She is non-approachable and makes it very difficult to have a meaningful conversation. The students in the non-Mandarin immersion classes are also very behind academically, both in English and Math. The school does not provide sufficient support, or opportunity for kids to do well in their studies. Kids who excel academically will be held back at this school as there are no opportunities for them to further improve or shine. They are given movie time in class, where the kids watch movies/cartoons instead. Some of the teachers tend to give out homework for the sake of giving out homework. Most of the homework is meaningless, time-wasting, with no added value.

It feels weird to rate a school via Yelp lol. For educational purposes, please check other resources I have had young relatives attend this school with good teachers/ experiences Once I came about 10 minutes late to pick up my niece (miscommunication between 220pm versus 230pm ). They call the mom and me ; they had my niece wait by the office with staff and I had to sign in my info in order to take her home. It does show that they care a lot of their students safety. There's multiple playgrounds here for various ages, including the toddlers. My nieces love to play there and it's decently well kept (newer swings, no trash). Also has Large grassy areas too. I walk my dog here on leash so she can run around and play for a bit There's also a back area where there are tables and grill stations to host a picnic by the playgrounds on weekends. Basketball courts used to be open but I think they now close the gates (for safety? To protect the equipment?). Website https://brooktree.berryessa.k12.ca.us/

Spangler was also the person who helped bring modern sewers and clean water to Milpitas in the 1940s. Serving mainly the children in Starlite Manor and Milpitas Manor developments, it sits on a ten acre site near Starlite Park, the first neighborhood park in Milpitas. It is a K-6 school. All the kids in our family went here. Recently a lot has changed here with photo-voltaic panels over the parking area and lunch area. More portable classrooms are on the campus to house the over 600 students. The academic program is average for Milpitas. Their API scores are improving each year. Alas, there is little money to support music, drama, art, etc. This was the last of the district's elementary schools to approve wearing uniforms, so the nearby community probably has more independent thinkers than other schools may have. Spangler feeds to Thomas Russell Middle School.

Had a play date and decided to take the kids here because originally the plan was for them to play basketball; since the courts are suitable for their height (obviously much shorter than the actual courts), I figured this place is the perfect place to introduce my Daughter to the sport. I was in track, orchestra, played basketball, soccer, tetherball, dodgeball, kickball, and football throughout my wonderful 6 years here. My Daughter hasn't really shown much interests in sports but I do hope she gets into one of the above mentioned activities. What I love about this school is the spacious play area.. the playground is of course new and way better than what it used to be a million years ago. The green board for 7-Up (the throwing the blue rubber ball or tennis ball at your ass) is still standing talk and well maintained (clean).. the field is well kept and I love the track for field day. I was always 1st place and the anchor for relay races.. nostalgic memory orgasm!!! There is enough sitting space, shade, and play area to satisfy the kids and ME while I witness them run back and forth, clearly enjoying the weather, the pleasant atmosphere, the cleanliness of the school overall, and the best years of my life all flashing back to me. I love this school.. go Leopards!!!!

Being a PTA Member and a School Site Council member it's only fitting I drop a review. Laneview hasn't changed much from the way you look at it but it has changed over the last 10 years. The school rating score has changed to an 8 from a 6 as it was in the past. This means the school is in an upper class for testing scores and education learning. These tests are done across the district and state. What drove this change was time with new leadership during that time. The school is in a 2nd year leader with a proven principal who is very compassion to students, staff and their learning. Pros: * Staff: They're great and i'm not being bias. When I tell others about the stuff they do I hear "I wish my school did that".. From the front office to teachers and others they're very caring * Scores: As mentioned above the school is an 8 for testing scores which is upper reserved compared to most others in Berryessa and/or San Jose. *Parents: Many volunteer daily, weekly and monthly. From the adult staff out in the walkways to ensure safety, to those helping out after school, PTA Functions/Meetings and School Site Council meetings. The Parents really make it up for a budget shortfall to help fund supplies for teachers/class, field trips, assemblies and others. With only 400/430 kids you'd think they're would be some 100+ Parents, nope. Core group of 20 in total who volunteer and attending meetings to help. THEY NEED MORE! Monthly PTA meetings are 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7-8pm on campus. Please come and attend. School Site council meetings are the hour before which is 6-7pm which is a listen in session with the principal to know more on the budget, lesson plans, etc. You can look up the PTA information from their facebook page "laneview pta" * Playground: The school got a facelift in the playground area with all new gear 2 years ago. The grounds are large for play area with plenty of field area. Off school hours they hose soccer games and others. Cons: * Funding: They don't get much. If it wasn't for being a Title 1 School they'd further behind. A Local measure a few years ago is helping out the the school is set for a mild remodel in classroom later next summer (2017). Solar panels just added. * Facility: Many of the rooms are needing some updates and scheduled to get later in 2017 summer.

The staff claimed there were behavioral issues and pushed for unnecessary testing that was never properly handled. Communication was poor--once I was told at 6am that my child couldn't attend school due to short staffing, even though there were only five kids in the class. From the very first time I ever enrolled my son, office staff has always shown a little bit of nonchalant rudeness. At times that I would need to go pick up my son early, or drop off lunch money, they're usually coherent but I never see any kind of smiles or friendliness. It's like ok, if you don't like working for or with kids, then why are you here? But today really upset me. I walked up to the office and it was "Drill " time. Some larger set woman yelled at me from the benches, "we're having a drill, you can't go in there". I walked closer to the group of women who apparently was the staff of Pomeroy, and asked if I could drop off money for my son's lunch because I'm on my way to work (which I would have been able to do in the office if it was open). The larger women said, "It's a drill, we can't". So in all defense I said "Well what am i supposed to do, leave my son with no money and let him starve? He needs lunch money" That is when this chunky Caucasian, red head looking woman stepped in and said "BY LAW---- BY LAW!! You can't leave this territory when we're in a drill." I'm just thinking in my head, #1 You didn't even answer my question-- all you care about is "laws", not the kids well-being/hungerness #2 Did I ever agree to trying leaving the site if there was a drill?? I literally was just there trying to drop off my son money for lunch. One thing for sure I know is true, this staff (or most) does not care about a child's interest. They are there for themselves. So petty.
