We had a leak around our chimney flashing that was allowing water to leak into our wall, and Wendell's was one of a few companies we called to get an estimate. They came out, seemed professional and knowledgeable. Our roof is new (the flashing is the only problem), and they investigated what was going on and didn't try to sell us any other repairs. They quoted us $1500, which we thought was fair, and we paid a deposit of $750 up front. They said that they'd have us on the schedule within three weeks. Three weeks after that, they called to let us know that they were behind schedule but that they hadn't forgotten about us, and they would have us on the schedule shortly. We waited 2 months. Even though a leak like this is obviously an urgent issue, we tried to be understanding...it was the holiday season, and we figured that we would be on the schedule in early January. When that didn't happen, we called frequently but kept getting the same answering machine recording saying that they were on vacation. We left messages asking to be called back immediately, but they didn't return our calls. Finally, we decided we couldn't wait any longer to address the leak. We called our credit card company and disputed the deposit charge, explaining that it was for service that was never rendered. Luckily, the credit card company refunded us our $750 without any hassle. If we'd paid with a check, there's no doubt in my mind that we would be out our deposit, as it seems that this company has just disappeared (even their website is down). Oddly enough, we did get a message from someone at Wendell's a few days after we had canceled our deposit, saying that they wanted to "get us on the schedule," with no apology or explanation for their months of radio silence. They left their personal number (not the business number), which seemed a little odd. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend trusting this company (which may or may not exist at this point). I feel for the folks that weren't able to recover their deposits! read more

You are showing a company "Wendell's Roofing" in Royal Oak, MI. This company is out of business ... and for good reason. They did a complete tear-off and new roof on my home in 2011. The shingles were improperly nailed, and now the shingles are sliding off the back of my house after only 9 years. Contractors who have come out and looked at it have said, "Sorry to say, this is one of the worst jobs I've seen... "Shit workmanship!" Now I need a repair for several thousand more dollars!!!! Please make these notes in your files. read more

Same problem. They have put on several roofs for me over the years and now he has disappeared off the face of the earth. So much for my warranty! read more

They told me my intermittent roof leak was caused by a little piece of bent chimney flashing. I paid $2200 for flashing repair and caulking around some vents to be sure. Next rain, I suddenly had a leaking hole in my ceiling (never had that much in the past 10 years). I've been calling patiently and once weekly since September, but the owner has never called me back. With the recent snow, water has been running down my wall through the hole for days. I sent photos, and expressed my request for a remedy. Last week they told me is that they are telling everyone they won't address anything until after January 1st. That will be 3 1/2 months after I paid them to fix a small leak. I can't help but think they got my money and now they don't care to stand by their work, like they extensively advertise. Definitely NOT the leak specialists they say they are. I'm heartbroken, and broke. If they remedy my leak after all, I will gladly revise my review, but I highly doubt that will ever happen. Don't get suckered like I did. read more

Wendell's Roofing & Remodeling - Suddenly leaking hole in ceiling after their overpriced and obviously unnecessary chimney flashing "repair". - Roofing Near Me - Royal Oak, Michigan

The only reason I'm giving this company 1 star is because it's the lowest rating I can give. I would prefer to give this company zero stars! I can't comment on their workmanship because I wasn't able to hire them. My issue is with their customer service. Wendell's Roofing & Remodeling came to my house to give me a quote for my roof. I asked for it in writing so that I could submit it to the insurance company. Seems simple and straight forward right? Wrong! After four attempts to get the quote with them promising me each and every time I would receive it by the end of the day I'm giving up. I just made my last attempt at calling them more out of annoyance than anything else and the gentleman on the other end of the phone told me that he's just the answering service. So a company that want's peoples business uses an answering service to answer their companies calls??? Apparently they are too busy and don't need the business. I wouldn't waste your time. There are plenty of reputable companies in the area with better reviews. read more

Very poor quality job(misaligned shingles, exposed nails on roof that needed caulked, split trim boards, gaps in drip edge). Promised to start in the early morning, they showed up at 4PM after hourly calls which assured me they were on the way, they were just helping Wendell(the foreman) with another job. Wendell never showed up to the actual job either. This was disappointing considering I took a day off of work. I had to work around Wendell's schedule to get him to review and fix substandard work, he even didn't show up to a 2 hour window he set up on the weekend. Still finding nails/shingle pieces in my garden very bad cleanup as well. Dumpster was left on my driveway over the weekend after a promise it would be removed the day I called. read more

I had my roof replaced September 2017 and paid in full when the job was complete. This week, I received a notice that a lien was placed on my house by the building material supplier. I called the supplier and was told the Wendell's Roofing did not pay them for the materials. I was unable to contact Wendell's because the phone is no longer in service and the e-mail address is not valid. read more

We had a quote of $200 for a job and when we contacted them for the THIRD time, it mysteriously increased to $350.

Paid these jokers $1500 to repair chimney flashing causing a roof leak in my living room. 6 months later it's still leaking and their phone is disconnected. read more

To start, I had several companies quote on tearing off and replacing a flat roof (that did not leak but was approximately 15 years old) and replace some flashing torn off by high winds. I was very disappointed in the workmanship and customer service from Wendell Roofing and Remodeling. Flashing replacement was not done as quoted / agreed upon, and I had concern with a patch in The middle of the new roof. It was extremely difficult to get the problems / concern corrected. Even getting someone (Wendell) out to inspect was an issue. The workmen that did come out to correct the flashing were rather nasty and upset about having to correct the problem. Before I could get a representative of Wendell Roofing to address my concerns, we had a heavy rain. The roof leaked and damaged the insulation, ceiling tiles and water poured into the house soaking he wall and carpeting. When I finally reached Wendell Davis (owner), he was "up north" and had no representative to come out and assess the damage. When Wendell did come out (Monday), he caulked the roof and indicated that the work performed by his company was wrong and they should have used a different edging. Since they didn't, he caulked the gap between the roof and the edging. The edging was placing over the top of the roof and water ran under the edging and into the house. In viewing the underside of the roof (after insulation & ceiling tiles were removed) it was apparent that the roofing sheathing I was charged $50 a sheet had not been used. One partial sheet was used although I was charged for 3. Subsequently I did not pay for the 3 sheets but now have old wood that should have been replaced. I now have pooling of water although I have not noticed any leaks. I was offered a $591 refund with the stipulation "for wood, insulation & tile damage - owner releases Wendell of any issues or damage or warranty upon acceptance of refund". Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend Wendell Roofing and Remodeling. read more

Wendell's quoted a skylight replacement for us, cashed our deposit then 3 weeks later told us they miss quoted and wanted more money. These guys bait and switch! If we had agreed to the added cost they would have been the highest quote, which they say they will give $100 if they don't beat the competition, well no way would they pay, nor would they honor their quote. Beware. We'll look elsewhere! read more

I had a poor experience with my salesman. However, Jason at Wendell's, who is the trainer of their salesman, promptly called the next business day apologizing for the salesman behavior and doing everything he could to make it better. This helps put my faith back in the company. read more

I just needed a vent added to the roof and they were willing to come and do the job. It was done in a neat and timely manner. Would definitely call them again when I need any additional work. read more

I had Wendell's do my roof , gutters , attic insulation and resurface my deck back in June,2016. The job was finally completed correctly only because I hounded them and followed up on all the issues. Several follow up visits were required to get the job completed to satisfaction, and being overlooked / stood up for a scheduled visit was common place , but I soon learned that constant follow up was required. I called this year to get my yearly free and I was told the number was disconnected . So I decided to go down to the office to see for myself and there was no one there and court papers issued on 6-6-18 were taped to the front door. As someone already stated , so much for my lifetime labor warranty. I hope that Owens Corning will stand by their product if there is an issue down the road. I guess my research I did prior to letting the job, lead me to put my trust in them . Hopefully things will work out for everyone affected. C.J.M read more

I contacted Wendells Roofing in Sept 2017 for a siding repair job and provided a 50% deposit. I was told my job would be scheduled in 3-6 weeks which lands mid-late Oct 2017. November 2017 comes and I contact the company regarding my scheduled date and I'm told I'm on schedule for the upcoming Friday. Friday comes....no call, no show, nothing. I call Wendells and I'm told the crew got behind on a project. Next week comes, nothing, following week nothing...I go up to Wendells to find out whats going on, and I'm told my project is now being handled by Wendell personally and he will call...of course that never happens. The holiday season starts and now Wendells is closed for, "the season and inventory". I callback on the date the company is to reopen and I experience the same....nothing. As of today after reading other reviews, the website is down and the phone number is no longer working. I've called my cc company to request a dispute and suggest others do the same. I am also filing a complaint with the BBB and hope others do the same. To bad I wasn't able to get up there in time to get a video and call Fox 2 Problem Solvers. And FYI this company deserves a ZERO. read more
