Ted's Hot Dogs

Ted's Hot Dogs

Legendary…read morechargrilled foot long hot dogs, their extraordinary onion rings and fabulous milkshakes allow you to taste Summer all year long! Great service in their spotless restaurants. Friendly atmosphere is part of its charm.

When it's 52° in the middle of a Buffalo winter and the grill is calling, there's no better place…read moreto answer it than Ted's Hot Dogs. Stepping inside feels like walking into a backyard cookout that never closes -- the air thick with charcoal smoke, the sizzle of franks hitting the grate, and that unmistakable smell of a hot dog done right. The Hot Dog: Charcoal & SnapThe star here is the classic well‑done hot dog, a natural‑casing Sahlen's frank grilled over charcoal until the skin is taut and crackling. Bite into it and you get that perfect, satisfying snap -- the kind that tells you it's been treated like real grilled meat, not just warmed through. The smoky char from the grill gives it a deep, savory flavor that's pure Western New York comfort, especially on a chilly day when you need something hearty and familiar. Fries & Onion Rings: The Perfect SidekickPair that dog with the fries and onion rings, and it's a match made in Buffalo fast‑food heaven. The fries are crisp, golden, and seasoned just right -- never greasy, always hot. The onion rings are Ted's signature: homemade, lightly battered, and deep‑fried into those tangled, golden webs of sweet onion and crisp coating. Order the "split" (half fries, half rings) and you've got the ideal combo: salty, crunchy, and just messy enough to feel like a real cookout. What really makes Ted's special is how it fits into the neighborhood -- a reliable, no‑frills spot where the food is cooked in front of you, the staff knows the regulars, and the vibe is pure Buffalo. On a day when winter's still hanging on but the air hints at spring, grabbing a well‑done dog and a basket of fries at Ted's is the closest thing to outdoor grilling without even stepping outside. It's not fancy, but it's honest, satisfying, and exactly the kind of place you're glad still exists in the area.

I am a big fan of hot chicken. Whether it's actually in Nashville or anywhere in Buffalo, I always…read morehave to give it a try. My wife had never tried Dave's before so we were running errands and decided to stop in. We ordered it for pick up because of the snow storm and the amount of snow in the parking lot was our sign to take it home. We walked in and this location is huge. It is a really nice location inside and I like how they have a tv screen that tracks your order for you so you know when it's ready. So cool. Our order was being packed up as I walked in so perfect timing. The food itself was great! I ended up going with one medium and one hot. There is definitely a jump up in spiciness between the two levels and they are very flavorful with the spice, not just a blind heat. These sliders are HUGE. They really fill you up and the fries are perfect. Love the seasoning and the crinkle cut. We will definitely be back for more and this is a great place when you're looking for that hot chicken fix.

The chicken itself is outstanding, and the French fries are also really good. I found the service a bit lacking, thus only three stars. It was not crowded. I walked in and there was one group eating and one person waiting for food. The person who took my order was friendly and helpful. However, I placed my order, paid and was given my receipt and a "buzzer" and I waited. The thing that irked me is that I saw my order come from the kitchen, handed from a cook to an employee on the other side of the window, who kept talking and talking and talking to the cook while my food was sitting there. All she needed to do was put the order into the plastic bag, but for about five minutes talked to the cook and kept her back to the customer area, as did the other employees. I saw other employees walking around, there were more staff than customers, but I don't know what they were accomplishing. But my order still waited as they all talked. She eventually very, very slowly added the box with my food to the plastic bag and finally I received my order. Why did it take so long to put my order into a plastic bag and give it to me? The "sliders" are actually a full size sandwich, don't let the name fool you. It was delicious, if slightly cool from sitting at the counter. However, I don't like to patronize a business that has no real management on premises making sure that the staff is engaged. This never happens at Chick Fil-A. I will give them another chance because the food was so good.

I called a little after 4:30pm on a Saturday and an automated system answered and provided multiple options, with "1" for calling in a pickup/delivery order. After pressing "1", it took a couple minutes for someone to answer and when they finally did, they told me they had to place me on hold, thankfully this was not even 10 seconds of waiting though. A gentleman then took my order - he was courteous and I appreciated him asking the cooks in the back a question I had about topping substitutions, which they were good with. After giving my phone number and they found my name and I placed my order, he said give them 30 minutes, which is pretty reasonable, standard. Imperial Pizza on Abbott Rd. does have a parking lot, but it's usually jam-packed so I usually park along the road on a side street close-by. The pickup process was simple and quick, but I will say, the gentlemen working behind the counter weren't too friendly, but they were quick. So for dinner, I ordered a Half (9", six slice) Stuffed Hot Pepper Pizza, but I substituted the Italian sausage for meatballs. The pizza was excellent and had a nice heft to it! Perfect cook on the dough with a nice crisp to the crust and plenty of (sweeter-side) red sauce and cheese. The stuffed hot peppers are diced up and placed generously on each slice, the cheese filling within the hot banana peppers is creamy and does a nice job to contrast the spice from the hot banana peppers. The meatballs were crumbled nicely across the pizza but I could've used a little more (but that's me though :) ). Doing the substitution for meatballs did not increase the price, which was very nice to see, and compared to the other pizza shops I frequently go to, the price was reasonable! Imperial Pizza truly is a Buffalo pizza "heavy hitter"! I don't come here too often but when I've worked up a healthy appetite, I know a pizza from Imperial Pizza will satisfy it.
