As a recent graduate, my time at Piedmont Hills was good and bad. A lot of the teachers are very…read morepassionate about their work and are down to earth. A lot of them are kind and always nice to talk to despite the decades long age gap between student and teacher. There are a lot of resources such as a wellness center to support students. One of the biggest problems about this school is the terrible management over the bathrooms. There are several bathrooms across school, and many of them will be closed throughout the day. Newer and nicer bathrooms such as the ones in the new art building and science buildings are always closed. The bathrooms that most people use in the hallways also were closed on and off. There are also locations such as the portables and track where there is no bathroom close by (or the nearest is closed). There is also a 10 minute bathroom policy where you can't go to the bathroom for the first and last 10 minutes of class. For me, as someone who drank a lot of water as a cross country runner, this was hell on Earth. There were MANY times where I would go to class, wait 10 minutes for the 10 minute rule to pass to be able to request to go to the restroom, have to take a long walk (~3 minute walk) to a bathroom, find out that it was closed, walk to the other hallway (approx 70m away) to see if their bathroom is open and find that it is closed, and then be forced to give up or try to find staff to open the bathroom or go on ANOTHER long walk to the office to go to the staff bathroom where I'm not supposed to go to because that's the only bathroom that was open. The lack of bathrooms being open and 10 minute rule also leads to LONG lines for the bathroom during breaks and lunches, which is only exasperated by some of the stalls being taken by girls who smoke in there. Not to mention the bathrooms that were allowed to be open were DISGUSTING. The soap was almost always out, there was ALWAYS a sink (out of the two sinks in the bathroom) broken, and cockroaches everywhere. Reminder that there are 8+ bathrooms, but only 2 were ever really open. Just stupid and silly. Just because there are a few bad apples who use the bathroom to skip class doesn't mean that the rest of the school population should suffer. It doesn't just end there though. It took months of student advocating for there to be a porta potty installed at the track. Hundreds of students use the school's outdoor sports facilities throughout the year (track, xc, softball, baseball, tennis, badminton, soccer, etc) and there was no bathroom near there for a long time. Oftentimes after school, the closest bathrooms (the locker rooms which are still ~.25 mile away from the track) were closed. While the porta potties were eventually implemented, they were CHAINED shut and padlocked. The school has a great student life and I made a lot of memories and lifetime friends here, but the bathroom situation was so horrible it gives this school -2 stars.

Aahh.. memories…read more. My old stomping ground. I was a student here from grade K-5th! Had a play date and decided to take the kids here because originally the plan was for them to play basketball; since the courts are suitable for their height (obviously much shorter than the actual courts), I figured this place is the perfect place to introduce my Daughter to the sport. I was in track, orchestra, played basketball, soccer, tetherball, dodgeball, kickball, and football throughout my wonderful 6 years here. My Daughter hasn't really shown much interests in sports but I do hope she gets into one of the above mentioned activities. What I love about this school is the spacious play area.. the playground is of course new and way better than what it used to be a million years ago. The green board for 7-Up (the throwing the blue rubber ball or tennis ball at your ass) is still standing talk and well maintained (clean).. the field is well kept and I love the track for field day. I was always 1st place and the anchor for relay races.. nostalgic memory orgasm!!! There is enough sitting space, shade, and play area to satisfy the kids and ME while I witness them run back and forth, clearly enjoying the weather, the pleasant atmosphere, the cleanliness of the school overall, and the best years of my life all flashing back to me. Being a PTA Member and a School Site Council member it's only fitting I drop a review. Laneview hasn't changed much from the way you look at it but it has changed over the last 10 years. The school rating score has changed to an 8 from a 6 as it was in the past. This means the school is in an upper class for testing scores and education learning. These tests are done across the district and state. What drove this change was time with new leadership during that time. The school is in a 2nd year leader with a proven principal who is very compassion to students, staff and their learning. Pros: * Staff: They're great and i'm not being bias. When I tell others about the stuff they do I hear "I wish my school did that".. From the front office to teachers and others they're very caring * Scores: As mentioned above the school is an 8 for testing scores which is upper reserved compared to most others in Berryessa and/or San Jose. *Parents: Many volunteer daily, weekly and monthly. From the adult staff out in the walkways to ensure safety, to those helping out after school, PTA Functions/Meetings and School Site Council meetings. The Parents really make it up for a budget shortfall to help fund supplies for teachers/class, field trips, assemblies and others. With only 400/430 kids you'd think they're would be some 100+ Parents, nope. Core group of 20 in total who volunteer and attending meetings to help. THEY NEED MORE! Monthly PTA meetings are 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7-8pm on campus. Please come and attend. School Site council meetings are the hour before which is 6-7pm which is a listen in session with the principal to know more on the budget, lesson plans, etc. You can look up the PTA information from their facebook page "laneview pta" * Playground: The school got a facelift in the playground area with all new gear 2 years ago. The grounds are large for play area with plenty of field area. Off school hours they hose soccer games and others. Cons: * Funding: They don't get much. If it wasn't for being a Title 1 School they'd further behind. A Local measure a few years ago is helping out the the school is set for a mild remodel in classroom later next summer (2017). Solar panels just added. * Facility: Many of the rooms are needing some updates and scheduled to get later in 2017 summer.

I was bullied not only by a student in my class but also the teacher in 4th grade, she did not do anything as I was bullied by the student and when I had low scores on a test she belted out my low grade outloud in front of the class. I will only talk about the baseball fields in the back of the school…read more The issues here is that the fields look exactly like they did when I was playing baseball years back, the field are full of weeds, which is what makes it look like the grass is on the baseball field. The dirt is one big kitty little box for all the neighborhood cats, which not only leaves all the poop, but I am sure all the pee. This is a great thing to be trying to teach the younger generation how to play baseball with all this out there. I know there is not much money in the school funds to keep up baseball fields, but let's be real there has to be something more than trying to pay people to do something they are not doing. I would like to see some extra money be put in to the up keep of the field nothing more. In the mean time, I will have my rake and shovel to help out from time to time to keep the field in good shape for playing.
