Sad to learn the wonderful Dr Cunningham has retired. I went to her for years and was always satisfied.

I have been wanting to get laser hair removal for years but have been scared of the risks of laser…read morehair removal as a black woman. Dark hair on dark skin is the hardest combination for this, most lasers have been designed for light skin and dark hair. For me it was important to find someone that not only had the right laser (Nd:YAG 1064nm) for my skin tone, but also someone who had experience treating someone that looks like me. I felt confident enough after my consultation with Dr. Graber to make my first appointment for laser hair removal. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 starts is because it is impossible to get someone on the phone to answer questions. I understand that they are extremely busy, but I had to call 5 times between Friday and Monday to finally get a response while I was in the car on my way to my appointment which was frustrating and scary before my first laser removal appointment. I ended up getting there early so that I had time to ask all my questions. Though I did feel a little rushed at first, when a said I had a couple questions they immediately got the doctor so I could speak to her before we proceeded. After that I felt relieved and much more comfortable proceeding with the laser treatment. In hindsight, I think this is so routine to the nurses and doctors that work there they probably thought I was a repeat patient and didn't anticipate me having questions. But as soon as I spoke up they were much more attentive and explained everything that they were doing along the way. I left feeling good about my overall experience and I think my next visit will be a better one now that I know what to expect. I've only just started laser hair removal treatment so I can't say yet how well it has worked but I have no negative side effects and have been able to go about my life normally after the first treatment.

I went here for a skin check and was promptly reminded that I would be charged for any questions…read morethey answered not related to a skin check. It felt really discouraging and I felt like I had to watch what I said to avoid paying extra fees. They ended up finding an abnormal mole and significantly downplayed the size of skin they were removing. The stitching job was poor and I now have a giant scar when I thought I was getting a small removal

I had a terrific skin cancer screening at this beautiful dermatology practice. The space was serene…read morebut not pretentious and the front desk person was friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the emails before my appointment to set up a time and the thorough online medical record I could fill out before my actual appointment. They took my insurance AND they had an appointment within 2 weeks with Dr. Doktor, the board certified dermatologist on site. One thing I really hate about going to the dermatologist- I think it's the reason I waited 10 years- is the pressure to do cosmetic treatments. I don't want to be getting some mole biopsied while someone is trying to sell me Botox and basically insulting my face. It's demeaning and crappy. And I can safely say nothing even remotely like that previous experience occurred at the Skin Center. There are some discrete signs in the lobby and exam room for fillers, but aside from asking me if I wanted to talk about my 2 zits (no), I felt no pressure to do anything but get checked over. The doctor was thorough and really nice and yay, no skin cancer! They clearly treat lots of skin conditions in addition to providing fillers, etc, so it seems a good place for all your skin needs with lots of appointment availability. I 100% recommend them for skin cancer screening. Don't forget to wear sunblock.

Unfortunately, my experience throughout the Accutane process at Skincare Physicians has been…read moredisappointing. The biggest issue was the lack of communication. As a first-time Accutane patient, I often felt like it was assumed I already knew how everything worked, and when I didn't, there was very little guidance. The scheduling department was also very rude at times. After hours of trying to get in touch with someone, I was told I couldn't be seen until August and was made to feel like the situation was entirely on me. Only after finally speaking with a nurse was I able to get the help I needed. At my fifth appointment, I was suddenly told my insurance didn't cover out-of-state visits, despite having already been seen there multiple times without anyone ever mentioning this. Had I known that from the beginning, I could have planned accordingly. I take responsibility for anything I may have misunderstood or missed, but I wish the office would also acknowledge that better communication could have prevented a lot of this. I'm only staying to finish my Accutane course, but overall this experience has been emotionally exhausting. Anyone who has struggled with acne knows how difficult that journey can be, and I wish I had felt more supported throughout the process.

I find it interesting that when a patient shows up 5 minutes after the 15 minute-late deadline rule…read morewhich cancels your appointment, it is perfectly alright that you can be left more than 45 minutes waiting to see Dr. Shih when unexpected events pop up on his schedule as had occurred on a previous occasion. Rather disappointing to have driven 45 miles to their office only to be turned away. Prior to showing up for the appointment, I tried to call ahead to alert the front desk that traffic volume was terrible and I would be late. I was left on hold for more than 30 minutes (!) and was still on hold after arriving at the reception desk. Never got through to anyone. Do they not have phones at the reception desk? Does the office not have an email address that patients can use as an alternative means to communicate? During a prior visit, one receptionist had a rather hostile/ angry demeanor. Perhaps she was having a bad week, and to be fair most of the receptionists are pleasant. Nevertheless, patients can and do begin to feel they are simply a number at this office and the practice is more interested in $$$ over accommodating the patient.
