I've been a frequent customer of Taco John's (about 2-3 times per month) since growing up in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area, and I've continued coming to this location since moving to the Rockford-Loves Park-Machesney Park area three years ago. The food is consistently high quality, fresh, and reliable, and the customer service is excellent. Last Thursday night, the location was operating drive-thru only due to being short-staffed, and my Taco Bravo was accidentally left out of my order. After calling back, the manager on shift quickly made it right by offering two free Taco Bravos on my next visit. We came back that Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My only suggestion would be to double-check mobile and drive-thru orders during busy evenings and weekends. Overall, a great experience and a well-run location. read more

For what it is, it was fine We walked in & ordered immediately at the kiosk We've never been B4 so we just ordered a couple combos. 1 spice chicken grilled burrito & a ground beef with potatoes ole & a side of queso. 1st thing was - the 2 burritos weren't marked so we had to cut them open to figure out who's was who's. 2nd they were 2 tiny burritos that were just a snack. Arrived 15mins before closing time and no one would take my order in the drive thru, I saw employees inside but they refused to come to the window even after pulling around. There was another car behind me that had to drive off due to the same lack of service. read more

It puts the lotion on it's skin and puts it in the basket again. For me, winter means two things; slathering my dessicated skin with plenty of lotion, and partaking copiously of tacos. I deal in non-sequitors, so forgive me the lack of a cohesive theme here. Anyway, I usually eat 2 Taco Bell crunchy tacos each day for lunch. Hey, they're low cal and delicious and you can't beat the texture of the crunchy shell. But when I was in Rockford recently, and there was narry a Taco Bell to be found, I stumbled upon a Taco John that was so new and lusterous that I had to don the Ray-Bans to effectively navigate the drive thru. It happened to be 59 cent taco Tuesday, so I went all in and ordered three. I have to tell you, they were absolutely delicious. Definitely a notch above Taco bell. The shell wasn't just a vessel for the other ingredients. It was an ingredient itself. It had a delicious saltiness and a great texture. The meat was perfectly spiced, the lettuce was fresh and crispy, and the sauce was spicy but smokey. Really Tasty! Forget following the Grateful Dead ( I guess that would be pretty difficult now anyway) or Phish, my new goal is to visit every Taco John in the country. The food is decent when I finally get it. I have been 3 times and all 3 times I have to wait in drive through for minimum of 25 min. Also all 3 times only half my food was in the bag. I was even told once that I didn't order what was missing. Even after I showed them the receipt. The last time I went there was 5 people there in the back. 3 of them sitting on the counters in back on their phones. Very unimpressed and disappointed with the service. read more
