The summer following Kindergarten, she was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. On the recommendation from a coworker, we toured the Merryhill school. From the outset, we were impressed. The curriculum was on par with the other school, and the diversity of the experience was clearly wide ranging. Once the school year started it became even more clear that the principal was highly engaged with all the students, and that between her and the teachers, they would bend over backwards to assure that the accommodations necessary for my daughter were in place. Unlike my daughter's former school, we were able to work with her teachers to assure that through her school work and tests, she could demonstrate what she had learned, instead of putting her into a cookie-cutter educational system that tests in only one way and does not accommodate for her needs. As she has entered the third grade, we could not be more thrilled with the Merryhill experience and the staff at the school. My daughter has gone from hating school to not being able to get enough. Her grades continue to maintain at the highest level and she scored above her grade level in standardized testing. Her confidence in both her academics and her social interactions continues to grow. I sincerely believe this is in big part due to the efforts of the Merryhill staff. While every school and every environment is not for every student, parents should be doing their due diligence in assessing the most appropriate direction for their child. We are incredibly fortunate to have found Merryhill at a time during which we had numerous questions. A great big thank you to Merryhill Elementary School.

The administration at this school is fully aware of how poorly they've treated their staff. Instead of addressing the issues, they seem more focused on hiding the truth. For this matter my daughter will not enroll in this school. The front staff are so rude! They need to be trained on proper customer service. And the principal is rude as well. They all need better training! But what's done in the dark always finds its way to the light. To any parents considering this school please think twice. For the sake of your children and the educators who deserve better.

This summer, he came back for their summer program, and he absolutely loves being back! He really enjoys all the activities and learning, and comes home happy and excited to tell us about his day. A special shout-out to Ms. Preethi and Ms. Prerana -- Josh loves both of them, and we really appreciate how caring and wonderful they are with the kids. It's been so nice to see Josh back at Challenger Berryessa and enjoying his time there again. We have a lot of good memories from this school and are very happy with his summer experience!

There had been a lot of feedbacks and playground talks among parents that Challenger had a very strict culture and tough curriculum that not every kid can handle and adapt. The feedback is that usually boys that have high energy and too active will get into trouble a lot. To our surprise, he loves the school just after 1 week and always looking forward to going to school in the morning, we also see a big difference in his English speaking ability and his independence in behavior. We are assured to let him continue with this school for the next coming years. We want to give special thanks to the 2 teachers Miss Hemanth and Miss Sonali for their loving care and coaching, we can tell he is very happy with them and there is the strong teachers-students chemistry we observed. Kids usually are very pure and express directly what they feel so we are very assured when he nods and say he likes his teachers and wants to go to school. From what I see so far, I believe Challenger has a very strong track records and is well managed across all their schools to groom the students to be academically strong and independent character especially needed in the competitive Bay Area. No wonder Challenger had been listed as one of the top private schools in US.

The next day Ms. Santana questioned my daughter about what she had told me regarding what had happened (leaving her without recess and accusing her of pushing another gril) she involved Ms. Lopez (lunch lady) the lunch lady got mad at my daughter and grabbed my daughter by her wrist leaving two small bruises. I noticed the bruises the next day in the morning and went straight to the principal (Dr. Carilo) I told her everything that was going on she couldn't believe it and told me she would investigate and call me later. That same day Dr. Carillo questioned my daughter about the situation the principal intimidated my daughter and made her cry and told her she's the one coming to school she needs to fix her own problems and not involve the parents!!! I went straight to the cops and of course had to let the district know too! The principal and staff changed the story and stated my daughter got the bruising from the monkey bars which she doesn't play that and also stated that one of my daughters friends pushed her and made the bruises, and when the cops asked for the videos from the school cameras they stated the cameras didn't capture the location of where the incident happened. The case was dropped!

Kids who excel academically will be held back at this school as there are no opportunities for them to further improve or shine. They are given movie time in class, where the kids watch movies/cartoons instead. Some of the teachers tend to give out homework for the sake of giving out homework. Not every elementary school in the district has T-K; it is short for transitional kindergarten. It basically screws over the kids that are born after August something until December. Gavin was born on Sept. 30 which potentially means he is already a year late but whatevs. I wonder who the hell decided on that. Due to costs, I was no longer able to afford his stay w/ his pre-school so I opted for a babysitter. Everyday I get off of work, I see him bored and unchallenged. I paid for someone to keep him locked in a room. He was occupied w/ television and my iPad. No brain stimulation and no interaction. He fed himself (I packed his backpack w/ snacks, drinks, and a sandwich) and threw the leftovers or the plastic bags away. He could have "watched" himself. After 20 days (4 weeks), I decided it was enough. I made all these crazy arrangements to complete his enrollment packet. This school was full but thank goodness they were quick to contact me and let him start school that Monday. Everything was confirmed on a Friday. I was so thrilled. The principal, the office staff, and his teacher made us feel welcomed and at home. The top pillars contain quotes from "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen McCovey. I recognized that right away. I am blessed and cannot tell you how much he enjoys going to school. The school is clean, relatively well structured but parking can be a pain in the ass. I get there 20 min. early just to chill in the car. Thanks, Toyon!

They call the mom and me ; they had my niece wait by the office with staff and I had to sign in my info in order to take her home. It does show that they care a lot of their students safety. There's multiple playgrounds here for various ages, including the toddlers. My nieces love to play there and it's decently well kept (newer swings, no trash). Also has Large grassy areas too. I walk my dog here on leash so she can run around and play for a bit There's also a back area where there are tables and grill stations to host a picnic by the playgrounds on weekends. Basketball courts used to be open but I think they now close the gates (for safety? To protect the equipment?). Website https://brooktree.berryessa.k12.ca.us/
