The school does not do any field trips because they do not want to go through with the hassle of renting school buses and cost ( I do not know where the money that has been made through fundraisers go, they raised around $10,000). They do not do kindergarten ceremonies or parties or anything special for them. The homework is not challenging or fun. They barely do any art activities. The curriculum is not engaging. Recently looked into every grade section in the open house and each class was so small and cluttered, they need a whole renovation. One third grade class looked like a man cave, not organized or professional. A school should not only be rated by their SATS or grades only, in needs to be the best experience in every aspect from the classrooms to the teachers to the playground.

Aside from the playground, during her school year at this school, it was nothing but pleasant experiences. The school office staff and teachers were all very nice and welcoming. During recess, you do not hear any loud scolding like what I witnessed millions of times at Toyon Elementary. I don't know what it is but the envirionment is just friendlier here. Across the street is Francis' daycare / afterschool care. The school knows and recommends this place. My daughter was dropped off here before school and was picked up by Francis afterschool. The school provided a very good and safe atmosphere for the kids and so did Francis. I wish my daughter still attends this school; her best friend Ally still attends and her Mom is active in the PTA. It would have been nice to join the PTA knowing a friendly face. I just don't get that good vibe at my daughter's current school now. Parking is horrible in the morning therefore I would use Francis in the mornings, haha.

Aahh.. memories…read more. My old stomping ground. I was a student here from grade K-5th! Had a play date and decided to take the kids here because originally the plan was for them to play basketball; since the courts are suitable for their height (obviously much shorter than the actual courts), I figured this place is the perfect place to introduce my Daughter to the sport. I was in track, orchestra, played basketball, soccer, tetherball, dodgeball, kickball, and football throughout my wonderful 6 years here. My Daughter hasn't really shown much interests in sports but I do hope she gets into one of the above mentioned activities. What I love about this school is the spacious play area.. the playground is of course new and way better than what it used to be a million years ago. The green board for 7-Up (the throwing the blue rubber ball or tennis ball at your ass) is still standing talk and well maintained (clean).. the field is well kept and I love the track for field day. I was always 1st place and the anchor for relay races.. nostalgic memory orgasm!!! There is enough sitting space, shade, and play area to satisfy the kids and ME while I witness them run back and forth, clearly enjoying the weather, the pleasant atmosphere, the cleanliness of the school overall, and the best years of my life all flashing back to me. Being a PTA Member and a School Site Council member it's only fitting I drop a review. Laneview hasn't changed much from the way you look at it but it has changed over the last 10 years. The school rating score has changed to an 8 from a 6 as it was in the past. This means the school is in an upper class for testing scores and education learning. These tests are done across the district and state. What drove this change was time with new leadership during that time. The school is in a 2nd year leader with a proven principal who is very compassion to students, staff and their learning. Pros: * Staff: They're great and i'm not being bias. When I tell others about the stuff they do I hear "I wish my school did that".. From the front office to teachers and others they're very caring * Scores: As mentioned above the school is an 8 for testing scores which is upper reserved compared to most others in Berryessa and/or San Jose. *Parents: Many volunteer daily, weekly and monthly. From the adult staff out in the walkways to ensure safety, to those helping out after school, PTA Functions/Meetings and School Site Council meetings. The Parents really make it up for a budget shortfall to help fund supplies for teachers/class, field trips, assemblies and others. With only 400/430 kids you'd think they're would be some 100+ Parents, nope. Core group of 20 in total who volunteer and attending meetings to help. THEY NEED MORE! Monthly PTA meetings are 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7-8pm on campus. Please come and attend. School Site council meetings are the hour before which is 6-7pm which is a listen in session with the principal to know more on the budget, lesson plans, etc. You can look up the PTA information from their facebook page "laneview pta" * Playground: The school got a facelift in the playground area with all new gear 2 years ago. The grounds are large for play area with plenty of field area. Off school hours they hose soccer games and others. Cons: * Funding: They don't get much. If it wasn't for being a Title 1 School they'd further behind. A Local measure a few years ago is helping out the the school is set for a mild remodel in classroom later next summer (2017). Solar panels just added. * Facility: Many of the rooms are needing some updates and scheduled to get later in 2017 summer.

The staff claimed there were behavioral issues and pushed for unnecessary testing that was never properly handled. Communication was poor--once I was told at 6am that my child couldn't attend school due to short staffing, even though there were only five kids in the class. The worst part was the lack of action around discrimination. After a classmate made a racially insensitive comment to my child, the school failed to address it appropriately. I withdrew my child, and it was the best decision I made.

Actually, my brother's old 4th grade teacher lived on our street! I loved it here so much that I was President of the 6th grade. I didn't do much except make announcements on the intercom, but it felt really cool to be able to say I was president, haha :p My teachers for the most part definitely cared about their students, and made class fun. I think I got in trouble once because my friend, Austin (who I am still cool with now) dared me to kick him with my so-cool SODA platforms and so I did, and a teacher saw us, and we both had to sit in some 2nd grade class during recess for a week, HAHAHA Austin and I still laugh about that now. Actually, he lived on the same street as me too! Ahh, elementary school, how I miss the good old days.

Can you believe that! not to mention the principal at the time was very rude to myself and to other staff including parents! and I had to get my attorney involved! she than quickly shut-up and ignored me. But I think what I want to review the most is that other teachers are still scared to speak up about things. I was an rsed teacher at 3 of their San Jose schools, now I am a public school district employee and I belong to cta (california teachers association) and the benefits from my public school district are for more superior than anything that i had while working as a rocketship teacher. and by unionizing you can have more rights as public employees, because we all want the best. And the biggest benefit of belonging to a union is *tenure and job security. Just remember you cannot be fired for wanting to unionize. And this school and other San Jose RSED schools were threatening my freedom to speak and voice my concerns. anyhow while i was a teacher for rsed we were all sent an email from our ceo! about how *"unionizing prevents being able to accomplish our rocketship mission statement". i know now thats not true! what i was really being told was that the higher-ups didnt want me having a middle-man to protect me. its as simple as that. please know that i support what rocketship does for our children and their families! teaching at rsed were some of the best years of my teaching career. I fully support education but we are only human and we are all teachers who deserve protection, we all have the same goal and want only the best. but at the same time its important to think about our rights as public employees.

Not just academically but also when it comes to kindness, love, care, and character building for all the children modeled by teachers and staff. Even though it is not a religious school, I feel there are more love and compassion in this school more than any other religious place I've been to. Everyone, the principle, teachers, staff, students, fellow parents, all are so caring and making every member of the school feel so special and loved. Children need love! I feel so good dropping Jake's off each day at school and he loves going to school so much! Alexander keeps saying how come Jake's school is so cool and all Jake's teachers love him so much!! They also organize a lot of cool events. They want the children to be well rounded. The school relies heavily on staff and parent volunteers since it does not have much funding and it serves mostly low income students. Yet everyone serves with all their heart !! Still contemplating on moving Alexander over to Jake's school. ROMO with all our hearts!!

I think we got lucky to get into this school and so far we love it. The school is small and don't have much parking but the school create and organize really smart and convenient way for parents to drop off and pick up the kids. All the teachers are really nice and friendly. I get my answer back whenever I have concerns about my kid (through texts messages and in person). My kids are happy and improved everyday I can tell. I am proud and happy that my children are in a good environment and being successful.
