Named for a gas station owner, whose station still pumps gas at the corner of Main and Carlo, this is one of the oldest schools in Milpitas. Spangler was also the person who helped bring modern sewers and clean water to Milpitas in the 1940s.
Serving mainly the children in Starlite Manor and Milpitas Manor developments, it sits on a ten acre site near Starlite Park, the first neighborhood park in Milpitas.
It is a K-6 school. All the kids in our family went here.
Recently a lot has changed here with photo-voltaic panels over the parking area and lunch area. More portable classrooms are on the campus to house the over 600 students.
The academic program is average for Milpitas. Their API scores are improving each year. Alas, there is little money to support music, drama, art, etc.
This was the last of the district's elementary schools to approve wearing uniforms, so the nearby community probably has more independent thinkers than other schools may have.
