As a recent graduate, my time at Piedmont Hills was good and bad. A lot of the teachers are very…read morepassionate about their work and are down to earth. A lot of them are kind and always nice to talk to despite the decades long age gap between student and teacher. There are a lot of resources such as a wellness center to support students. One of the biggest problems about this school is the terrible management over the bathrooms. There are several bathrooms across school, and many of them will be closed throughout the day. Newer and nicer bathrooms such as the ones in the new art building and science buildings are always closed. The bathrooms that most people use in the hallways also were closed on and off. There are also locations such as the portables and track where there is no bathroom close by (or the nearest is closed). There is also a 10 minute bathroom policy where you can't go to the bathroom for the first and last 10 minutes of class. For me, as someone who drank a lot of water as a cross country runner, this was hell on Earth. There were MANY times where I would go to class, wait 10 minutes for the 10 minute rule to pass to be able to request to go to the restroom, have to take a long walk (~3 minute walk) to a bathroom, find out that it was closed, walk to the other hallway (approx 70m away) to see if their bathroom is open and find that it is closed, and then be forced to give up or try to find staff to open the bathroom or go on ANOTHER long walk to the office to go to the staff bathroom where I'm not supposed to go to because that's the only bathroom that was open. The lack of bathrooms being open and 10 minute rule also leads to LONG lines for the bathroom during breaks and lunches, which is only exasperated by some of the stalls being taken by girls who smoke in there. Not to mention the bathrooms that were allowed to be open were DISGUSTING. The soap was almost always out, there was ALWAYS a sink (out of the two sinks in the bathroom) broken, and cockroaches everywhere. Reminder that there are 8+ bathrooms, but only 2 were ever really open. Just stupid and silly. Just because there are a few bad apples who use the bathroom to skip class doesn't mean that the rest of the school population should suffer. It doesn't just end there though. It took months of student advocating for there to be a porta potty installed at the track. Hundreds of students use the school's outdoor sports facilities throughout the year (track, xc, softball, baseball, tennis, badminton, soccer, etc) and there was no bathroom near there for a long time. Oftentimes after school, the closest bathrooms (the locker rooms which are still ~.25 mile away from the track) were closed. While the porta potties were eventually implemented, they were CHAINED shut and padlocked. The school has a great student life and I made a lot of memories and lifetime friends here, but the bathroom situation was so horrible it gives this school -2 stars.

All the line are new and get repainting regularly. There are two level and 8 courts which is amazing! Net are straight and solid, brand new too. Basketball court get used often. Net are sometime ripped but it get replace so no complaint. Lot of courts and dual level as well. Rim are not bent or crooked. Always people here playing for pickup game. I play often on weekdays and weekend and there is always enough court for everyone. Football field ... it is locked up during weekend. Just up the fence .. everyone does it. The reason it is lock up is because their field are AMAZING ... so AMAZING. I play flag football and it so easy running on the field. Getting tackle and slam to the ground does even hurt much ... love this field. Don't drop your kids off too early or too late! There's a time for when they can play on campus and when they will be waiting for the time to play on campus. I did have one bad experience a few years back, there when it was my nephew that was about to attend kindergarten, my cousin asked me to drive her there, so I did. The STAFF parking lot sign wasn't very large, nor was the spray painted sign on the ground large enough either. A lady approached me, I was sitting in the driver's seat, and asked "will you be leaving anytime soon?" I answered honestly "I don't know, my cousin is trying to register her son" the lady left in a huff saying "well, I am parking my car behind you if you don't know how long it'll be", needless to say, this school staff drives a burgandy SUV with a specialized license plate. My cousin came out a few minutes later and said "who parked their car behind you? " I wasn't paying attention at the time when the lady approached me I turned around and yup. Her car was parked right behind me so that I couldn't reverse out. My cousin went back into the office and the lady came out with her lecturing my cousin on that it's a staff parking lot. 1) This is our first time at this school, the staff sign for parking was very small and the fact that it's spray painted at very odd corners of the ground (now it's larger from what I saw when I picked my nephew up) This is also the first time at a school where I see there is no parking for the parents and it's in a crowded neighborhood including a park. I've moved around a lot in my childhood days, attended many schools and picked up lots of nephews and cousins from elementary school... seriously, no parent parking or visitor parking? 2) Lady, you could've asked me to move my car, being that I was just sitting in the car, it's not like I left the car to go to the office with my cousin. 3) It was very childlike to have you park your car like tha when in fact there were 2 other, yes that's right TWO other parking spot available. I don't know what kind of lesson you're trying to teach me, it's my first time at that school as well as my cousin, if my child and nephew are to attend there as their first time as well, I hope they are not treated that way nor taught to treat other's that way. ... Now that my child is attending school here, I know from experience a few years back where I can or cannot park. But I still see parents going in and parking inside...

I love both of their teachers and all the staff that I have come in contact with are all really friendly and nice. I've noticed that the Principal is very involved with the students and she is also very social and friendly to everyone whenever she is in passing with anyone. The school itself is nice, of course like every other parent that drops off and picks up their child here, would probably complain of the traffic but it's a school, of course it's gonna be busy around those times. Otherwise, my children are very happy with the school and so far, so am I!

At times that I would need to go pick up my son early, or drop off lunch money, they're usually coherent but I never see any kind of smiles or friendliness. It's like ok, if you don't like working for or with kids, then why are you here? But today really upset me. I walked up to the office and it was "Drill " time. Some larger set woman yelled at me from the benches, "we're having a drill, you can't go in there". I walked closer to the group of women who apparently was the staff of Pomeroy, and asked if I could drop off money for my son's lunch because I'm on my way to work (which I would have been able to do in the office if it was open). The larger women said, "It's a drill, we can't". So in all defense I said "Well what am i supposed to do, leave my son with no money and let him starve? He needs lunch money" That is when this chunky Caucasian, red head looking woman stepped in and said "BY LAW---- BY LAW!! You can't leave this territory when we're in a drill." I'm just thinking in my head, #1 You didn't even answer my question-- all you care about is "laws", not the kids well-being/hungerness #2 Did I ever agree to trying leaving the site if there was a drill?? I literally was just there trying to drop off my son money for lunch. One thing for sure I know is true, this staff (or most) does not care about a child's interest. They are there for themselves. So petty.
