The price on the web was much lower than when we got to the pump. The pumps are WAY TOO SLOW!!!!! It took about 20+ minutes to pump 16 gallons. Only prepackaged snacks available. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CHEVRON! read more

We came in off Hwy 80 with smoking brakes towing a 40' trailer. They stopped what they were doing. Figured out our problem and got us back on the road. Very reasonable too! read more

We stopped in Wells to get gas, and noticed that our entire tire was missing on our travel trailer. The owner and an employee pulled up beside us and had us come here get it fixed. He had an almost new tire and rim for us, for a great price. They drove me around to purchase parts, and let me help them make repairs. I got out of there for $150. I am so thankful for everyone there making my misfortune manageable. read more

Totally trying to rip off customers. On 2/9/14, I drove down the highway off-ramp that has this station and a few others. The main sign listing the gas price at this station is not lit up. There is another sign that lists $2.19, a few cents cheaper than the other gas stations at this location. I go the pump, start pumping, and notice that the price is going up really fast. I stop the pump, and realize they are charging me $3.99/gallon for the regular stuff, A WHOLE $1.70/gallon MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE OTHER STATIONS. I went inside and asked them if there was a computer glitch, and said it cost $1.70/gallon more than other folks, and they said "Oh, OK." That was it. Nothing else. I walked back outside, looked again at the sign that said $2.19, and noticed a tiny sign under that that said "Propane." Totally fraud- hoping the driver it tired or distracted enough not to notice the "Propane" sign, and get suckered in. Avoid at all costs. read more

On July 14, 212 we stopped at the Sundance Shell Station to get gas. I completely agree with the other Yelpers. Ditto on the bait and switch tire scam. We almost fell for it. While filling our RAV4 up, a service man comes and cleans our windows. I'm first thinking, "how nice". Then the goes to our back tire. He tells us it's in bad shape and for $20 he'll put it on their lift and swap it for our full-sized spare on the back. (They will look for any flaw and convince you it's bigger than it is.) I had our vehicle serviced and tires inspected a few months prior to our trip. They told me our tires would be just fine to go on our long trip. We planned on getting new ones before winter... so I knew they weren't perfect, but in good condition for our trip. So, they have us up on the lift. He then starts going on about how all our tires are in really, really bad shape, and it would be dangerous to drive. He even brings in another guy to confirm his "findings'. By this time, my husband got the cues that this was a scam. He told them to get our car down and we'd take our chances. Then they got more aggressive, but my husband was persistent and got our car off the lift. As we drove away, I got my phone out and Yelped them only to see they have been doing this for some time. Be warned, stay clear of these scammers! read more

Great People! Came in trying to get in front of a snow storm on my way to california. Craig hustled and got me a great deal on tires cheaper than others in town and faster. He also did a oil change and replaced my headlights and high beams at no cost since I had the bulbs. The owner came in and introduced himself and rang me up. It was nice to have interaction with the owner . I will come back when I pass through! Overall it was a great experience read more

Nov 2013, I arrived into Wells for gas. Prominent sign at the Shell Station showing $3.45 was 4 cents lower than the other Wells stations. I filled up. Then I noticed the total seemed quite high. Sure enough, the Shell station is charging nearly $1 more per gallon. I asked for a partial refund, but it was clear the employees know the routine. They said the 3.45 sign was for propane, but there were no other signs identifying any other fuel price. I alerted arriving motorists to the discrepancy, and all went to another station. The owner arrived, toxic and belligerent, said it's "free enterprise." I told him to stop misleading the elderly, which was met with more belligerence. He clearly takes pleasure in his corrupt practice. read more

Different ownership! Don't let the bad review average dissuade you from giving this place a chance if you have tire needs. These are some long dusty highways out here and can leave you feeling quite vulnerable. The staff here is a breath of fresh air trying very hard to meet your needs fairly. We live in a converted old transport bus and frequently have difficulty finding used tires. This place was able to hook us up with four affordably (not the cheapest that we have found but fair). It's located immediately next-door to a Quiznos which gave a very comfortable waiting spot. Can't recommend them highly enough and we have done many laps around this country. If you're lucky you might even get to meet the little dachshunds that seem to believe that they run the place. read more

Wells Tire Chevron - Here's our old bus that needed some used tires - Tires Near Me - Wells, Nevada

We were on a spring break road trip in our Sprinter RV. One of the tires wasn't holding air. We'd gone to multiple places along the way but no one could help us. In desperation, we pulled off in Wells and looked for a "tires" sign. The Chevron tire shop was closed. It was Sunday and they'd gone home for the night. Someone called them. They came back, fixed the tire and were extremely gracious about it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! read more

We turned off highway 93 onto 80 west bound when a guy pulled up next to me motioning and pointing at the trailer. I pulled over to inspect the trailer. The induvial also pulled over. He then told me that the axles on the trailer were oscillating back and forth. He looked under the trailer and said the leaf spring equalizer was worn. He said follow him to the Chevron station and they could fix it. Arriving at the station a person was waiting for me motioning me to back the trailer next to the building. He immediately started to jack up the trailer without giving an estimate or evening asking if I wanted it repaired. After trying to remove the lug nuts on the rims using 3 different battered impact wrenches he finally removed the tires. He then removed the equalizer and told me it was worn out. Now I have a background in mechanics and noticed immediately there was noting wrong. The bushings looked good along with the shackle bolts. I asked the cost for the repair and he said he would only charge $150.00 for labor but the parts would cost $1158.00. The parts he showed me sells for $189.00. I told him no way and to reassemble the equalizer and lead springs. While doing so he started to leave one of the bushings out and brought it to his attention. I asked the person who motioned me over, how could you tell the equalizer was bad with the weight on the trailer on the suspension? He response was it was crooked. Yea right! I asked what I owed him and he said "whatever you think boss". Flipped him a 20 and said nice try. This place is a fraud run by tweakers. My advice if someone around Wells NV pulls up next to you waving his arms and motioning to your trailer, step down on the gas and wave bye bye. read more

I think not. For the reason being is that I live there locally and all they want to do is push the locals away and get business from people that are traveling threw of their business. I have been dealing with them for over a year and all they can do is push me aside to get other business. They think that I have no say at all when actually all i have heard is that i am not the only one that is treated like this. I will never deal with them again. They do not realize that they need to depend on the local business just as much as people passing threw during summer and the winter months. Especially during the winter months for the local business and all they can do is push me away for 8 months. read more

These guys are huge frauds. Charged me 500 dollars to replace two tires when I broke down driving into California. I had no choice but to use these guys. Well first off went here due to a tire blowout on our trailer so we pulled in to get them changed and get a new wheel as well. My husband went inside and no one was inside so he proceeds to go to the gas station next door to ask if they knew if the tire shop was open. The nice woman behind the counter called the gentleman and he answered and stated he would be there in 10 min got there in about 20 no biggie. We saw him come up so we went ahead and went back inside to wait for him. My husband saw him outside and he was looking around we thought maybe he was looking for us since he knew someone was waiting so husband got his attention and let him know we we're here. He said just wait a minute and rushed into the gas station then grabbed some coffee and came right back outside and then proceeded to meet us inside to talk about the trailer. Before we even told him what we needed he said it was gonna be at least 30 min before he could see it since he was short staffed again no biggie then my husband told him what was going on and he hurriedly got on the phone made a phone call and walked outside. He then comes inside real quick (still on the phone) asks us to back the trailer up to one of the stalls and as my husband is doing so he then Gave my husband instructions to move so another vehicle could pull out and my husband politely asked where he wanted my husband to move to. The gentleman then proceeded to yell at my husband to just wait a f***ing second. We then decided to go across the street and got the most amazing service ever. But I must say the lady in the gas station was incredibly nice and sweet read more

I also received the con approach as my girlfriend and I were in the convenience store, I was approached being told my back tires were not safe. The man offered to put on my spare, and kept spitting out information about blow outs in the rear killing people and how thin the rubber on tires are. I felt unsafe driving to San Fransisco that night, and the cherry on top was him telling me if he had a girl "so pretty" he wouldn't risk her life. The price came out to, 383.88 for 2 tires. I fueled up here on my way to Reno, NV. the gas station attendant took one look at my tires and put his gauge on it without asking. He told my my tire pressure was 12psi. I said that can't be right because I filled it to 32psi (Full load rating for the car, has pressures listed for half and full load.) that morning. So I pulled out my high quality calibrated digital gauge and it read 35.5psi. (heat from driving) He first says my gauge must be wrong, so I got out my analog gauge and it shows the same as the digital. He then admitted that his gauge shows the same, then he says with how my tires are sitting that I need new tires, which the tires are brand new.. The tires are just fine, most of the weight on this car is on the front end, he then says he has 2 of the same car and asks me to race him. I don't race, he pressured me hard to race. This company is criminal and should be avoided at all costs. I needed new tires there is no doubt but they sold be 4 lite truck tires for over $1200 that should have only cost $860. Joe also told me the trailer I was pulling needed new tires and so they sold me some "lightly" used tires for $250 that ended up exploding just a couple hundred miles later going 45 mph. It turns out the tires were over 10 years old. When I called back to see if they were willing to do anything George (the manager) said the used tires they sell come without any warranty (fair enough even though it is criminal for them to sell 10 year old tires that are dangerous) and that the reason the truck tires cost so much is that they have higher shipping costs due to their remote location. I asked, "Your telling me that your remote location on the trucking super highway of I-80 adds almost $400 to the cost of a set of tires?" They said yes! This business is open on sundays and they said les scwhab was closed which is true, however when I called les scwhab later in the week they told me that they will sell tires on a sunday but they have a $90 additional fee for sunday service. I also heard from the les schwab employee that is married to a law enforcement officer in Wells that he has been called to this business several times to do a civil standbye in order to get peoples cars off the lifts! read more

On Mar 24 I was travelling to Laughlin when I was approached by an attendent and told my back tire was low and he would check it. I was told it was only 24 lbs. pressure and my tires were totally unsafe. I had them checked in Jan and was told they would be fine until the fall. This person continued to insist they were totally unsafe so I agreed to get 4 new tires but insisted on snow tires. He put 4 tires on my RAV and charged me $1,424.48. I was suspicious so I got a quote from Bullhead City. These tires should only have been $725.71 and to top it all off they arent even snow tires so I still will have to buy snow tires. This station has an F rating with the BBB and many outstanding complaints. I have filed a complaint with the Sherriffs office and have been in touch with an investigator. 10/10/13 Stopped for gas at $3.499 per gal. Pumped 16.286 gals. Total price $70.01. Exactly 80 cents per gal higher. Mentioned seeing snow in the mountains. He told me that I couldn't get thru Donner pass without cables. Inquired as to price. After Call??????????? he quoted $149.95. I asked how far to pass and he quoted 2 hours. Per map quest its 5 hours and around 360 miles. Total LIAR. He was way to helpful when I stopped. Was towing a car so I waited to get to first pump so I could make a gradual turn away from pump. He come out and directed me around the building and to the first pump. That's when he took my credit card and inserted into pump. Told him I used regular but obviously he either rigged pump or had mis-quote of price on sign. Filed complaint with Nevada DOT and to Shell. Inquired on internet about price of the cables. $73-$85 depending on Good-Better-Best. His price--RIP OFF. Per Shell info the owners name is MIKE HEATH. Glad this Dirt Bag is not in Indiana. This place is nothing but a scam. The gas is much higher than anyplace in Nevada--much less just Wells. Yes, we were tired and road stressed and as a result dazed and confused. We saw their sign for gas (which was actually for propane)--that's what brought us in...and yes, we filled up before we realized how high it actually was... But, that wasn't the worst. We fell for their "You won't make it down the road, Aren't you glad we saw the problem with your suspension" ploy. The unwritten estimate they gave us was exorbitant. The final bill twice that. After doing some research we realize that we paid 10 times the going rate for the same repair. Stupid? Maybe. Trusting. Yes. But, angry, now, too. They prey on the ignorant and trusting. If you have receipts and/or parts, email me: wellsripoffrepairs@yahoo.com. These people can be legally stopped. And maybe they will burn in hell too~ read more

On July 28, 2011, we stopped to purchase gas at this service station aka The Wells Tire Company. We were on our way to the Grand Tetons. One of the two attendants said that he was concerned that our rear tires were in bad shape and offered a further inspection on the rack. He then proceeded to tell us that the rear tires were dangerous and needed to be replaced; he also said that perhaps the front tires could use replacement, because "it's much better to have 4 matched tires". The quoted price for 2 new mid-quality tires was a little over $400. The attendants' talk about safety and the "inspection" of the tires did not ring true, so we said we'd think it over while we camped for the night nearby and we left. After talking about it and looking at our tires again ourselves, we decided they were trying to rip us off. Today, after over 3,500 more miles, we had our tires checked in our home town and were told we had many more good miles to go on them. We reported this business to the Better Business Bureau which told us that they'd had 16 complaints for this business in the last 3 years. We wonder how many people have been convinced by Sundance Shell to buy tires they do not need and didn't know to complain. read more

9/29/2013 - We pulled up to the convenience store next to Wells Tires. A man from Wells Tires followed me into the store and asked if that was my vehicle parked outside. "The tires are bad, we can put it on the rack for no charge and check them out." We were concerned and far from home. They put my Yukon on the rack. Fortunately the person I was traveling with is very knowledgeable about cars / tires. I did in fact need two rear tires. Maybe I could have made it home safely......maybe not, I didn't want to take the risk. The man in charge of Wells Tires was very aggressive and down right nasty while we were trying to discuss what to do. My friend tried to ask questions about the tires and he said, " Who owns this car?" His counterpart tried to bully me into replacing the front as well. I agreed to purchase two rear tires for the price of $284 a piece which was supposed to include everything but the taxes and fees. When they wrote up the paper work they tried to charge me an additional $110. The nasty man did admit that he said the $284 for each tire was supposed to include balancing and installation. When I returned home I went to Wheel Works and purchased tires for the front. $474, this included two new tires with a warranty, alignment, new stud and 5 lug nuts. I can't believe Shell hasn't taken away their franchise! We drive from Boise to L.A., through Wells, about once a year. They tried the tire scam on my husband, trying to convince him that he had a bum tire that needed to be replaced immediately. He decided to take a chance and drive on it anyway, and had the tires checked when he got back to Boise...and of course, there was nothing wrong with any of them. We didn't think anything of it at the time, but the following year, when we pulled in for gas, we were shocked to hear the same line being used on a young couple filling up next to us. When the attendant walked away, we warned them of what appeared to be a scam. Then this year, it just happened again. They tried to scam some poor young woman who was looking so worried and upset after they talked to her...my husband overheard and told her there was nothing wrong with her tire, and it was a scam. That caused me to check online if there were other complaints, and lo and behold...dozens of them! Beware! read more

We stopped for gas and a man came out and said our tire was bad. Upon further inspection and a discussion and photo to our dealer, we discovered it really was bad. We asked the Shell station to replace it and he said we would need 4 tires, not 1 because of the kind of car. The price quoted was $4242.00 installed which included overnight delivery. Wow! But, we were stuck and no one in town had our tires, so we prepaid the bill and checked into a local hotel. The owner of the hotel said the Shell owner was very dishonest and we should be careful. At dinner that evening, the restaurant staff told us the Shell owner was dishonest and we should go elsewhere. But, we were stuck since we had already prepaid to order the tires. The next morning at 8:50 a.m., we got a call from Joe at the Shell station telling us there had been a mistake and our tires would not arrive as scheduled and it would be another day. BUT, if we paid $1000 more, he would drive to Reno and get the tires. Since they did not live up to the terms of the contract, we elected not to take the new delivery date and cancelled the order over his protest and went to another dealer in town. They "hot shotted" the tires from Salt Lake City at a total cost of $3200 and we were on our way in 5 hours. DO NOT deal with this Shell station. I have reported them to Shell, but so far have had no response. These people at this station are dishonest and greedy. He was already making an enormous profit on the tires, but couldn't resist extorting more money from us. There are other great people in Wells, NV. Do business with them. read more
