Now, if you want to get in and out, this is the place for you. I had a lab appointment at the Cedar Park VA clinic yesterday...got there at zero dark thirty...and was 37th in line. That's right, I said 37th at the crack of dawn. Nonetheless, the digital "now serving" display kept ticking away at a surprisingly fast click, and they had taken my blood in under 10 minutes, and I was given sweet treats on my way out the door. Just pay attention to the commands they bark at you, do what you're told, and you'll be on your way. Ah, just like being active duty again...

We booked a virtual appointment because my 20 month old Gavin had a fever and we were worried. She told us she wanted to do some test so come down after four and we wouldn't have to wait in the waiting room. She would come down to the car. Her and her nurse didn't have to do that... plus we got an appointment the same day. Turns out he has strep. Dr Elledge has always listened to us and our concerns and has never rushed me and always takes her time and is so wonderful. She is for sure going to be the third babies dr and she is also mine. I utilized Ministering Physicians as my 87-year old Mother's Primary Care Provider. They came…read morehighly recommended from a friend who utilized them as their PCP for their aging parent. All preliminary contact and sharing of information gave me the initial confidence of a well run practice. However, approximately two-months into them overseeing my Mother's medical care, I have to confess this has been one of the most discouraging patient-medical practice relationships I have experienced. Most of my concerns "appear" to stem from the operations of the clinical and office support staff. I don't know exactly where their operational breakdowns have occurred, as getting any communication and/or response from the office (to include the Medical Director) has been difficult at best. In defense of the Physician who examined my Mother, I was most pleased with his examination and subsequent medical recommendations made regarding my Mother's medical needs. However, every other element of the Practice failed. Communication and follow-through within the Practice is abysmal. The Practice did not follow-up on the Physician's Orders on medication removal or additions from her appointment with either myself or my Mother's senior living facility. This has put my Mother's overall health and safety at risk. In conclusion, I was very encouraged by the Physician's interest and assessment in providing my Mother with the best possible care. However, from an outcome based perspective, regardless of how credible the Physician might be, if those assessments and Orders don't get communicated to those entities implementing the actual care to the patient, the Physician's competency is academic. Hopefully, my experience is an anomaly, but tread with caution and ensure you do your due diligence in monitoring the full operation. Check and double-check that all encounter decisions are actually implemented.

I have gone through periods of being uninsured and his staff has gone to great lengths to insure that my medical needs are met. He is a doctor that listens and takes time with his patients. I love the fact that he doesn't belong to a giant clinic. Recently, I had to take my daughter to another clinic because the insurance company she is on prefers that clinic. The doctor there sent her home without thoroughly checking her with a "wait and see" approach. She was very sick and had missed too much school so I paid out of pocket and took her to Dr Caterbone. He ran a couple of tests that found she had a pretty serious illness. I appreciate his thoroughness.

Anyway, Dr. Caterbone didn't bring my chart in on my first visit. Awesome, I say! He listened to me, he read my chart before he walked in. He put the chart down so he wasn't tempted to just look at it and hardly look at me like most docs do these days. His approach was wholistic. He gave me a rx for a simple ailment that worked just like I needed it to. And I have another chronic illness that you either medicate (like most of the population) or work on it with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. He actually told me to try to work on it without drugs! He gave me some sound information and I'm completely impressed. I'm so glad he's not a drug-pusher! How often do you hear that, really? Did you know that drug reps give doctors incentives to prescribe their medications? So obviously Dr. Caterbone isn't only out for his pocketbook. Yeah, the other reviewer so far is on crack. Don't listen to her.
