The technician arrived within 1 hour of me calling Wentzel's. That was really great. He was very pleasant and professional. He immediately diagnosed the problem. Then he removed and replaced the capacitor for $295. He was here about 25 mins. Now that I've checked, I found out that I was overcharged. I knew the warrantee was years gone, but I figured I'd call Wentzel's because they installed the system, so I figured they were familiar with my system and might be fair in price. The service was excellent, but I feel the price was not fair. He also gave me the option of replacing the other smaller electrical part, which was working, for only an extra $185, so I would have 2 new parts. It would have been $500 for both items replaced and an extra 10-15 mins of labor. I declined the offer. The parts looked to me like they are about $40-$50 each. I'll have to call a handyman next time. I live and learn. read more

I called about replacing a master bathroom fan and said I would buy the fan before they came out to install. The office told me there was a $150 upfront charge. A few days later, Matt called me and said he was not busy and would like to come to the house and look at the project. I told him that I had not ordered the fan, but if he thought it would help it was OK to come over. I was surprised he needed to review a simple fan installation. When he got to my house he talked me out of replacing the master bath fan. Since he was at my house, I asked him to look at two projects and we discussed installing a fan in guest bathroom. He did my two smaller projects in two hours and said he would be back after lunch to install the guest bathroom fan. I told him I wanted a Panasonic fan because they are very quiet. He called back after 3pm and said he was delayed because he had trouble finding the fan and could not come back for one to two days. That seemed odd since he said he was not busy that day. I told him that I could get the fan, but he said he would find the fan. I called him the next day and again offered to get the fan. He said he had the fan and would come over that afternoon. When he arrived he had a lower quality fan with a high sone (noise) rating. He said he could not find the Panasonic fan. I told him I wanted a quiet fan and not to install the one he brought. The next day, I received an invoice for 3.5 hours of work and an $150 charge for the second day. Total of $690!! I called and they removed the second fee of $150 charge, but Matt was not at my house for 3.5 hours the first day. I now think Matt called because he needed someone to bill and I made the mistake of agreeing. He just wanted to get the job done quickly and did not listen to what I asked for. I ordered my own fan and had it in two days, but I will find still need to find someone else to install the Panasonic. read more

Wentzel's came to service my CA at my home. Andy did a fine job explaining what he did and why. Sadly after paying $295 the system did not cool the house after 24 hours. When I called Wentzels to share my less then satisfactory experience to ask for a reduction in the service charge. I was told the technician did all he could do and did it correctly. I explained 3 times that I under stood this but the system was not working (cooling). I was forced to call AAPAIR Services 942- 312-9938 to fix the system properly. If Wentzels would have given any reduction for the Non Service I would have been happy. To day I am not happy and I am canceling the credit card charge. read more

A satisfied customer for several years a non urgent ac cleaning was scheduled. Technician Mark visited for this routine maintenance cleaning of A/C unit. This old unit was functioning and cooling at acceptable temp to meet tenants needs. Following technician departure , occupant complained that the temperature inside had elevated 10 degrees. . A call to the office requesting the unit be restored to 'as was' caused tech to return to site of service. Tenant stated technician flicked breaker switch outside and departed without communicating or stepping inside of home. At some of the hottest August temps ever in Florida, my tenant turned off the now disfunctional a/c. Of course, a replacement unit was advised by all. Being new to the area, getting reliable, honest and great customer service in Handyman services, mechanic along with Electrical and HVAC is critical. Wentzel came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The first line of defense is their excellent customer service. Super friendly and attentive. Their techs stick as close to the schedule as expected. My wife and I did not feel like they were trying to oversell any product or service. We got our Tesla Wall Charger installed and it came out great. They were done in less time than expected and were very professional and cleaned up any mess made. No issues with my sub panel or the wall charger. We also called them for an issue with our AC and when everyone else said they could not get a tech out for 24 hours or more, Wentzel came that same day. We went ahead and signed up for their maintenance program which is reasonably priced and provides some peace of mind. They were very clear of what it covered and what it did not. No surprises. BUYER BEWARE!! Please notice how many one-star reviews people have posted for this company. An UNUSUALLY HIGH percentage are one-star reviews. And like so many others have said, I'd have given zero stars if I'd been given the opportunity. Wentzel's was great as long as everything worked well and I paid them to come by twice a year to check up on the system they had installed. But as soon as a problem arose, they were horrid. HORRID. First they ordered the wrong part; then they put in the wrong-sized correct part; then they refused to admit that they'd put in the wrong-sized part, which made a lot of noise. It was only because I hired another company to look at the problem that I discovered that the part Wentzels put in was the wrong size (hence the loud noise). The new company also pointed out that the part was still under warranty and I never should have been charged for it in the first place! They fixed my system so that the loud noise stopped. And they suggested that we contact Wentzel's. Which I did. I pointed out that I shouldn't have been charged for a part under warranty, and that they'd put the wrong-sized part into my system. Wentzel's chose not to answer my letters. Shocking behaviour. Truly - shocking! I have now sold my condo and moved. But Wentzel's behaviour continues to dismay and anger me. Today, it is extremely difficult to find a company that does the right thing and really puts the customer first. Well, look no further. Seriously! I selected Wentzel's to replace my original heat pump based upon a strong endorsement from a good friend. I couldn have done better! About 18 months post installation, I experienced a leak in the condenser coils. Wentzel's immediately scheduled and installed a replacement within a day. But, more importantly, they worked closely with the manufacturer to cover any and all costs to save me money. They didn't have to "go to bat" for me....they just did the right thing....something that is missing with most companies. If you are considering a quality company with integrity and a "customer first" attitude, Wentzel's should be top of the list. I will be a customer for life! They really care about the customer! Wentzel's Heating and Air Conditioning, 51 Alafia Drive, Sarasota, FL 34240 A number of months ago Wentzel installed a Bryant heat pump at my Sarasota address, locating the condensate pipe outlet next to the pump. The trickle of water leaving the system pooled and flowed onto an adjacent paved walkway leaving it permanently wet and slippery. This became increasingly hazardous, and my wife and I were concerned about our personal safety. Wentzel's Lisa told me the water should have been directed away from the area. On his arrival, Wentzel's Darren noted that the condensate should not have been set to drip onto packed earth. He then called a colleague to bring him a small bag of stones. Sitting on the back of his truck outside the house, he waited. And waited. Over an hour. Although I never saw any second man, the work was later described as a two-man job. According to Wentzel the second man was "driving around picking up parts." (There were no parts!). 25 minutes later Darren was done. He simply scooped up the earth in and around the small pool of water, and placed the stones around the outlet. Over the following few days, I reported that no water was leaving the pipe. I was told that it would take time to flow. A few more calls, and Wentzel informed me that the water is below the surface and that's acceptable. But isn't that a code violation? Or is the pipe blocked and the water is backing up? Since the original installation was, according to Wentzel's own people, not done properly, I expected Wentzel to make this minor correction at no cost. Despite Wentzel's claim that my wife had agreed to an (unspecified) charge, no new charges were ever discussed or agreed to. "She's a liar!" Wentzel snapped, and billed me for $275. The invoice reads: "Repipe drain line to reroute from pavers. 2.5 Hour Labor." The work described was never done! In response to my frequent calls, I was told that Wentzel was out of town. I then received an email: "Failure to pay the entire balance due (by 5:00 pm today) will void any remaining warranty on your HVAC system.  Also, if the entire balance due is not paid in full, your account will be sent to collections." Is Wentzel hustling two old people (I'm 90 and my wife is 81)? Sad that a local company would do that. read more

As far as "loyal customer" your company came out twice, once in fall 2015 to install new HVAC (which is already on the fritz) & once more to clean air ducts, where they caused $2000 in property damage & your field manager admitted to. American Express refunded me my money. Thankfully. When my new HVAC co came to fix your system, they chuckled about what scam artists wetzels is. I guess it's known in the industry. NEVER USE THEM! For over 2 1/2 years my father has had nothing but SEVERE white powder dust in every room every day after this terrible company replaced his a/c and ran a new duct into the master bedroom. He is too nice of a person and will get the run around Everytime he calls and asks what is the next "plan" to get this corrected...and waits weeks for a return call. And numerous missed visits by the company. They "forgot" to have the county come out and check to sign off on the permit. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! read more

I used Wentzel's for many years for maintenance of our two installed systems and they installed one new system for use. In August of 2022 they recommended and installed a new system. Within 7 months it failed. The system leaked coolant and they couldn't locate the leak. They charged us $200 for the lost coolant and $350 for a dye they used to locate the leak. The technician came back two weeks later to see if the dye showed where the leak was. He found the leak in the coil and said the coil would have to be replaced. He blamed the leak on the fact that the coil is made of aluminum which he claimed is not as reliable as copper. (That would have been useful information to have before buying the system.) The manufacturer replaced the coil and the cost to replace it free of charge. But we were left with the cost of the coolant that was lost while Wentzel's tried to figure out where the leak was. All told, we were billed $825 for lost coolant and the dye pack Wentzel's needed to locate the leak. Since the coolant was leaking very slowly, it's a virtual certainty that the coil was leaking when Wentzel's installed it. It seems grossly unfair to me that we should have to pay for a problem in a new system. It's also disappointing that Wentzel's doesn't tell the manufacturer that he is responsible. Because of this, we no longer use Wentzel's. At this point Wentzel's has cost us $825 that should have been paid by the a/c manufacturer or Wentzel's under the warranty. read more

The electrician was unbelievable. I had someone from Mr. Sparky's and they had no idea how to solve an electrical problem I had. They gave me an estimate of $500 to trouble shoot the problem, and another $2000 to fix the problem. Mike Gallagher, their lead electrician, discovered my problems right away, fixed several problems with faulty wiring from a previous electrician, and my final bill was $350. They did it again! So thankful for Wentzel Heating and Air-conditioning. I have been suffering from allergies and severe asthma since FEBRUARY. I requested a service call to inspect my a/c system, to see if ductwork could be cleaned. They sent Andy out first thing in the morning, he determined that my ductwork in attic was way over 30-35 years old, metal, and with condensation probably contained mold. Shane rearranged schedules and had a crew here first thing Friday morning. These gentlemen were on time, professional, and knowledgeable. They removed, and replaced all ductwork, which was harboring excessive amounts of mold. Every vent was bleached, and scrubbed clean ( also had mold growing on inside of vent, that you can't see until removed). They installed a UV system to kill any further contaminants. Chuck and Dustin were sure to clean up after themselves, and left my home as they found it. The air I am breathing is clean, my wheezing has subsided, had my first good night sleep in months. Andy came back a few days later to check and be sure everything was working as expected. I can't thank all of the persons involved from Wentzel's enough. I was having problems with the heaters not working.m.Since one company was.setting me up for a generator I called them. They came out and found breaker flipped. The electrition told me it was the heater. I called Wentzels. He found the breaker had not only flipped again but had partially burned out. These guys have been great every time I called. read more

Incompetent company. The guy's idea of fixing the air conditioner was banging on it, and then going over to our electrical box and banging on that. He then removed the electrical panel cover and reflipped a breaker that was tripped, and when he put the panel cover back on, he screwed through one of our wires, laughed about it and then left it like that, and apparently rewrote the event in his paperwork to favor himself so he didn't have to take the heat for having done so. I started smelling smoke coming from the box the next day, and noticed the dishwasher wouldn't turn on, and that's when I called an electrician from another company to see what he had done. The electrician showed up and saw that he had screwed through a wire and then left it, and the wire was active and burning the other wires it was touching. This could have ended up in an electrical fire and done a severe amount of damage to not only our entire electrical system, but also quite possibly our home. The electrician was in complete disbelief that he would have left it in this condition, as it is very unsafe. This was pure negligence and dangerous, especially in a house with three children. I will never be using this company again and I would highly recommend you avoid using them, as well. They charged us more to damage our electrical box than the electrician did to fix their mistake. read more

In my opinion, this is the only A/C company that I will work with in Sarasota/Bradenton! A+++ I was petrified to bring an A/C service person to my house. Each time I thought I found an air conditioning company I could trust, up came horror stories or rip-off/scam reviews online. A few wanted to send someone first to "inspect" my home before sending a tech to do my annual maintenance. HUH? Friends also shared horror stories. I had all but given up and felt my father-in-law and I would always be servicing my A/C units until the end of time (more him than me). However, I have to fear no more! Wentzel's was great. Tanya worked around my dynamic schedule. Tim showed up early and was friendly, professional and "real." He got right to work, but took the time to literally explain each task he did while I followed him. Genuine, sincere, hardworking and honest. Left every area he worked in cleaner than he found it. Though I rarely write reviews online, there was no way I could let another "me" sit out there, searching in frustration, trying to find an A/C company they could trust. ***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE ARROGANT AND DECEIVING *** My home A/C unit stop cooling on Saturday May 30th. I called Wentzel's as I bought a brand new A/C unit from them about 1 year ago. I spoke with Lisa over the phone and she mentioned to me that there was going to be no service call charge and there would be a charge if the issue was a maintenance related problem. Lisa also mentioned me that the technician would assess the problem and before fixing it, he would talk to me and explain what needed to be done, pricing, etc. When the technician from Wentzel's arrived he looked at the problem and fixed it in 20 minutes. The bill was $210.00 ($115.00 from flushing the drain line, and $95 service call). I was really upset that he charged me so much for such a simple fix, AND that he also charged me the service call fee. He never explained to me the problem and how much it would cost, before he fixed the issue. I would have done the fix myself, and paid the $95 service call fee. I spoke with the different people over the phone, including the office manager (Cindy Truett) and they refused to remove the service charge. Cindy was very arrogant and said that Lisa explained everything in detail multiple times, which is not true. I have a doctorate degree so I consider myself having at least average comprehensive skills to understand Lisa, especially is she was so detailed and explained so many times. Clearly, this was not the case. Cindy (office manager) was unapologetic and said that their offer was final (a very small discount), and if I did not pay this, it would go to the collectors office, basically threatening me. This way of doing business is upsetting, especially since I bought a brand new unit from them last year. I feel I was taken advantage of, and the technician never spoke to me about the problem and costs. He rather fixed the problem right away so he can charge me whatever he wanted. The best! I live in Chicago, my mom lives in Bradenton. Shes was having problems with her heat. She went to the phonebook and under A found a company who would be affordable. They wanted to charge her $3000.00 for 2 parts. I wouldn't fall for it. I found Wentzel on Google with a 4.9 rating. When I called them, Tonya that answered the phone couldn't have been nicer. She had me talk to Ted the owner. He had a tech out the next day for a simple $80.00 repair. I can't tell you how much I love this company. They are family owned and as honest as you can find. Can't ask for better customer service and top-notch, professional electricians. Hired Wentzel to replace a chandelier in the dining room with recessed lighting as well as swap out a ceiling fan in the living room. Everything was done to perfection with minimal mess. Their two electricians really took pains to ensure the new lighting was installed in the most attractive spot and the new fan looks and works great. They were also very patient in ensuring my VERY heaving dining room table (glass + base) was positioned perfectly. Thank you all (Jana included) for making this a very pleasant experience. What's more, their pricing is pretty fair. Wentzel's has been saved to my Contacts. BTW - I see they also do HVAC work and will be sure to consider them if in need. read more

If you need an electrician, give these folks a call. Ask to speak with Bill Lounsberry. He's a straight up, straight shooting guy. My water heater wasn't heating. I thought it might be a breaker problem and Bill confirmed it. He came out, spent an hour, replaced the large breaker and the cost was under $125. You certainly can't beat that. I called around 8 AM and Bill arrived at 10 AM. Anytime I need any electrical work done again, these are the people I'll call..... sure as hell won't "call Sparky". Called at 8 am on a Monday due to a fan blower motor not working on a 9 year old unit. Was told tech would call later and would call 30 minutes before arriving at my home so I could leave work and meet the tech. Received a call at 3 from the tech, he was at my house... never received a call. He said he would have to go to his next stop and would be back in an hour to 2 hours. I left work and came home, waited until 5:45 and no tech called multiple times and never received a call back. Finally showed up at 6 pm. Quoted me $630.00 for a universal blower motor... $275 for labor and $350 for fan motor. Fan motor is $130.00 with cap and tech was at home for 1 hour. Had no choice but to pay since no one would come at 6:30. Had them do the same thin on my downstairs unit 35 months ago and the cost was $450??? Would not recommend or use this company in the future. read more

Another great job by Wentzels. They not only do AC we had them do insulation in our attic and it made such a huge difference!! Our AC couldn't keep up so we called and determined there was no insulation over our kitchen after a remodeling job was completed. Never would have known that - kept thinking it was an AC issue. This company is the WORST - have had a twice annual prepaid service contract required by landlord. First they failed to notify us at renewal time (every year), then they only do 1 of the 2 required annual services which violated the terms of my lease. The system breaks down and landlord asks for copy of required service reports and guess what there is no 2nd service for the year. They come out and fix breakdown and then bill me at higher rate as contract had expired (never notified us). Then when I call they say contract hasn't expired because they didn't do 2nd service. This is just the worst run operation -happy to take your money but then they just disappear and respond that it is my responsibility to have them come out and do the services. Too many legitimate AC companies out there to pick from so pick someone else. read more

I had and issue with my air condition unit and they sent someone out and charged me for 2 hours when he only worked 1 hour, told me it was 85 an hour but charged 95 an hour. Also i had my transformer changed and they charged me double the price for the part and charged me for 2 pounds of freon when only 1 pound was put in ! ! ! So i was basically charged $170 TOO MUCH !!! When i decided to call the office and talk to the manager about this, it had taken them 3 days to call me back and trust me i was calling everyday so finally on the 3rd day i had talked to a manager, and basically told me i was charged what i was charged and couldn't do anything about it when i had proof of all the allegations. If you need a new air conditioner, don't use these folks. They do not stand behind their installations. Their service staff is incompetent and once they get your money, they don't know you. They can only handle very minor maintenance types of work, like refilling freon or changing the air filter. Anything more, they just don't have the proper training or customer service skills. Do yourself a favor and use another company. It will save you a bunch of headaches and prevent you from sitting in your house with no air or heat for days on end. Highly recommend! Our AC broke down on Labor Day weekend and we called several places, many wanted extra money for the service call being on the weekend, and a holiday weekend at that! We ended up using Wentzel's and they came out within 2 hrs and spent a good 4 hours here and replaced the capacitor. Total price for that was approx what one company, that is 2 minutes from my house (!), wanted to charge just to drive out here! Turns out we still need a new motor (for the air handler) and due to the holiday won't have that until Tuesday. The service guy was very honest and didn't try to sell us a whole new system. Our AC unit is 20 yrs old but was built in the US and they "don't make them like they used to." He's going to replace our made in USA motor so we will continue to have a solid unit! He drove out to look for parts and to his shop twice yet didn't charge us extra for this. Great company and I would highly recommend! read more
