Food was good... They forgot the sauces that they charge extra for, went through the drive through again asking for the sauces I paid for. The employee was nice until a manager took over and interrupted. After refusing to give me my sauces for two minutes I was able to pull up and get my sauces. After opening my cheese sauce, it was empty with a small drop of cheese. Rude manager, scammed me out of what I was charged extra for. Typical wendies with some exceptions. Recently the store runs out of essential items like chicken nuggets and fries for extended periods of time. I don't think they are staffed well enough to handle a lunch rush. I went in on Monday and my son and I waited 20 minutes behind one person in line. But the employees were just tending to drive thru and never helped anyone in line. My son and I left and ate at Arby's across the street. read more

I have been to this Wendy's countless times and I have only ever had one mistake made in my orders. They service is usually quite quick though there have been a few long lines accompanied by lengthy waits but that's to be expected from time to time. The food is always very hot and made with all the correct additions and subtractions. Most of all, the person at the window is almost always kind and upbeat which I love! This is by far the slowest fast food I have ever had. I work close & like Wendy's so I keep giving them a try every so often. Every time I go here it takes 15-20 minutes to go thru the drive thru. This time the guy at the window was very polite and apologized they were short staffed. Its partially my own fault for keep going back thinking its going to change. All the other places in the area are fine & its been this way for a better part of 2-3 years. So I would assume its a management or owner problem. read more

GOT FOOD POISONING!!!! Me and husband just moved here 2days ago from the military base in Colorado. Anyway we went here to get some food cause we missed Wendy's and haven't had them in 5years. Went through the drive up tonight. When we got home found out the Jr Cheeseburger was not what ordered. Not sure what it was. It had bacon but it wasn't a hamburger. My wife took it back and went through the drive up to the window. She said this wasn't a Jr Cheeseburger. The lady said they would make her another. My wife went to hand the bag through the window and was told they couldn't take it. It then slipped and the bag fell to the ground. Woman said "did you throw that on the ground? My wife said no, it slipped. Woman then said you will have to leave my parking lot or I will call the police. The woman was very rude at which my wife left without getting the Jr Cheeseburger. We have eaten from the Ames Wendy's ever since they came to Ames. We like their food but their service has gone down hill tremendous in the last 2 years. There were 5 people behind the counter and the young man doing the register was also filling all of the orders. I waited nearly 15 minutes for chili cheese fries and a frosty. The dining room was in dire need of cleaning. When I left I was the only person in the restaurant besides the staff and they were all just standing. The order took 10 minutes alone not including wait time to order in the drive through line which was around 20-25 minutes. The food was made incorrectly. I asked for no mustard, no ketchup, no pickle, no onion, on a burger and got all of it. I also paid $1.20 extra for bacon and received no bacon. I had to go back to the drive through since the doors are locked and waited another 20-25 minutes. read more

Stopped here after a long day of traveling in Iowa, it was our last stop before returning home. For fast food, it was a pleasent surprise. The people working here were very friendly, our food was brought out to us instead of waiting at counter, a very nice surprise. I had the spicy chicken wraps and fries both were very hot and fresh. This last St. Patrick's day I went through the Wendy's Drive Thru. Service was a bit impersonal but very fast. While eating I noticed my burger was cold and pink. Two days later I couldn't eat anything due to intestinal problems. My samples tested positive for Campylobacter and E Coli. I spent 8 days eating nothing and drinking water and blue gatorade to stay alive. Check any meat you eat here before consuming. read more

I will not be eating here ever again. This is the third time they have not provided very good service for my boyfriend and I. The food that we get is always cold and/or made wrong, not to mention they have poor customer service. We have filed complaints in the past for nothing to be done about it. Food is always cold, not going back after my last experience when they got two of our orders wrong and the wrong flavor ice cream, they did, in fact, they did give me another ice cream but the staff is so untrained where you ask them a simple question and they freeze and ignore you. This place kinda went down hill in the 3 years I've been away from Ames. I use to love coming here when I lived in the area. I brought my family up to central Iowa for my niece's high school graduation. We went to Ames to get a last minute graduation gift for my niece, and while in Ames, we got a little hungry. I saw Wendy's was still there so I pulled in. The girl behind the counter tried to be friendly, but I think my kid's indecisiveness was getting to her, and she seemed a bit annoyed, like we were taking up her time. We wait for our order, which we told her was to go, the manager puts it all on a tray, then seemed annoyed when I told him it was to go. We get down the road, and all I have to say is SALT CITY , on both the burgers and the fries. My wife, who has high blood pressure can't eat a whole lot of salt, so she just nibbled on what she could handle. Prices were outrageous as well. 33 bucks for 3 burgers and fries and 1 kids chicken nugget meal. This has to be just a problem with this store, because we actually enjoy the Wendy's we go to down here in Springfield. I hope the get their act together soon otherwise they will lose more and more customers. Sad, because actually liked this store back when I lived in the area. read more
