Staff was extremely polite and got my food out very fast with the correct order. About 6:00 on a Tuesday night, everything seemed clean.

I love this place! I've been here five or six times? Always great service always great food…read more Obviously you have to get the smashburgers. Standard has two patties squished out pretty well. Great meat flavor, seasoned well and caramelized edges, just like you want a smashburger to be. The bun is just super, it appears to be buttered and grilled. I get the plain Jane with American and add bacon and fried onions. House fries appear fresh cut, remind me of five guys which is top of the food chain as far as fries are concerned. The fried pickles are exceptional. All around a great dining experience! If you are old, like me, it gets a little loud, so sit next to the person that you want to talk to, ha ha. The heavenly smell of their burgers stay with you for a couple hours after you leave....

I ordered the Wisconsinite Burger with cheese curds on the side, along with a beer from 3 Sheeps Brewing. I had never tried their beer before, and it was really good. The burger was delicious too, and I genuinely enjoyed it. The cheese curds had their own unique style. They tasted good, but they just were not really my thing. The service made the experience even better. My server was very polite, helpful, and informative. When I mentioned that it was my first time in Beloit, she recommended checking out the stadium to catch a minor league baseball game. I thought that was a really cool local recommendation. I forgot her name but she was a great server!! Overall, I loved my experience and would definitely go back.

Beef-a-Roo, I give you a two!…read more The first time I drove up to Eau Claire, I noticed some Beef-a-Roo restaurants and was intrigued by the name. Yet, somehow, I kept missing the stops on trying to visit. One time I was in the wrong lane, another time was the place looked closed. So, it was my mission to hit it up this time around. I had actually stopped at one in Rockford after getting Velvet Robot Coffee Lab but the place was packed and the wait was longer than I wanted. Beef-a-Roo to the rescue on my way home. I stopped by around 2pm so there was no lunch rush to contend with. I knew what I already wanted from looking at their menu from before. I got the jalapeno bacon burger with a medium fry and soda. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed they had some stickers for sale. I asked for the retro cowboy one but those were out, so I got the large circular one instead. My food only took a few minutes to be ready and I was quick to sit down and dig in. Maybe it was from experiencing all the local places in Wisconsin but Beef-a-Roo was not worth the hype and wait. The fries were good if not anything more than average. The problem was the jalapeno bacon burger. For it having jalapeno, they were the most neutered things ever. They had no spice or flavor at all. The bacon on the burger was good when I ate the pieces that hung off the edges but had no flavor once consumed with the rest of the burger. As for the meat patty itself, it was overly greasy to the point where I think that killed any flavor that the rest of the burger may have provided. Luckily it did do the job and fill me up for the rest of the drive home and keep me satiated until breakfast the next day but man, how disappointing it was to have a burger just fail to deliver on any flavor. As I sit here and write this the day after, I honestly struggle to remember anything about how it tasted. I can say there were some positives about Beef-a-Roo. The staff were fast and friendly. The young girl who went hunting for my sticker was awesome at her job. And when you get your food, they give you an Andes mint. At least that has some taste. Maybe it was just this location but I definitely have some beef with this place now. Jokes aside, if I ever find myself at a Beef-a-Roo again, I will give their roast beef sandwiches a fair shake. Maybe that's where they excel that.

The Road Dawg Family Restaurant is my dad's regular Thursday spot, and he brings me here every time…read moreI'm in town. Located right off the interstate, it has that classic highway diner feel. The main sign on the pole has definitely seen better days, and the place as a whole feels a bit run down. As you walk in, be careful of the trip hazard at the entrance--it's a bit uneven. It's a little "divey," but don't let that be a dealbreaker. It's just an observation, a reminder not to judge a book by its cover. Note to management: Some minor fixes could give it a little more curb appeal. Stepping inside, you'll see the main dining room and an old buffet area that I assume hasn't been used since COVID. It's all a bit dated, but clean and functional. They serve breakfast all day and have a full lunch and dinner menu as well. Even though it was a relatively busy Sunday morning, we were greeted and seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our initial service. Almost before I could take a sip of my no-frills, bottomless cup of $3 coffee, our giant portions of breakfast arrived. It was an omelette kind of day for us. We placed a special order for my dad (he's got his usual), I got the Denver Omelette ($14) with jalapeños, and my stepmom ordered the Meat Eaters Omelette ($15). They opted for toast, and I got the pancakes, which were a meal in themselves. While the prices have increased significantly since my first visit, the large portions are big enough to share or take half home, which is exactly what we did. We were a little ignored and never asked if everything was as expected. We did, however, get coffee refills and eventually received the bill and some to-go boxes. Another note to management: The bell that incessantly rings every time someone comes or goes needs to go! By the time we left, I was anxious and extremely tired of the bell. I feel sorry for the employees who have to listen to that all day long! Overall, this place does a good and honest business. Aside from the bell and the slight dip in attention, we enjoyed our meal.
