At linda vista, my son had an incident where another student smacked him bottom and kissed him on…read morethe shoulder. I wasn't aware until my son told me. I didn't receive a call from the teacher/school about it. Grandpa went down to the school to speak to the principal but she was busy, so he spoke to the teacher and she said she was only aware of the student kissing my son on his shoulder. I was upset that they did not tell me. I didn't get a phone call back from the principal until I called the district, she called about an hour or 2 later. (2 days later). I told the principal my son is uncomfortable and to move him classes and she told me now. I went down to the district and they said they would call me within 24 hours. It's been a little over 2 days now. No one has returns my voicemail since they don't answer their phone.

Meyer Elementary school, this staff name Ms. Santana questioned my daughter about what my child was…read moretelling me when I picked her up from school (Ms. Santana had called my daughters attention earlier that day for no reason and had left my child without recess making her sit down at a bench). The next day Ms. Santana questioned my daughter about what she had told me regarding what had happened (leaving her without recess and accusing her of pushing another gril) she involved Ms. Lopez (lunch lady) the lunch lady got mad at my daughter and grabbed my daughter by her wrist leaving two small bruises. I noticed the bruises the next day in the morning and went straight to the principal (Dr. Carilo) I told her everything that was going on she couldn't believe it and told me she would investigate and call me later. That same day Dr. Carillo questioned my daughter about the situation the principal intimidated my daughter and made her cry and told her she's the one coming to school she needs to fix her own problems and not involve the parents!!! I went straight to the cops and of course had to let the district know too! The principal and staff changed the story and stated my daughter got the bruising from the monkey bars which she doesn't play that and also stated that one of my daughters friends pushed her and made the bruises, and when the cops asked for the videos from the school cameras they stated the cameras didn't capture the location of where the incident happened. The case was dropped!

Never a fan of this school because my service is terrible. I have AT&T. My daughter did go here for…read more5 years and now I find myself dropping my son off to T-K every morning. Not every elementary school in the district has T-K; it is short for transitional kindergarten. It basically screws over the kids that are born after August something until December. Gavin was born on Sept. 30 which potentially means he is already a year late but whatevs. I wonder who the hell decided on that. Due to costs, I was no longer able to afford his stay w/ his pre-school so I opted for a babysitter. Everyday I get off of work, I see him bored and unchallenged. I paid for someone to keep him locked in a room. He was occupied w/ television and my iPad. No brain stimulation and no interaction. He fed himself (I packed his backpack w/ snacks, drinks, and a sandwich) and threw the leftovers or the plastic bags away. He could have "watched" himself. After 20 days (4 weeks), I decided it was enough. I made all these crazy arrangements to complete his enrollment packet. This school was full but thank goodness they were quick to contact me and let him start school that Monday. Everything was confirmed on a Friday. I was so thrilled. The principal, the office staff, and his teacher made us feel welcomed and at home. The top pillars contain quotes from "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen McCovey. I recognized that right away. I am blessed and cannot tell you how much he enjoys going to school. The school is clean, relatively well structured but parking can be a pain in the ass. I get there 20 min. early just to chill in the car. Thanks, Toyon!

Can you believe that! not to mention the principal at the time was very rude to myself and to other staff including parents! and I had to get my attorney involved! she than quickly shut-up and ignored me. But I think what I want to review the most is that other teachers are still scared to speak up about things. I was an rsed teacher at 3 of their San Jose schools, now I am a public school district employee and I belong to cta (california teachers association) and the benefits from my public school district are for more superior than anything that i had while working as a rocketship teacher. and by unionizing you can have more rights as public employees, because we all want the best. And the biggest benefit of belonging to a union is *tenure and job security. Just remember you cannot be fired for wanting to unionize. And this school and other San Jose RSED schools were threatening my freedom to speak and voice my concerns. anyhow while i was a teacher for rsed we were all sent an email from our ceo! about how *"unionizing prevents being able to accomplish our rocketship mission statement". i know now thats not true! what i was really being told was that the higher-ups didnt want me having a middle-man to protect me. its as simple as that. please know that i support what rocketship does for our children and their families! teaching at rsed were some of the best years of my teaching career. I fully support education but we are only human and we are all teachers who deserve protection, we all have the same goal and want only the best. but at the same time its important to think about our rights as public employees.

I loved every single one of my teacher, but I do love the one who kicked me out of class for laughing too much a bit less. I had a blast at the free after school thing making lanyards and whatnot. The recreation leaders were so nice. I remember I was the good kid and they let me out of their lectures that they had when everyone else was being bad. I remember my teachers, Ms. Bosak & Ms. Carter were truly interested in me. I thought this school was getting better due to the newly painted stuff on campus, but apparently it's on PI: what happens when a school doesn't make good progress & everyone is given the option to transfer to a different school.

Kids have some maths and ELA worksheet everyday, but they can be finished in 30 minutes. They also have some maths and ELA exams throughout the year. School provide Freckle or RAZ kids as extension reading practice. Teachers contact parents for kids behaviors. Social worker and psychologist are also onsite to support kids mental needs. PTA organizes some events each year, all family can join. We have some school clubs too. I would recommend this school to other parents.
