Big beef sandwich with a bite so good
    Matt M.

I got a late lunch to go on a Friday. The restaurant wasn't too busy. The beef a roo is famous in the Rockford area. I ordered a big beef sandwich, roast beef and cheese (cheddar), a small fry, and medium chocolate shake! I spent a little over 20 bucks for everything. The roast beef is so good! Beef is moist and flavorful! The beef comes on a quality sesame bun. It is similar but better than arbys. My wife loved the beef and cheddar. The shake was good and chocolatey. The downfall of my order was the fries! Frozen and slender fries that lacked flavor! They are similar in size to mcds but they are just not good. I would come back to try other items and the roast beef again! The shakes are good too!

Grill cheese- no, not off the kids menu!! Grilled Cheese Sandwich

THIS WAS NOT OFF THE KIDS MENU!! These Beef-A-Roos are all over Rockford. For the life of me I cant imagine why? Desperate to eat something before I went grocery shopping, I ordered a grill cheese with bacon and tomato. This is literally what I got- a HALF sandwich. Add to that the grease just dripped off it. Take a hard pass..

I recently tried the other beef-a-roo on alpine and I would say this location has better fries. Theirs has the right amount of seasoned salt and the fries have some definition to them. Almost like the outer edges (not tips) are hard and the inner is soft. It's almost as if they use different cooking oil! Alpine's beef-a-roo may have better decor, but their fries taste soft, soggy and no where near the same amount of seasoned salt. I would definitely recommend this location over Alpine.

This is the "Train Depot" location. While I like their others a little bit better, this place is still top notch. Fine fast food.

This is a meat market located on IL 251 in Roscoe IL. They do have a cafe attached, but I'm more…read moreinterested in the market portion itself. Given my recent obsession with smoking, I decided to give this place a try. Here is my pros vs cons analysis. Reviewed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/E5806AYt6-Y Pros: -They have plenty selection between beef, pork, and seafood. Plenty of things to sample. Plenty of things to smoke. It would keep me busy for a few months easy. -Main Street Meat prepare their product in house. Most of the meat cuts all seem to be butchered on site and it is a nice touch. Quality seems better than the average packaged meat you find at Wal-Mart -Staff was very pleasant, helpful, and patient. I was taking my sweet time. -Decent set of spices, peppers, and sauces. Even though the one I tried wasn't that great. -They even have other items such as grill accessories, beef jerky (again in house), local dairy haus ice cream (i need to review them too), and a neat little thermo bag. -And finally even even had home made dog treats... and that's just cool. My dog didn't really go for the pig ear, but she's weird anyways Moving on to the cons: -The biggest one is that you'll be paying a premium here. That's true with any specialty meat market. They may have a feel specials though that may lower the price tag a bit. -I still have a lot to learn with food prep, so I may be tossing away some extra money needlessly on failed experiments. -I enjoyed the ribeye, but again, the spice was a miss. That was my fault. Not theirs. Bottom Line: So the verdict. There are a couple of local meat markets in the area, but the staff, cleanliness, and professionalism, had me give it 4.5 stars on Yelp which means its a 5. I will be back.

The meat and deli are both great. You can get a freshly made sandwich and eat it there or takeout…read more They have a wonderful selection of fresh meats as well as frozen meals. One thing I always get there for my dog is the "chicken chips". My dog loves them.
