Beef-a-Roo, I give you a two! The first time I drove up to Eau Claire, I noticed some Beef-a-Roo restaurants and was intrigued by the name. Yet, somehow, I kept missing the stops on trying to visit. One time I was in the wrong lane, another time was the place looked closed. So, it was my mission to hit it up this time around. I had actually stopped at one in Rockford after getting Velvet Robot Coffee Lab but the place was packed and the wait was longer than I wanted. Beef-a-Roo to the rescue on my way home. I stopped by around 2pm so there was no lunch rush to contend with. I knew what I already wanted from looking at their menu from before. I got the jalapeno bacon burger with a medium fry and soda. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed they had some stickers for sale. I asked for the retro cowboy one but those were out, so I got the large circular one instead. My food only took a few minutes to be ready and I was quick to sit down and dig in. Maybe it was from experiencing all the local places in Wisconsin but Beef-a-Roo was not worth the hype and wait. The fries were good if not anything more than average. The problem was the jalapeno bacon burger. For it having jalapeno, they were the most neutered things ever. They had no spice or flavor at all. The bacon on the burger was good when I ate the pieces that hung off the edges but had no flavor once consumed with the rest of the burger. As for the meat patty itself, it was overly greasy to the point where I think that killed any flavor that the rest of the burger may have provided. Luckily it did do the job and fill me up for the rest of the drive home and keep me satiated until breakfast the next day but man, how disappointing it was to have a burger just fail to deliver on any flavor. As I sit here and write this the day after, I honestly struggle to remember anything about how it tasted. I can say there were some positives about Beef-a-Roo. The staff were fast and friendly. The young girl who went hunting for my sticker was awesome at her job. And when you get your food, they give you an Andes mint. At least that has some taste. Maybe it was just this location but I definitely have some beef with this place now. Jokes aside, if I ever find myself at a Beef-a-Roo again, I will give their roast beef sandwiches a fair shake. purchased a !!! 10 DOLLAR !!! cheeseburger with "a little extra mayo" from drive-thru. when I opened the wrapper two seconds after it being handed to me, gobs of ketchup smeared all over, poured down entire side of burger, bun halfway off and soggy from what looks like about two or 3 tablespoons of ketchup and pickles all piled on the edge. I thought about just letting it go , but I couldn't even grab it. Not to mention that I'm in my vehicle with this mess. When I went back inside and rather calmy asked for a refund, The older lady I assume was the manager was very rude to me. she was going to tell me why I was wrong and mumble and moan. then she threw it into the garbage can with an attitude. this was after making me stand there and wait in line behind two people ordering while one of the workers could see me clearly, and didn't ask me if I needed help. no apology, no offer to make it right.. just my money back and an attitude. that's not how you treat your guests. Very unprofessional. i'm going to take a break from beef-a-roo. this is a completely unacceptable experience. there's another burger place that starts with the letter C, in Belvidere. they can make a triple burger perfectly and exactly how I order it. We were traveling through the state and thought we'd try something that we don't have in the south. Food was just average in the fast food game. Ordered ahead via app. Pulled up to curbside, called the number on the sign and someone came out quickly. Checked the order but was missing sauces for one of the sandwiches. My husband had to go back inside and ask for some. Again, food was just average. I got a loaded baked potato. Lots of bacon but cheese was the runny, super orange cheese from a can. Not appetizing at all. They did give butter and sour cream though. I'm deleting the app, doubtful that we will ever go back there again while we are traveling. They all have a great selection for families from salads to kids' meals to soups to burgers & more. Still reasonable prices for the most part & a quick, easy, generally pleasant option. Drive thru order. 1 onion rings. 1 pork tenderloin Asked for ketchup and 1 bbq sauce. Onion rings were basically inedible. There was ZERO crunch to them. Completely soaked in grease. I squeezed the onion rings and grease pooled up in my hand. I tried one and the only taste present was old grease. That's a 1/10 for me. Pork tenderloin was slightly better. No flavor at all to the sandwich itself. If it weren't for the onions and pickles I wouldn't even know I was eating anything. Luckily enough I had my own hot sauce and was able to provide this sandwich with some flavor. It was a 1.5/10 for me. The ketchup I requested was not in the bag and when the cashier asked me if I would like a receipt I answered yes. Bag was handed to me without the receipt so I figured receipt was in the bag. I got a late lunch to go on a Friday. The restaurant wasn't too busy. The beef a roo is famous in the Rockford area. I ordered a big beef sandwich, roast beef and cheese (cheddar), a small fry, and medium chocolate shake! I spent a little over 20 bucks for everything. The roast beef is so good! Beef is moist and flavorful! The beef comes on a quality sesame bun. It is similar but better than arbys. My wife loved the beef and cheddar. The shake was good and chocolatey. The downfall of my order was the fries! Frozen and slender fries that lacked flavor! They are similar in size to mcds but they are just not good. I would come back to try other items and the roast beef again! The shakes are good too! read more

The place was hopping, but don't let that fool you, At best I'd say that it was a let down, but honestly it was kinda gross. If you notice all these businesses are unclaimed. There's a reason for them being unclaimed Beef-A-Roo has bad food it doesn't want anyone to know that they know. The fries are too salty and their meat is too salty assuage an edible. The first time I noticed this was about a year ago and I figured it was because of Covid so I gave it another year and we just went back tonight and it's gotten worse if it all possible. So if you're looking for a good roast beef sandwich this is not the place to go although it used to be before Covid hit does it they've messed with the recipe and farting around with your fries maybe one of these days to go back and change things back to the way they used to be until then they've lost a customer so take your chances people I'm not taking mine read more

I recently tried the other beef-a-roo on alpine and I would say this location has better fries. Theirs has the right amount of seasoned salt and the fries have some definition to them. Almost like the outer edges (not tips) are hard and the inner is soft. It's almost as if they use different cooking oil! Alpine's beef-a-roo may have better decor, but their fries taste soft, soggy and no where near the same amount of seasoned salt. I would definitely recommend this location over Alpine. read more

They offer a variety of salads, with chicken, BUT if you take the chicken off then you ACTUALLY get a discount! Imagine that!!! I wish more restaurants would take a page from their book! Went there last night about 7:15. The food took awhile and I figured we would get fresh fries, nope cold and old and no seasoning on them. My hubby asked for a senior discount and was not given one. The pork tenderloin was not fresh tasting either. I will not be eating there again. The food and service has all gone downhill. My husband didn't like his fries either. We are not big complainers,but old fries that sat in the warming basket and were not even fresh by any means.I can eat cheaper and better, fresher food at their competitors. Nor were they warm. You shouldn't have to ask for fresh fries and food when you go in to a restaurant. That should be a given. The only place I ask when I go into is McDonald's for fresh fish,and I rarely go in there a couple times a year. You have lowered your service and quality to worse than McDonald's. price is too high for the quality of food and service you dished out last night. I'm thinking you figured a couple of senior citizens don't care and needed cold food. Don't expect us back. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

CHOO-CHOO! All aboard this "train depot" version of my favorite Rockford fast food chain. You'll get the usual beefy treats (classic beef for me, beef and cheddar for my road trip buddy) along with the cheddar fries that are "I will get back on the wagon with my diet tomorrow" good. This particular B-A-R is decked out in train station finest with great local photographs of train depot, a cathedral-style wooden frame, and pews at the front, much like you'd perch upon to await a train. Fantastic place to eat! Food is made fresh, each location has its own unique feel, and the service is cheery. There are a couple unique things about Beef-A-Roo that I love. Firstly, they season items with celery salt, which has a fantastic taste in comparison to regular old sodium chloride. Secondly, a server comes around partway through your meal (remember, this is a fast-food establishment) and checks to see how everything is, along with offering you a peppermint or Andes Candies. Nice touch! Finally, there are less than 10 of these in the world, so each one has a quality feel to it and is uniquely decorated with quality decor. There's a fire station, train station, 50s diner, and a few others. All in all, everything is great at Beef-A-Roo! Their roast beef and burgers are quality sandwiches, they make pretty good baked potatoes, and their fries and chips are to die for. I can't wait to be back in the area so I can return! read more

This restaurant is different and cool for a fast food franchise. The food is head and shoulders above McD and BK. The unique building and decor, old-time train station theme, is appealing to all ages. The carry out and dine in menu is extensive featuring a wide selection of sandwiches, generous portions and (dine in only) free drink refills. Food is tasty, salads appear to be made fresh daily and the cheddar fries are terrific. Only 1 time out of over 25 visits was there a problem with the food: the Chicken Strips were way overcooked and tasted like the fried onion rings. Rare food complaints are handled well by managers. Very family oriented, bright and clean, including the restrooms. Service is good and the staff is well trained and seems to want to put the customers first. My grandchildren would rather eat here than McD or BK! Overall, best fast food restaurant in the area - by a wide margin. read more

I was not too impressed by beefaroo. my whole family eats vegetarian style. they have "vegetarian friendly" choices. but after trying them, they are not! all the vegi burgers and tofu products were prepared wrong and or under cooked. we still go for fries and shakes occasionally. those are pretty good though. just not too diverse. cudos for trying. read more

Staff is friendly, resturant is always clean, good menu selection. Prices and decent and food quality is great. We have used them for our family lunch and for various catering events and I have been very pleased with their service and taste of the food each time.
