Let me just say I am normally a very patient person. I work in a school with the public and I always understand that sometimes things happen and service and/or products can be compromised. That said, today was the single worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. My family and I stopped at the Wendy's located on Ohio 37 in Sunbury, OH, on our way home from the State Track and Field competition. There were other teams in line and it was clearly very busy, but they had the touch screen ordering kiosks so we figured it would be fairly easy to order. We placed our order, swiped our debit card and waited. The order appeared on the monitor screen and we waited for it to move to the completed side. And we waited. And waited. And waited. A couple of times it moved over to the other screen, then by the time we went up to the counter it had moved back over to the waiting column.
When I realized it had been 25 minutes since we had ordered, I decided I needed to find out what was going on. We had paid, the order showed up on the monitor, so we were owed some food within a reasonable amount of time. I approached the young girl who was working the register at the time and told her we had been waiting for 25 minutes which I felt was excessive and could she please either tell us when the order would be ready or simply give us a refund. She apologized for the busy restaurant but appeared confused as to what to do next. She got an older gentleman and brought him to the counter. He asked for a receipt, which we did not have since we ordered at the kiosk with a debit card. We told him the name the order was under and pointed it out on the screen. He looked annoyed and asked how much it was. He was impatient and not at all apologetic about the disorder of the restaurant. I said I didn't remember exactly how much it was but shouldn't he be able to find that information? I again stated that the restaurant was absolute chaos and asked if there was anyone in charge. He didn't offer to find a manager or anything, he just said something about the computer and when I told him it was unacceptable to have orders take this long and no one know when the food would be ready he said belligerently "well I don't see how that's my fault." I said well you work here, it's your job to know what's going on and how to fix it when something goes wrong. He finally found the order ticket for our order (on the floor) and said well it's all ready back here do you want it or not. I said well if it's all ready then why don't I have it and did anyone plan on ever giving it to us? It was ordered to go but he put it on a tray with no apologies. A younger man came over while he was testing the food and said they were really slammed and understaffed. I told him that was understandable but the attitude of the older gentleman was terrible and the entire staff seemed clueless as to what to do in any situation. There seemed to me to be plenty of workers and no one in charge.
We finally sat down with our food (cold) and ate. My daughter had ordered a salad and after eating 75% of it, looked at me in disgust and held up her fork with a big bite of lettuce and a dead ladybug on it. I took the salad up to the counter and left it. I will never set foot in a Wendy's again and I warned everyone in line to get out while they still could.
Seriously, the most ill mannered staff, poor management, and mass chaos. Not to mention bugs in the food. Never again. read more
