I have been wanting to get laser hair removal for years but have been scared of the risks of laser…read morehair removal as a black woman. Dark hair on dark skin is the hardest combination for this, most lasers have been designed for light skin and dark hair. For me it was important to find someone that not only had the right laser (Nd:YAG 1064nm) for my skin tone, but also someone who had experience treating someone that looks like me. I felt confident enough after my consultation with Dr. Graber to make my first appointment for laser hair removal. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 starts is because it is impossible to get someone on the phone to answer questions. I understand that they are extremely busy, but I had to call 5 times between Friday and Monday to finally get a response while I was in the car on my way to my appointment which was frustrating and scary before my first laser removal appointment. I ended up getting there early so that I had time to ask all my questions. Though I did feel a little rushed at first, when a said I had a couple questions they immediately got the doctor so I could speak to her before we proceeded. After that I felt relieved and much more comfortable proceeding with the laser treatment. In hindsight, I think this is so routine to the nurses and doctors that work there they probably thought I was a repeat patient and didn't anticipate me having questions. But as soon as I spoke up they were much more attentive and explained everything that they were doing along the way. I left feeling good about my overall experience and I think my next visit will be a better one now that I know what to expect. I've only just started laser hair removal treatment so I can't say yet how well it has worked but I have no negative side effects and have been able to go about my life normally after the first treatment.

The only difference, we received a prescription for a cream not covered by insurance that cost $900 dollars and we were told it could be expensive. Waist of time! If you are looking for a first time diagnose and treatment this place may be ok but they offered no help and because we didn't see one of the doctors we were given no solution. We went there because the creams and wash weren't working in the first place. If you decide to try this practice don't waste your time with a nurse practitioner. Dr. Young really is excellent. I found out that I had skin cancer a few years ago (at 28), so I see him quite often. I have never felt so comfortable with any doctor, which is important considering you are practically naked when you get skin checks. The staff in the dermatology department are all very nice and helpful. When my biopsy came back positive, he got me in the next morning to have surgery to have the tumor removed. Dr. Young scolds me because I should be getting skin checks more often than my once a year, but its not condescending like it would be with most other doctors. It seems like it is because he really wants you to be healthy and make sure you are OK. He has also helped me with less serious issues and I have always had great results with him. I actually had some strange thing where my capillaries leak which he hasn't seen before. But he did some research on it to try to figure out what/if we needed to do anything. I would suggest him to anyone who needs to see a dermatologist. As I said previously, Dr. Young is excellent! I will continue to see him even when I moved out of Quincy.

I expect a doctor (actually nurse practitioner) to be willing to have a conversation with a patient, answer reasonable questions, and explain their recommendations--not simply dismiss a patient for trying to be informed about their own healthcare. Unfortunately, this office felt more like a patient-processing factory than a professional medical practice focused on individual care.
