I'm very disappointed with my experience at Diamond Mills. I…read morewas a paying hotel guest when I attempted to enter the bar with my trained service dog. Before we were even seated, the hostess told me my dog was not permitted. I explained that she was my service dog, pointed out her vest, and even offered documentation. Despite this, I was still denied access and was told, essentially, "You can sit outside if you'd like." My service dog is not a pet. She is a trained service animal who accompanies me because of my disability and allows me to safely and independently participate in everyday activities. Being treated as though I was asking for special treatment was incredibly upsetting and humiliating. Management did contact me that evening, which I appreciated, and I was told the situation would be addressed. Unfortunately, despite my follow-up, I have received no response or update from management. I returned to the bar Saturday evening and was so uncomfortable after the original interaction that I felt I needed my mother to accompany me for support. Seeing the same hostess still working was particularly upsetting and left me feeling that my concerns had not been taken seriously. This experience was not just disappointing--it made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable at a hotel where I was a paying guest. I sincerely hope Diamond Mills uses this as an opportunity to properly educate its staff about service animals and accessibility so that another guest does not have to go through the same experience. The lack of follow-up from management has been just as disappointing as the original incident. UPDATE TO MY DIAMOND MILLS REVIEW After three attempts to address this situation, the owner of Diamond Mills finally reached out to me. During our conversation, he stated that his witnesses had a different account of what occurred. However, there were four people at the bar who were observing and commenting on my service dog and her behavior. I believe this raises serious concerns about how I and my service dog were treated. The owner also indicated that my dog was not permitted because she was supposedly a "big dog on a long leash." For the record, my service dog weighs approximately 40 pounds and was on a regular leash. The characterization of her size and leash was inaccurate. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions or perceptions about her size, she is a service dog who accompanies me for medical reasons. She was under my full control, and I am confident that the appropriate surveillance footage will help establish what actually occurred. What concerns me most is not simply a disagreement over competing accounts. It is the way this situation was handled and the treatment of a person relying on a service dog for medical reasons. I believe these concerns deserve to be taken seriously, addressed appropriately, and reviewed based on the available evidence rather than assumptions or conflicting recollections. My advice to others is to be aware of these concerns before choosing to visit Diamond Mills, particularly if you rely on a service animal and expect to be treated with dignity and respect. I am now moving forward with the appropriate steps to protect my rights, seek accountability, and help prevent others from potentially experiencing a similar situation. I will not allow this matter to be dismissed without making a reasonable effort to have the facts reviewed and addressed. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and respectfully. I hope Diamond Mills takes this situation seriously and uses it as an opportunity to examine its practices and ensure that others do not have to go through a similar experience.

I remember finding this place online and being happy that I could save a few bucks, and still be close to Woodstock, and yet... they had this giganto-enormous bath tub that my wife and kid would love. The owners are nice, and I feel this is sort of a side gig for them. It feels kind of like a VRBO in that you don't need to see people at a reception desk every time you return to the Inn... you just park in the quiet parking lot out back, and do your thing. We had room # 3 on both visits, so that's really all I can speak to. The owners are responsive to emails, and kindly stock the mini-refrigerator with Poland Spring water. It has a kitchenette along with a little living area (including a sleeper sofa), and then a private bedroom along with the massive bathroom. I think my favorite part is the bathroom. Too bad you can't sleep in there. At least, that wouldn't be safe! We share the King bed, me, my wife, and daughter. It's not very comfortable, so I didn't sleep well. I requested a strong a/c, and I think we got that, though it's cold outside still, and the place isn't very energy efficient. There's actually a little balcony door along the side wall, and you can see the wind outside blowing the curtains sometimes. I don't think the place is thoroughly cleaned, but the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are definitely clean enough. We didn't feel uncomfortable. What's nice about this place though is the location. You're right in the heart of the village of Saugerties with the coolest shops and best restaurants around right here.

You can also pay to upgrade to say an Intercontinental but I digress. My voucher was expiring and I've been wanting to go to a nearby adult/child tennis camp. So I booked one night using my voucher and upgraded to a King using my platinum status, another IHG credit card perk. The hotel lobby is clean and the entire hotel was recently renovated. The room was clean, uncluttered and renovated. The pool, (4) on the small side, is open from 9 am to 9 pm max depth is 4'1" with a machine for individuals using a wheelchair. I swam a few laps and would try again in the morning after it has been cleaned. They offer free parking, free breakfast and coin operated guest laundry. They had egg omelettes, pork sausage, home fried potatoes, breads, yogurt, cereal and hot coffee/tea. The food was a 3.5 and the coffee, a medium blend (extra points for oat milk!) was very good, a 4. I opted for IHG points as my Platinum member amenity, the other choice being bottled water. All in all, a good stay. I'll stay on site at the tennis camp next time but would also consider staying here and driving over for my tennis lessons especially in Winter when hotel prices drop. Added bonus: the Trailways bus to Port Authority is less than a ten minute walk to/from the hotel.

In order to get power to the lights in the room, you must insert a key card into a wall mounted slot (identical to the European setups). Luckily, I travel a lot for business an always have spare key cards with me so I didn't have to leave my room key inserted. If you are working at the desk for longer than about 10 minutes, the AC turns off completely. There is a motion sensor on the thermostat that will cut power to the AC unit, including the blower, even if the room temperature has not reached the set temperature. This made sleeping in a cool room challenging. the younger gentleman that worked nights is lazy. He expected the women to do all the work. On Monday morning, breakfast was not ready by 6:20am, and I asked when he was going to open up so we could eat. He said the morning worker was late and that she would be in to set everything up. What? Didn't you just work overnight? You can't help out your fellow coworkers to make sure the hotel guests are able to get breakfast? The rest of the stay was uneventful, but I won't stay at this place in the future.

I kicked and scream...(well no...not really) because as much as I enjoy walking in the woods, I…read moredon't like sleeping in it. My time came to rough it in the woods because I don't do camping. Dominicans don't do camping. Period! But hubby's a Nuyorican and he loves all this stuff. In a Yurt? Well...That's the question I got when I told folks where I was staying for the weekend. But...it's a give and take and all in the name of love. Right? Caryn & Mark own Awakening Garden grounds. There's a Yurt, 2 Cabins, a Tepee and a Buddha Hut to choose from. (Call or check website for prices). Pitching a tent was definitely out of the question. Now you're asking......what the heck is a Yurt? Well Google says its a, "circular tent"- and that's precisely what it is- but bigger. Our Yurt, has no bathroom- but the 'Bathhouse' is literally 5 steps away (and no...it's not a latrine- by the way). It doubles (or triples) as a small kitchenette with a small fridge, sink and 2-burner hot plate, a full bathroom with a shower, 'Dining Area' and a gorgeous carpeted nook if you want to do Yoga (perfect). Yurt rental for us (at this time of year was $370 ($135 for each of the first two nights and $100 for the third night) plus $30 cleaning fee. It's super comfortable with a Queen-size bed, but there's extra room within the Yurt that could easily sleep at least 2 more people (please double check with the owners first for a payment scale and/or if more people are allowed before you bring your posse). Coming at this time in the Fall was perfect and we didn't need to worry about freezing up here. The Yurt has 2 portable heaters and kept us super toasty for this time of the year. Plus there's a potbelly stove as an added measure. Additionally, there's a baseboard heater in the "Bathhouse". Don't want to pitch a tent? Or do the Hut or cabin stay? But you still want to get that outdoorsy, woodsy feel? Then staying in a Yurt is your best bet to give you a bit of both worlds. Oh by the way...it's just you and Nature at it's finest because there's no TV. And WiFi? If you're lucky- because it comes and goes! Didn't realize how much more I'd appreciate Nature and sleeping in a Yurt made me feel like I was right in the thick of it- which we were. This is totally off the spectrum for me compared to my new fave and up-to-trend hotel- The Emerson- but we wanted to switch things up. I'm really not taking points off because there isn't a TV. Or because we had to walk 5 little steps out of our Yurt and into a Bathhouse. Or because there wasn't a thermostat to regulate the heater. All I kept saying to myself was- 'things could be a lot f*cking worse in the woods'. This Yurt is up to standards and met me in many ways for it being in the woods. 4+1/2! Both Caryn and Mark run Awakening Garden very nicely. It's truly Zen here.
