I write very few reviews but this bank is just so special I feel that I must. A few years ago a friend took me to the Encino branch of Umpqua Business Bank. Upon entering I was immediately struck with the feeling that this was going to be a very interesting experience. When you enter you are faced with two large desks/tables with chairs. Behind the table you will almost always find Travis "sitting " comfortably and ready to help with whatever your business is. Blanca, off to the side, is seated at another desk. We, the customers are welcome to walk around behind Travis, even past Blanca to Jerry's office or all the way in the back to Gary's office. Gary is the manager of this wonderful branch and the leader of this incredible and warm and welcoming team of professionals. At some point you realize that there are no bullet proof walls. You dont have to stand and push or pull currency through a depression in the counter under a plexiglass barrier. These people either really like their jobs and helping others or they're the best actors I've encountered. And this is Los Angeles. When you go to this branch, whether for the first time or the 10,000th just be prepared to take a trip back in time to, "Little Town USA". Instead of layers of barriers between you and the staff you will be so warmly greeted - by name - that you'll be tempted to hang out even after you've finished your coffee and banking. read more

I opened a business account. They put their deposit stamp on the back of a Federal check that was deposited to open the account. Later, I get a call that they refused to open the account. When I asked why, the refused to give me a reason. How can they open an account, accept a check, stamp the check and then refuse to give me a reason? Why is it secret? read more

This upgrade in rating is for their headquarters customer service, not the Encino location. The headquarters took care of everything without me having to go into the Encino branch again. It has been smooth sailing for 18 months. So Umpqua overall is a good bank with helpful customer service. I just would never go to the Encino branch again based on my last experience. read more

very disappointed as umpqua takes 5-7 business days to send you a replacement debit card vs overnight from the other banks, if your on vacation it'll be a week till you get a replacement card, not customer friendly as every other bank, overnights lost or stolen cards. Just fyi read more

What a pleasant surprise to find a bank with such a high level of customer service. Gary and his team have provided excellent service and truly have made my wife and I feel welcomed. They have spoiled us with high level of care and attention. Since meeting the team and learning more about Umpqua, we have decided to terminate our 20 year relationship with another bank we have been with. Keep up the good work guys. read more

Great customer service!! The branch manager Anna was helpful and very informative! Thank you for all your help.

I've often thought that the best bank is worse than an average credit union, Umpqua claims to be the world's best bank. They might be, but that still means that they have ATM exclusivity (not mentioned anywhere in their publicity materials), no overdraft forgiveness, and inability to work with outside products like PayPal or fresh books, and a bizarre online system that sometimes let me into my account and sometimes doesn't with no changes of input. Long hold times and strange phone closures that aren't closures, and a hold mind that's bragging about how good the bank as while you wait for 12+ minutes to talk to a human being. They may be the world's best bank but that's hardly a compliment. read more

I don't know about the bank but based on their credit card processing I wouldn't go near them. I cancelled months ago in writing, several different ways and cannot get them to stop billing me. Horrible dishonest company. read more

I cannot say enough about the stellar, personal and attentive service I received from my personal banker, Travis, at the Encino branch. He was always ready to help, answered all of my questions quickly and had such a lovely attitude. Thanks Travis, you're the best! read more

The sign above the counter should read "just another bank".... As a long time Umpqua customer (until now) I've seen and been accustomed to the great service this bank normally provides. If driving back and forth to La Mesa was an option I would continue banking with Umpqua. But with this being the only option I'm out. If I make a deposit in excess of $100,000.00 I expect you to hold some funds. But if you can't make any of it available then I will not bank with you. 'because it's a large amount' is not a good excuse. read more

Got approved for my business account and personal! So grateful. S/o to Blanca and the Umpqua employees for the help.

I would like to take a moment and acknowledge the AMAZING service we received at Umpqua! Gary K. and Jerry P. Are the best! We were looking to get a HELOC and had gone to a bigger bank and when they were taking forever to get us funded(21 plus days) we were referred to Gary K. Gary and Jerry were able to process our HELOC application in one day and fully fund us in 3 business days!! They rock! Plus their level of customer service is so personal and genuine it takes you back to a time when people built relationships based on knowing you and not treating you like a number. I closed my other bank accounts and now have everything with Umpqua!! I encourage you to go meet them!! You will not be disappointed!! They have a customer for life! read more

Umpqua Bank began as a community-based bank in Oregon. it is my bank of chioce because their company culture, policies, and ethics. The Encino branch continues Umpqua's tradition of kindness and professionalism. It is wonderful to see that, as they have grown, they have retained that committment to service and excellence. Overall, I've had a fantastic banking experience here so far - thank you, Jerry! read more

I needed a home line of equity loan and first went to Chase which came to a problem, I found Umpqua bank thru a friend and within in a matter of two days my loan was approved, they did a desktop appraisal and was signing loan docs in within two weeks. There were no additional conditions or anything, it was a slam dunk loan and my loan agent Jerry Papazyan was extremely easy to work with, very comfortable in talking with him and he was very patient with me in walking me thru their website on how to use all my banking needs thru there. I would highly recommend using Umpqua Bank and I am a retired Sr. Loan Process of 30 years. read more

This is the friendliest bank I have ever been to, what a great experience. They were thorough, fast, but still patient and willing to listen to my needs. I highly recommend this bank. Gary, who is the manager I believe, couldn't of been nicer. This is the bank you want! read more

It's very rare that one can say that any bank stands out in terms of its customer service, but this bank truly does.

I feel like I was in a dream when I went into this branch to open a new account. I have been looking for a smaller, more community based bank for a while now. And boy did I find it!! If there were 100 stars I would give it to this bank and these folks! And I would give it to the people at Umpqua phone customer service as well. I had almost forgotten that you can actually have a HUMAN experience at a bank! I felt like we were all friends in the branch. We laughed and chatted about life as they helped me finalize the opening of my new account. Gary, the Manager, even brought me over some coffee to take home. Gary, Bianca, Jerry and Travis made me feel exceptionally comfortable and safe and showed me the ropes about online banking with them and using the mobile app. I live across town but would not hesitate for a second to drive over and stop in the branch to see the staff. My grandmother worked at her local bank when I was growing up. In a tiny town of 800 people in Kansas. I had a similar small town feeling (where everybody knows your name) with this Umpqua branch that I thought was gone forever. I cannot say enough good things about my experience! And I HIGHLY recommend them for your financial needs. Umpqua and this team are the best of the best! read more

I have been with Umpqua Bank for about 6 months now. I joined because another Doctor that I work with had refferred me to the bank. He had mentioned that they had great customer service and that is what I was looking for. After opening my account with them I was so impressed by the care and concern that they all show for me. Even when their office is busy they pick up the phone for any question, and you are treated like you are their only customer. I get direct access to my bankers whenever I have a question and they respond immediately and they are excellent with follow up. Gary and Jerry and the rest of the leadership at the bank are just phenomenal people, honest and caring. In a world where banking customers feel small and unnoticed, Umpqua Bank makes you feel valued and cared for all your banking needs. 10 stars if I could! read more

Gary and Jerry have been my family bankers for the past 20+ years. They deeply look into our banking needs before they recommend solutions. The level of services they provide is superb. The atmosphere at their branch has a "friends & family" tone which is significantly different than most other banks. It is a pleasure to do business with Gary & Jerry and Umpqua bank. read more

This bank is what all other banks should strive to be like. They deliver personal efficient customer service. They always greet me when I enter the branch and make me feel like I am their only customer. The branch manager and his staff are the best I have ever worked with. read more

If you are looking for a small regional bank this is the place to go. Gary and his entire staff cannot be more helpful and go out of their way to make you feel like an appreciated customer. Forget the big institutions this is a place that is more competitive on the products they offer and the process of doing business with them is easier. It's a pleasure to be a customer of theirs and I look forward to many years of our relationship. read more

I would never bank anywhere else! The products are great, but it is the team that makes Umpqua Bank Encino exceptional. They are real professionals, knowledgeable, experienced and hardworking, extremely patient and truly dedicated to providing the best personalized customer service to their clients. And they are the nicest people, all of them - Gary, Jerry, Blanca, Eva and Travis. No wonder they got the Best Store in 2014 reward, they deserve it! I highly recommend this bank both for business and personal accounts, as well as loans. They are just wonderful! read more

Gary and his whole team at Umpqua Encino are the best. They give each client very personal service.
