The summer following Kindergarten, she was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. On the recommendation from a coworker, we toured the Merryhill school. From the outset, we were impressed. The curriculum was on par with the other school, and the diversity of the experience was clearly wide ranging. Once the school year started it became even more clear that the principal was highly engaged with all the students, and that between her and the teachers, they would bend over backwards to assure that the accommodations necessary for my daughter were in place. Unlike my daughter's former school, we were able to work with her teachers to assure that through her school work and tests, she could demonstrate what she had learned, instead of putting her into a cookie-cutter educational system that tests in only one way and does not accommodate for her needs. As she has entered the third grade, we could not be more thrilled with the Merryhill experience and the staff at the school. My daughter has gone from hating school to not being able to get enough. Her grades continue to maintain at the highest level and she scored above her grade level in standardized testing. Her confidence in both her academics and her social interactions continues to grow. I sincerely believe this is in big part due to the efforts of the Merryhill staff. While every school and every environment is not for every student, parents should be doing their due diligence in assessing the most appropriate direction for their child. We are incredibly fortunate to have found Merryhill at a time during which we had numerous questions. A great big thank you to Merryhill Elementary School.

I went to this school from kindergarten through fifth grade and here are my thoughts. it's been…read moreyears since i've graduated but there's this thing that has been bugging me. when i went in to third grade, there was this thing during lunch called "silent time". we would have 15 minutes to talk to our friends while eating, then the last 15 minutes it NEEDED to be dead silent. we can't make eye contact or laugh with our friends if we wanted a full recess time. i get it the school wants children to focus on eating, but even if you're finished eating you can't even play rock paper scissors with your friends if you don't want to get in trouble. smile, not a full recess. what am i supposed to do when im finished eating, slump with my head down like a depressed child?? why couldn't i just be homeschooled if i didn't want to talk with my friends ?? Sure the education was pretty good until it came to the point where most of the good teachers left. i hope the new principal turns this school around.

My son was kicked out of school for 1 day because another kid misled him. He had to write an apology letter per the teacher's request. I am pleased with this because I want a school to be strict on discipline. If you are being late or bully other kids or misbehave, and no consequence is given, this is not good for the child. So I am glad my son learned the lesson early. 6) Extremely generous. They give generous financial aid, and I am very thankful 7) A lot of after-school enrichment program choices.

The classrooms are always clean and thoughtfully designed for little ones, which makes the environment welcoming and safe. While daily updates from teachers were more detailed in earlier programs, in Intermediate we still receive a nice rundown at pickup, which helps us stay connected with how the day went. The teachers here are truly the highlight. They are approachable, caring, and empathetic. My child often talks about Miss Ashley and Miss Rajani, and I can see the effort they put in every day. It's reassuring as a parent to feel that the children are in kind and capable hands. Most importantly, my child enjoys going to school and looks forward to meeting friends and teachers, which speaks volumes about the nurturing environment.

She told me a child needs to bite five consecutive days to be even considered for suspension. Come to find out that the aggressor was affiliated with the school and there were other undocumented aggressive behaviors. The principal straight up lied and had inept responses to my concerns. They now have a Type B citation, "a violation that, if not corrected, may an immediate risk to the health, safety or personal rights of clients" from the Department of Social Services. As a former childcare provider myself--at another Nobel Learning Communities school no less--it was extremely disappointing to see the incompetent leadership fail the amazing teachers and rupture family relationship on the ground. Oh and good luck at the next open house, because we waited since the night before at the advice of the principal and somehow they managed to be as disorganized as possible when they arrived in the morning and forced people to take a photo alongside those who got waitlisted?? Like what?? The sudden surge of 5 star reviews from burner accounts is also telling of their priorities.

Had a play date and decided to take the kids here because originally the plan was for them to play basketball; since the courts are suitable for their height (obviously much shorter than the actual courts), I figured this place is the perfect place to introduce my Daughter to the sport. I was in track, orchestra, played basketball, soccer, tetherball, dodgeball, kickball, and football throughout my wonderful 6 years here. My Daughter hasn't really shown much interests in sports but I do hope she gets into one of the above mentioned activities. What I love about this school is the spacious play area.. the playground is of course new and way better than what it used to be a million years ago. The green board for 7-Up (the throwing the blue rubber ball or tennis ball at your ass) is still standing talk and well maintained (clean).. the field is well kept and I love the track for field day. I was always 1st place and the anchor for relay races.. nostalgic memory orgasm!!! There is enough sitting space, shade, and play area to satisfy the kids and ME while I witness them run back and forth, clearly enjoying the weather, the pleasant atmosphere, the cleanliness of the school overall, and the best years of my life all flashing back to me. Being a PTA Member and a School Site Council member it's only fitting I drop a review. Laneview hasn't changed much from the way you look at it but it has changed over the last 10 years. The school rating score has changed to an 8 from a 6 as it was in the past. This means the school is in an upper class for testing scores and education learning. These tests are done across the district and state. What drove this change was time with new leadership during that time. The school is in a 2nd year leader with a proven principal who is very compassion to students, staff and their learning. Pros: * Staff: They're great and i'm not being bias. When I tell others about the stuff they do I hear "I wish my school did that".. From the front office to teachers and others they're very caring * Scores: As mentioned above the school is an 8 for testing scores which is upper reserved compared to most others in Berryessa and/or San Jose. *Parents: Many volunteer daily, weekly and monthly. From the adult staff out in the walkways to ensure safety, to those helping out after school, PTA Functions/Meetings and School Site Council meetings. The Parents really make it up for a budget shortfall to help fund supplies for teachers/class, field trips, assemblies and others. With only 400/430 kids you'd think they're would be some 100+ Parents, nope. Core group of 20 in total who volunteer and attending meetings to help. THEY NEED MORE! Monthly PTA meetings are 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7-8pm on campus. Please come and attend. School Site council meetings are the hour before which is 6-7pm which is a listen in session with the principal to know more on the budget, lesson plans, etc. You can look up the PTA information from their facebook page "laneview pta" * Playground: The school got a facelift in the playground area with all new gear 2 years ago. The grounds are large for play area with plenty of field area. Off school hours they hose soccer games and others. Cons: * Funding: They don't get much. If it wasn't for being a Title 1 School they'd further behind. A Local measure a few years ago is helping out the the school is set for a mild remodel in classroom later next summer (2017). Solar panels just added. * Facility: Many of the rooms are needing some updates and scheduled to get later in 2017 summer.

They have done a great job at destroying a kid's morale. All wishy-washy talk. Instead, we are told that we will have to individually share our concerns 1-1. You tell me: Why would a principal be afraid to hold a collective parents' session? The last straw was PTA conference where the principal and 2 teachers ganged up on our 9 yr old daughter with 100% criticisms and 0% positive feedback/ensouragement in front of my wife. The whole experience left my wife & daughter in tears. I am shocked that these people get to keep their job with 0 accountability. Our 9 yr old daughter is very obedient, kind and positive. Sometimes on the shy side. Stay away from this toxic place and save your money. Our biggest regret that we enrolled our daughter in this Mipitas Corning campus.
