I am in my 40s now: I went from barely being able to stand long enough to make it thru two 6hr shifts a week, to randomly becoming an adult gymnast who actually leaps and spins on the balance beam. Like what?! I have NEVER been in better shape from my blood labs to physique. I do better at work, too! Everyone at the office from the receptionists to the medical assistants are kind and caring. Thank you for taking the time to respond.(Owner) I appreciate your acknowledgment and your explanation regarding the 10-minute grace period. However, I believe my concern goes far beyond the policy itself. It is about fairness, empathy, and the overall patient experience. Patients are routinely expected to be understanding when physicians run behind schedule. On several occasions at this office, I have checked in on time only to wait anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours before being seen. Patients accept those delays because we recognize that emergencies happen and physicians sometimes fall behind. Why doesn't that same understanding extend to patients? On the morning of my appointment, I left home well in advance. I encountered severe thunderstorms, road closures, traffic diversions, and multiple accidents. After arriving at your parking lot, I spent more than 10 minutes driving around simply trying to find an available parking space. Had adequate parking been available, I would almost certainly have checked in within your stated grace period. Does the practice take situations such as severe weather, inadequate parking, and circumstances beyond a patient's control into consideration before cancelling an appointment that took six months to obtain? My greatest disappointment was not that I was asked to reschedule. It was the attitude of the front desk employee. There was no empathy, no willingness to listen, and no attempt to contact Dr. Zikusoka's clinical staff to determine whether I could still be accommodated. On previous visits, I have personally witnessed staff make those calls for other patients. Healthcare should be patient-centered from the moment a patient walks through the front door. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I continue to have the highest regard for Dr. Michelle Zikusoka. She is an outstanding cardiologist whose professionalism, compassion, and dedication are beyond question. My criticism remains directed solely at the front office staff and the way this situation was handled. I sincerely hope Austin Heart will consider applying the same patience, flexibility, and understanding to its patients that patients are expected to extend when the practice is running behind schedule. read more

Had a heart attack this year. Carlino and Crimmens are great cardiologists. Office staff has some problems .

Easy to find. Nice office. Staff very pleasant. Waiting room pleasant. Easy to get seen. Staff explained each step and what was happening next. I felt like a person not just another billing to insurance. read more

I called to get a RX ordered and medical records sent to my Primary Dr. and this was done in a very timely manner. The Lady who helped me was very courteous and helpful. read more

Dr.Carlino does not respond to any messages even for the test results he has ordered. They seem to want you to come back again and again to generate repeat business. You have to experience it to believe out how bad they are. read more

I'm surprised by the other reviews that say the staff is unfriendly and unresponsive to questions. I think they're great! they always return calls in a day or so (they are a ridiculously busy office) and they do have the mychart thing set up online so you can get your test results without waiting for a phone call. I've seen Drs. Carlino & Crimmins and they're both really reassuring and intelligent. even the nurses that come in and do your pre appointment stuff like vitals are sweet and the turnover must be low because I see the same people every time. if you need a place to get your heart checked out I highly recommend this office. read more

The doctors may or may not be fine, but the office staff is hideous. It must come down from the top, because literally nobody is friendly. They also seem to have a very hard time running an office properly. I had an appointment that had been made 3 months in advance and was switched to the nurse practitioner instead of the doctor for no reason. I will be looking elsewhere for heart care in the future. read more

While my visit was fine, their billing department is HORRIBLE. They took my driver's license to verify my name & address, never took a copay from me, but verified my insurance. 5 months later, I get a phone call from a MedCredit company saying they sent my copay to collections from my December visit. Come to find out they never changed my address when they looked at my driver's license. I never received any mail, phone call or email to let me know about my copay. Instead they just sent it to collections. If you go to Austin Heart, make sure to keep an eye on the billing situation, because they will make NO EFFORT to reach you. read more

My first visit with Dr. Carlino, I really liked the doctor. He was very informative and took his time to answer my questions. Very pleased with my visit. A few days later I ended up at ER. Called the office the next day to advise me on the next steps after my diagnosis at ER. I also left a message in mychart. Two days later, no response. I called and followed up to make sure my message reached the nurse. Another 3 days passed, no response. I called again and was able to reach the nurse. She scheduled me for echocardiogram and heart monitor. I went for my appointment to have the monitor put on. The office tells me I'm not scheduled. They are confused and trying to find someone to put the monitor on. After waiting 35 minutes I left the office. On the way back someone called me telling me they can mail the monitor. Too many red lights. I called another group and made appointment with another cardiologist. read more

I really like the doctor but... This practice cannot keep an appointment schedule. 3 weeks before a SCHEDULED appointment for my 90 year old mother they call to reschedule. This appointment was made MONTHS ago at her last appointment. It is not the first time this has happened. They wanted to schedule her out ANOTHER MONTH because they had no appointments open before that. The office manager found her an appointment with another practitioner after I insisted they get her in sooner than another month out. (Come on, she's 90!) Obviously, it doesn't matter WHEN her follow-up appointments are no matter what her doctor says. I don't have this issue with any other practice I deal with. read more

I was so nervous for my appointment not just because of Covid but just the unknown. I felt like it was clean and very safe. Only issue I had was being in waiting room with 4 others at the same time. However seats were marked for spacing and the wait wasn't long. Dr Zikusoka was quite possibly the nicest doctor I have ever encountered. Her nurse was very sweet as well. Dr Zikusoka took as much time as I needed to listen and understand my concerns. She is kind, gentle and highly knowledgeable. Explained things in a way I could understand. I just felt like she truly cared. I'm so glad to have found her. read more

I was a patient if Dr Carlino. I had seen him before getting pregnant with my third to make sure my valve function was not degraded. He claimed I would be fine trying for another baby. I was new to his practice and the area. In all my other pregnancies I had EKG's done regularly and was monitored prior to baby being born. But this guy refused to monitor my condition and they couldn't make time to see me before my scheduled c-section. I absolutely needed a EKG and Echo so another Dr at the round Rock location did it and said Dr Carlino over booked and dropped the ball. My valve function had degraded substantially and I was pre-eclamptic. Other Dr's saved my life and this office would have let me and the baby die. read more

Dr Carlino might be a fine doctor but, I didn't get a chance to find out. Their web site claims they accept new patients but, I called today(5/4) and couldn't get an appointment until mid August. If you are a new patient and want to see a doctor in less than 3 /12 months, I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Austin Heart in Cedar Park, has a super efficient office! Staff is very helpful and courteous. Dr. Carlino made me feel extremely comfortable at my visit taking the time to explain the different aspects of heart disease, and his initial plans to get to a full diagnosis. I unfortunately have hit the bad heart gene trifecta, I was immediately at ease with Dr Carlino's knowledge and professional manner. This was my first visit to a heart specialist and I am happy to say that it was a good one. Everyone in the office was very friendly and professional. Dr. Crimmins took his time in explaining everything and going over everything with me and also gave me time to ask questions, never once did I feel like I was being rushed.
