You don't see to many Wendy's here like you do in the south and midwest. I hope that doesn't deter their corporate initiative from the new branding campaign. The new Wendy's looks more like a hipster lounge than a fast food joint, complete with couches, free WiFi and outside seating. I haven't seen any indicators at this location that this one will, although it is much needed. Nonetheless, it's still my go to spot when I want a fully loaded baked potato. Wendy's is also my 1st choice over Mickey D's. The employees here are unbelievably polite and mannerable. Because of the precarious location at the fork of the freeway entry and exit, the driveway can easily be missed. If you miss it you're pretty much screwed. The best way to enter is to use driveway at IHOP and cross through the parking lot. read more

Absolute terrible service! Don't go here. Went through the drive thru and the manager was being extremely rude telling the nice, poor cashier to charge .75 cents extra for bacon even though it was their mistake. The manager kept yelling at the cashier until she charged me. After I left and went back home, I realized they gave me the wrong drink. They gave me seltzer water instead of sprite. When I went back to the restaurant to get the right drink, the manager was still telling me that I basically owed them .75 cents for the bacon because the cashier didn't end up charging my card for the bacon. After I told her I didn't have any change to give her, she threw my drink on the counter and said "ok here, have a nice day". It was the absolute worst service I've had. Do not go here. " Bad Management and A Horrible Long Wait " My family of six went to the Wendy's at 8749 Campo Rd. in La Mesa, Ca. yesterday just to get a Frosty Ice Cream Cup during the hot weather. The line when I got to the restaurant had 9 people in it with another couple at the one and only cash register they have in the entire store. That alone is BAD ! The couple at the counter was ordering $50.00 worth of meals and took 14 minutes by themselves to handcraft the details that they wanted for every meal they were ordering. That's why you need two Cash registers, so you can continue the order line for other people. The cashier was a new employee and had no idea what she was doing. She had to call the manager over and over, to over ride her mistakes on the cash register. Because of all the mistakes she made the Manager should have taken her off the cash register because it was taking FOREVER ! The cashier made so many more mistakes with the other 9 people in front of me, that I was in line just to get some simple ice cream cups for over 25 minutes. That right you heard me, 25 minutes ! People behind me that were in line were also complaining and going crazy because of the long wait. And this is supposed to be a "FAST FOOD PLACE". One older man with a long gray & white beard said " My beard was Brown when I got in this Line ". And when I finally received my Ice Cream Frosty Cups the vanilla was already half way melted ! Typical Wendy's location but here, they complete the food usually before I even get to the window which is great had they added napkins or asked if I wanted ketchup etc. Even forgot the straw when handin me the bag and drink. I think on this day the drive thru cashier was biting more than watch she could chew because I was getting irritated when I was asking for pepper and ketchup and my straw as she was taking another order with her head set for the other car. I think they should at any drive thru location ensure the present customer at window is taken throughly taken care of prior to just slamming in orders and not giving a squat about the little details of a complete order. I will never ever go to this joint again. I purchased a hamburger and fries. When I went to add ketchup to my burger I lifted the bun only to find a dirty old rubberband. The woman at the register claimed it was an onion. When I stretched out the "onion" she told me they would not give me another burger or my money back. This place is just trash. read more

I love Wendy's but the poor service, lack of motivation, and simple common sense makes it really hard for me to be a fan. EVERYTIME I pull in the drive through my order has been messed up. Service was horrible. They messed up my order twice and the food was cold. The only thing that was fresh were the fries. I wasn't informed that the chocolate frosty wasn't available when I ordered a chocolate one. They ended up giving me a vanilla frosty without asking if it was alright. Normally it wouldn't bother me if I had just been informed so then I could've just changed it to a normal fountain drink if i had known. This Wendy's has VASTLY improved in the last few years! 2-3years ago they always forgot something from my order, took forever and then cooked my food incorrectly. It was so bad that my husband and I would actually make jokes about it! But, in the last year or so I have had no complaints! Fast food is convenient. So why asked for anything extra including some form of customer service. It could be as easy as being acknowledged... Such as remembering "no ice" on the doctor pepper, or remembering to give a straw. This job is not rocket science. Although I do believe every individual required to make enough to live... It not hard to read the display window, to ask for funds, and (hopefully providing) the items asked. You're not saving lives, conducting funerals, teaching new generations, and so on. All I ask for, and hope that everyone asks for, is consistency. I want food, SERVICE, done the same way the day before and the day after. Everyone knows low wage job suck. I get it. Just want to give a shout out to Ernesto working the register and all the kitchen staff tonight!! We came in during a fairly busy time. I could tell Ernesto was working really hard to get everyone's orders in and assist the kitchen with getting the orders out at the same time. He looked at us after a minute after rushing through bagging up some food, smiled and said he'd be right with us. Working in a restaurant and understanding being stressed and wanting your customers to all have a great experience I told him to take his time.i ordered a salad with a few modifications, (no meat and a cheese substitution), fries were hot and everything came out great. Trust me if i could give zero stars i would! I never write reviews but I couldn't pass up on writing one on this place. They are the WORST! They never get your order right. Every time i get home their is always something missing from my order. It happens everytime i go. I just went through the drive thru and asked the lady when she handed me my bags if that was everthing and she said yes. I drive all the way back home to see they left out a french fry and a hamburger. The last time i was there a month or so ago i ordered a taco salad and all they gave me was the salad and sour cream. No chili or chips! These people need to be trained again because it's ridiculous. The sad this is their wait times are the WORST! ordered the green salad with apple, chicken, and pecan. I have had it in other Wendy's and it was great. This one has lots of white iceberg lettuce and two pieces of spinach. Wow where should I begin. I usually have a bad experience when coming to this Wendy's, it seems like they thought a little remodel could fix their major customer service problem but no it didn't. In the 7 times I've been to this Wendy's 3 times the order has been wrong. The first time they gave me the wrong drink, the second time they gave me a baconater without bacon (HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN!!!) and last night they gave me a jr bacon burger with no cheese with cheese. Did I forget to mention that I'm lactose intolerant? I should learn by now to check the food before I leave but I don't, so by the time I get home it's too far to go back or it's closed because I go late. The other times I let it slide, this time I was upset and decided to get a new burger made but they were closed last night so I called today and explained the situation. They were understanding and told me to come by. I came by and they had no idea what I was talking about or who the employee was that told me to come in. Turns out I called the store down the street (oops) but I went to the Wendy's that messed up my order. The lady that I initially talked to started smiling and laughing as if in disbelief of me, the supervisor (it looked like) was giving me suspicious glances the whole time and kept asking me a bunch of unnecessary questions. When is Wendy's going to figure out what customer service means?!? They messed up my order 3 times and they are seriously trying to blow me off?!?! Nice guys, real nice. So then the supervisor reluctantly tells me that she is going to give me another sandwich but just the sandwich. (I'm fine with that, I never asked for anymore than that) and told me in a nasty manner that next time I had to bring proof of my order because they wouldn't do this for me again, HAH! please as if I keep my receipts. How about you people make my order right the first time every time, and if you don't I get it, but don't make me look stupid in line when clearly you are at fault. Wendy's - Goopy cheese on my jr bacon burger I ordered without cheese. They put cheese and gave me a hard time when I asked them to remake it. - Burgers Near Me - La Mesa, California

I took my son here yesterday, we got there after 2, and there was no line in the drive-thru, and only one person in front of us. Still it took 7 minutes in line before we got to order, there were at least 2 managers there, and 3 other employees that I saw. After we ordered a guy came in and ordered like 6 burgers and fries, well, I waited for our order for 5 minutes, we ordered a kids meal and a burger with no tomatoes. After 5 minutes they put his meal and our drinks on a tray, then I waited some more, finally I got the burger, in the meantime my sons food had gotten cold. As I was finally getting my order, the gut who came a few minutes fter me got his large order at the same time. Obviously they were too busy making his order and had forgotten mine, and on top of that they managed to screw up my burger, they added tomatoes, and there was no cheese. My sons fries looked like they had been cooked twice, maybe they were leftovers, he wouldn't eat them. No one in this place was friendly, not once were we greeted, no one made eye contact, and there was no apology for taking nearly 20 minutes for my order. So after my previous review I emailed the corporate office at Wendy's with my complaints, as I have visited this location numerous times over the past year and have received bad service. I was told I would receive a response within three days but saw nothing. Emailed again five days later and received the response below: "Hi Mr.Travis my name is *removed* District Manager for this Wendy's location at Campo Rd. I'm very sorry to hear about your last visit wasn't good at all , I did email you the same day but my email was rejected . I ready have a talk to the management team at this location , I will going to do some changes at this location , you will see the difference in the service just give another chance, Also I talk to the manager in charge of the food order is unacceptable to be out of any product. Again I'm very sorry, I don't want to loose you as customers please send me your mailing address for me to send you some coupons to use in your return ." A nice response, and my reply is posted below as well: "Hi, Thank you for the response, I appreciate it. I would like to return to your store at Campo Rd at some point and look forward to seeing what improvements have been made to the customer service experience. I myself work in customer service with a very strong company in San Diego, so I do tend to notice when the customer service experience falls short. Little things can often make a huge difference. Just asking someone if they would like any ketchup with their meal before they go, rather than handing them the meal and saying "here you go," can go a long way. Also, I would suggest handing the customers the straw along with the soda, instead of packing it in with the meal, so that people can sip on their sodas while they wait for their meal. Thank you for the offer of coupons, but I would rather not give out my mailing address. Have a great rest of your week!" That said, here's a play-by-play of my latest trip to Wendy's and my first since my review (about three weeks have elapsed): Stopped by the drive through and ordered a number 8 Asiago chicken sandwich meal. The person taking the order did not ask if I would like it spicy or regular or what size I would like, so after pausing for a few moments I chimed in and ordered the spicy and make it a large. She said okay I'll change it to a large but on the screen it popped up as medium. I asked into the monitor, "Hey, you had that down as a large, right?" She asked me to hold on a moment and that she'd be right back. I waited a minute or two and then the line began to move so I pulled forward. At the window I asked again if it was a large and she said, "did you order a large or medium?" I said large and she adjusted the price and handed me my large soda. I waited to see if they would give me a straw and they did not. Then she handed me my food and said thank you. Again, no offer of condiments. I had to hold out the bag again and ask for some ranch (thankfully this time they had some). When I got home, realized the fries were a medium size. They may have piss poor service, but at least they are consistent. read more

So, we don't eat fast food all that often, and when we do we rotate between a few places near us. I have visited this Wendy's a grand total of about 5-6 times. the first few times were, by and large okay. Nothing to write home about, but okay. The last 2 times we have visited there they seem unable to get our order correct. The first time I let it go figuring that everyone is entitled to an off day and even though I ended up paying for something I did not get, I just am not going to go back out after I get home, wait in line again all to hopefully get the right order. Tonight I had to scrape the cheese and ranch dressing off my sandwich as, rather than give us the sandwiches we ordered, they just gave us three of the same. I cannot have dairy and I really hope I got enough off of it that it won't cause me issues later. They have now lost my business. No, I don't want a free piece of whatever the hell you have, I really just want you to get it right. failing that, I need to go elsewhere. If you have dietary requirements I recommend going elsewhere. My grandson is T1D and he loves their food but I can now no longer trust that they will make his food properly.
