Indoor swings
Cynthia D.

How fortunate we were to stubble across this place on our last day in Sorrento. We were killing time before heading out to the airport so went in to see if we could sit down, have a coffee & maybe a cheeky pastry. We got 4 pastries. Well the were so good. And the coffees were spot on too. Their ice-creams looked amazing as well. Decor was really cute & my daughters loved the indoor swings.

Very friendly staff with great sense of humor. Gelato was very creamy and yummy. Price was right. And they have swings. Apparently they knew gelato tastes better on swings, lol!

This place is super cute! It has that whole modern rustic thing going on. There was even 3 wooden swings inside! They had some really cool ice cream bars available as well. 2 scoops of Gelato was 3 euros here, where everywhere else we visited in Sorrento it was 2.50 euros. The gelato was okay. They had a few flavors to choose from. It seems they make the gelato here because they have a room you can see into with a big machine. It got kind of loud after a bunch of people who seemed to know the owner came in and basically took over the place. They had some outdoor seating as well. Staff was so-so.

Cappuccino! Great on a cold rainy day

The special coffee menu is really special. The pistachio and nutella gelato made a great mix. Loved the decor and the vibe.

Booked via the Fork for ease and while it may seem like a more tourist-y spot (in the sense that…read morethe leads are always inviting folks walking by in to view the menu)...Naima is LEGIT. We wanted seafood because when in Sorrento...why not opt for super fresh seafood right by the coast?! Our server recommended a really delicious local red that was super reasonably priced and we enjoyed with said red: For Primi -- *Gnocchi alla sorrentina (Sorrento-style Gnocchi): I mean...we kinda had to get a regional specialty right? Gnocchi here is potato based instead. It was SO delicious - still perfect texture. They also served this HOT HOT HOT with melty cheese. So delicious and a really generous portion!! *Spaghettoni alle vongole (Pasta with Clams): Another favorite for us in general so figured a really fresh version could be stellar and it didn't disappoint! This slightly edged out the gnocchi for me flavor-wise, but the gnocchi was dang good so it just goes to show how DELISH this was!!! For Secondi -- *Grigliata mista di pesce (mixed grilled fish - this was an incredible plate of such fresh seafood. There was various fish, a giant prawn, octopus alll grilled & seasoned to perfection! *Swordfish special! -- apparently it was swordfish season and it was a 'fresh catch' and I feel like you could tell! Really lovely and nicely seasoned. Portions were very generous & we were way too full for dessert at this point! So you could probably eat more "American" style here (Just 1 entree instead of our approach), but the menu here is pretty stellar!!!

Saw Naima on Yelp and figured it was worth a shot. Restaurant is modern, with bright decor. Waiter…read morewas working hard! He also helped with recommendations. I had been bit by a crab a number of times at Amalfi earlier in the day. I decided to return the favor and had the excellent crab with squid ink pasta. I will say that the crab was a lot of work, it was also a delicious crab. The squid ink pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Added a second course of a local fish with cherry tomatoes, also delicious. Family enjoyed their dinner as well.

Or to enjoy a glass of wine while watching all the people coming and going. I passed by so many times as this was on the path between my hotel and the shopping area, east of the Piazza Tasso, I finally decided to stop and give my feet a rest. Surprisingly affordable for a bar in the heart of Sorrento, I had a glass of red wine and opted for veal scaloppini for a late afternoon meal. The veal was very thin and quickly pan fried with a lovely lemony sauce balanced by briney capers. It was delicious and a welcomed reprieve from all the pasta I had been eating since I arrived. Others around me were enjoying pizza, pasta and gelato on a bright, sunny, 80 degree day in October. Sitting here surrounded by the incredible architecture of the buildings in this square was a quintessential Sorrento experience.

There are basically three different types of eating establishments to choose from in Italy. A…read moreRistorante, a Bar, or a pizzeria. A pizzeria is what it is. Specializes in pizza but also makes other entrees as well. A Ristorante which is a little more up scale with the waiters in tuxedos, table clothes, and fancy silverware. But my favorite of the places to eat are the Bars. Bars in Italy aren't like what you typically think of a bar in the States. They are restaurants but usually half the price of the "Ristorantes". Chances are the food will be just as good but served in a more casual environment. Which brings me to one of my favorite places to eat in Sorrento, Bar del Carmine. Since being in here we have eaten here a couple times, here's a few things we've order: Tuna salad and chicken salads: both are great. I'd order it everytime I come to Carmine's. Very fresh, a nice combination of flavors, meat, bell peppers, fresh mozzarella, corn, onions, olives, articoke hearts, and carrots. They don't serve any Thousand Island, Ranch, or Italian dressing out here. There's only one choice which is delicious, olive oil and Vino Blanco. Cheeseburger: not anything like the American Standard for a burger but still good. Small patty, the main focus is mozzarella and the tomatoes. So if you are expecting an In & Out burger, ForgetAboutIt... Pizza: only thing bad at Bar del Carmine is the pizza. Probably the worst pizza I have eaten in Italy. But pizza should be from the pizzeria anyway. Service is always good. Prices much more reasonable. Comfortable and casual with great people watching being that it is located in the center of Piazzo Tasso.
