. They refuse to explain why I am not eligible to pay online. My bills constantly come in saying that I need to pay $4 or $8 which is clearly wrong but no one will EVER try to fix this. Every month I just put in what I think it is or sit through there dumb automated phone. I feel like they intentionally make it hard to pay for your loan so they can charge you more. read more

Wescom Credit Union has an average wait time of 25 - 35 minutes on their customer service line. If you love to wait on hold to inform a Credit Union of numerous bugs their mobile deposit app has that prevent you from pushing funds into your account, then this Credit Union might be for you! It is beyond disappointing to attempt calls on numerous occasions only to sit in an endless cycle of repeated hold messaging without an opportunity to be served after :30+. Wescom needs to add service team members or they will be losing valuable customers. Be aware if you are considering joining this CU that phone service is a HUGE issue. read more

I got an auto loan, approved by Wescom back in July at a 6.55 interest rate with a score of 620 (fair) without an income verification, obviously to their benefit with such high interest, why complicate things, I was immediately approved. Since then, my score has dramatically increased 120 points (excellent at 740 with Experian) I decided to give them my business, I tried to refinance my loan and also applied for a credit card for a balance transfer. They use Experian (1 hard pull) for both. I received a call from Wescom, asking me to verify my income or else it won't be approved or accepted. The rep, explained that not only do I need to show 2 years tax return but pay stubs! I'm sorry, am I applying for a mortgage loan? And, you didn't ask for this when I applied with less money and a low credit score. Seems like Wescom doesn't want me to save money so that I keep paying Wescom, a credit union, high interest! Greedy? Trust me Wescom, there are other lenders who will love to earn my business without hassle. I will wait for their response and give an update after. FYI if you plan on doing a balance transfer with their credit card, they only allow you use half. They do not offer 0 interest for first year either. Other lenders do, like US BANK!! read more

I've been with Wescom since 2005. So glad I bank at a credit union. It's been a mostly positive experience, but there are two things I don't like: . You would think after going to the same branch for 12 years that I would not be greeted or treated like a just another account number. I've seen other customers receive a warmer welcome and get addressed by name. I'm honestly bothered by this considering the amount of business i do (I even bought a car through their affiliate, AutoLand, and have since paid it off). Everyone is generally friendly (with the exception of a couple of the tellers that act like they couldn't be bothered with your transaction). I rarely go to the Van Nuys location, but when I do, I'm recognized by several of the tellers there and that feels nicer than just walking in and given a cordial greeting because they have to at my regular branch. . I don't like the new open set up that the Culver City branch has now. I'm not usually the 'traditional' type, but I prefer the older 'bank-like' set up. There's something that feels more safe about the traditional set-up. I have no plans to change my banking habits any time soon, but it WOULD be nice to get a 'how you doin?" instead of a "how are you today?" read more

Wow, I never have problems at Wescom Credit Unions except the branch in Van Nuys, CA. They simply don't keep good records or they don't know how to read their own computer screens! I have been a member of Wescom for several years as I believe in the mission of credit unions. I also have an account with one of the large banks and I never closed it because Wescom cannot deliver most conveniences that come with the large retail banks. Today I called as I couldn't remember my savings account number. I was on hold 41 minutes! I tried accessing the "new" website and as I tried to reset the password, it asks my account number, which I couldnt remember. No other options allowed or given, even though I have an ATM card, which I could have entered. So frustrated that when someone finally answered, I just told her to close my account, and of course, consistent with being a lame organization, then only way you can close your account is to download and print a PDF, sign it and mail it back.. Like we did in 1999! These people might still be trying to figure out what to do with Y2K. No thanks! I want and deserve better. read more

To sum it up in a single sentence, I can tell you that Wescom has given me nothing but problems. It's pretty damn rare that a business makes me angry enough to rant about it on yelp, so I hope y'all enjoy this one! I decided to start using a Wescom checking account after getting sick of Bank of America's outrageous $35 overdraft fees & issues keeping my debit card number secure. I figured since everyone seems to like credit unions I might as well try it, right? It was worth a try, but as a whole, it's been a total failure. I should have known when the guy who set my account up miskeyed my address TWICE, requiring me to spend weeks following up on where exactly my new checks & debit card were. I should have stopped then, but I wanted to give Wescom the benefit of the doubt... Let me explain a little more about myself as a banking customer, because I believe other people might need something different from their bank than what I do. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like talking to an automated system OR a teller. I like to get all of my banking information in the form of daily balance alerts & online banking. I'm an electronic transfer, direct deposit, auto bill pay kind of person. In other words, I'm not a fan of paper. Wescom's technology bites the big one. Their alert system is completely useless. They can send you an email every time a transaction goes through, or when you hit a preset low balance threshold, but they can't simply send you a daily balance. You can only go overdrawn in very particular circumstances, for example, if you spend every penny in your checking account in a wild spending spree, as a felon would if he stole your identity. However, if you have $1066 in your account and you write a rent check for $1100, that shizz will bounce like a pimped out Impala. then you'll pay returned check fees. At your own bank, and your landlord's bank. A$$holes. Oh, and if you drop a check for $777 in your account and you don't endorse the back, they'll withdraw the $777 and SNAIL MAIL that check back to you for you to sign. Because your secret PIN number wasn't a better indicator of you depositing that check than some scribble that ANYONE with a PEN could have SCRIBBLED on the back. And then, in 5-7 business days, you can take that $777 check back to a bank that would like you to have money and be able to pay your rent on time. Like Wells Fargo. Or Citibank. Or Chase. read more

I came into this location 1 week before Christmas. I asked for change my small business. I asked for NO MONEY from any acct just change! The clerk ask if I have an acct there. Don't understand why that was necessary but ok. I help my mother with her banking here so I used her account. After finding they were unable to help me with change with cash I had with me, I left. The next day my mother attempts to continue Christmas preparation only to find her account is blocked. I bank for my mother because she has had 2 surgeries in the last year and is currently immune compromised. We are cautious because of COVID. My mother calls FOUR times and they continuously say she has to come in because of the notes the clerk left. After I left the bank the woman LIED so many venomous, evil and fictitious lies for no reason whatsoever. I had to pick my mother up who was on bedrest and drive her an hour and a half to the closest branch because she currently does not live near one. When covid cases are highest this woman almost ruined my mothers' and siblings Christmas. A week after that social services calls and says the clerk advised them she is being financially abused. Based on what evidence??? This woman is a LIAR AND IS TERRIBLE AT HER JOB. I gave her no reasons whatsoever for doing this except for the fact that I am black in a neighborhood where ppl don't often look like me. This branch needs to do some sort of warning signs and sensitivity training. My mother was not only subjected to the possibilities of Covid exposure but this girl almost ruined Christmas for no reason at all. When we got to the branch to unblock her account it took less than to minutes and the manager there made it clear this was all the girls fault from my previous experience. read more

Been a member for a year, needed to borrow $10K to replace my windows in my house. My FICO is 698, however I have to many open accounts with a zero balance which according to their underwriting department is a risk that would much rather not take. However, they did say we could do a home equity line at a much higher rate. I closed all my accounts and went to an CU and got the loan I needed at 6.5% rather than 7.9% It's nice to know their are out CU out there that care about you and not your stupid score or all the availability of credit you have which is to much of a risk for Wescom. The Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys branch has horrible customer service. I've banked with Wescom for over 15 years and every time I step into this particular location I get treated so poorly. The tellers are so miserable and anything you ask them to do is a nuisance. I have yet to have one pleasant experience there. The manager, Luis, is no help and even less friendly than the tellers. Ive been with Wescom for almost 10 years and have always had a good experience. I took out a car loan with them and a personal loan after that. Better APR than Chase and better hours and locations than the credit union my Guild offers! Their online banking is easy and the mobile app for my phone is pretty cool too. Bad bad bad is all I can say a waste of time. All I wanted was a simple loan for 15k to buyout my lease credit was 752 after the hard pull dropped to 730 income for the last 6 yrs over 100k book on the car is good. Yet the dumb Loan guy said I haven't been at my current employer for enough time yet still in the same line of work and my first month I made 11k....HELLO we have been in and still are in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC people were on disemployment yet I'm back to work never stoped paying my bills. We have been with Wescom Credit Union since the early 70's. back then it was called "The Telephone Credit Union". I cannot thank this institution enough. From the tellers to the personal advisors we have always felt important. By the way, they all shuffle around to help each other out. I feel secure knowing and trusting Wescom with not only my personal account but with my business account. I now have family members as members and they are just as satisfied.... Excellent member service. Everyone know you by name. The rates are great. Their service is prompt and friendly. They offer free coin service. It's a full service branch, meaning you can apply for and process any loans including home loans, offer home and auto insurance, investments, notary, debt card replacement, etc. I think they're the best. read more

Don't waits your time on try to get them to help you I actually thinking of closing my account and taking my business somewhere else.
