I understand that everyone has a job to do, and I respect that. However, I believe those working directly with patients and visitors should approach their interactions with professionalism, patience, and empathy. Unfortunately, my experience with Mrs. Theresa was quite different. When I attempted to explain my situation and ask a question, she did not allow me to fully explain and repeatedly spoke over me. When she did respond, her answers did not address the questions I was asking. I was ultimately told to go ask the ladies at the Emergency Department check-in desk, which really was not their job. What was most disappointing was the manner in which I was treated. Her tone and demeanor came across as dismissive and rude, and I felt as though I was being ignored rather than assisted. I have visited this hospital many times and have never experienced this type of interaction at the front desk or with the hospital staff. I am sharing this feedback because I believe visitor information is an important first point of contact for patients and families. A simple smile, a little patience, and a willingness to listen can make a significant difference, especially when someone is already dealing with a stressful situation. I hope this interaction can be addressed appropriately and that staff are reminded of the importance of treating every visitor with courtesy, professionalism, and empathy. My overall experience at the hospital was positive, which is why I was especially disappointed by this one interaction.

Before my visit, I carefully reviewed the clinic's website, which stated that the facility could assist with neck pain. Based on that information, I expected evaluation and treatment options beyond over-the-counter medication. During the intake process and throughout my visit, I clearly communicated that over-the-counter medications were not providing relief. Despite this, the care I received was limited to a recommendation for Tylenol. I was left feeling that the services available did not match the expectations set by the clinic's online information regarding treatment for neck pain. It is disappointing when patients in genuine pain are directed by an urgent care clinic to "go to an Emergency Room, even though I'm standing in what I thought was one....particularly when the apparent KNOWN limitations are not clearly communicated upfront. I share this feedback as a recent patient who had a negative experience so that the practice can hopefully better align its advertised services with the actual care provided. I hope this input is received constructively. Honest patient feedback is protected under consumer protection laws, and I trust there will be no form of retaliation for sharing my experience.

They are not connected to the BSW system and apparently have not undergone training either. We went to this NextCare Urgent Care facility (Palm Valley and Sunrise in Round Rock) believing we were going to a BSW facility. Service was not up to BSW standards. The receptionist (blue hair streaks) was not friendly or helpful. Kept making me get up to answer questions. There was another person at reception who noticed I was having trouble breathing and walking. At least she walked over to me to sign forms and offered water. The blue hair streaks was better at staying seated and calling me to her. Why she couldn't get all the information on the first go is a mystery. The doctor was nice but not competent. When I failed to get better, I went to a REAL BSW urgent care, the doctor confirmed I was not given the correct prescription. Luckily, I had the forethought to bring the printout from NextCare that summarized the x-ray findings. Thankfully, I started getting better with the right prescription and dosage. I got a bill from NextCare. Just adds insult to injury, so to speak. I would avoid ANY NextCare facility even if Baylor, Scott & White is emblazoned everywhere. It won't be up to BSW standards, at least not for now.

Well, a few days before my visit I called the office to confirm my appointment and the staff member tells me your appointment is scheduled for April 2023. Who schedules their annual physical a year in advance? When I told the staff the scheduler obviously made a mistake they were able to fit me in for the following week due to a cancellation. Of course, I decided to confirm my appointment a day in advance, especially after my last incident, at which point the staff mentions that Dr Howerton is out of town and that I would be seen by the nurse practitioner instead. I was relieved that despite yet another oversight by this medical office that my health care needs were finally addressed. Fast forward to today, I had a virtual visit scheduled at 7:45 AM with Dr Howerton due to some recent health concerns. The online reminder email told me to sign in 15 minutes prior so I did as suggested. Promptly at 7:45 AM I logged into the tele-health call and waited until 8:00 AM and Dr. Lena Howerton was a no-show. Obviously this institution and its staff has no regard for their patients' time or well-being for that matter.

I usually see him (98%) of the time as he is considered my personal physician and I will follow him anywhere if he were to ever leave; his manner is exceptional and he has literally saved my life several times in the 10+ years that he has been my doctor. There have been a few times when he has been on vacation that I have had to see other doctors and they have been great. Recently Dr. April Calderone, whom we've just met, really stood out with her professionalism and thoroughness and excellent demeanor as well. I have had to have several surgeries in the recent years which have been done through the Scott & White system and my health has improved DRAMATICALLY because of it - in fact two of the surgeries were life-threatening AND I will say that I would not be here would it not be for what they've done for me. The service has been phenomenal. ALL OF IT from admissions to discharge. Plus, I've been seen by several different major specialty departments: Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Podiatry, Psychology, Neurosurgery, Microsurgery, Spinal, Pain Management and Audiology/ENT. I highly recommend Scott & White Hospital System and especially for a clinic, the staff, reception, nurses and doctors at the Scot & White Round Rock West Clinic. They are TOPS in their field.

You will receive bills incorrectly stating you were admitted and discharged at their hospital facility for blood work and see hospital facility fees just for seeing your doctor at their clinics (see included photo). They will claim they include all this in their fine print that you have to sign in order to be seen, but when asked to see the actual language, you won't hear back from their billing department for weeks. This was my first and will be my last experience with them and I am letting every single person I know and that I can reach to never do business with them.
