Avoid this company at all costs. I had a terrible experience and believe their business practices…read moreare deceptive. I was quoted $380 for a 4-hour move, including the truck. However, after the move was completed, I was charged $655 -- with no clear explanation. On top of that, they broke my desk during the move and showed no responsibility. When I initially scheduled the move, I spoke with Charles, who advised me to book directly through their company (not U-Haul) to save money. I specifically asked whether I needed to provide a truck, and Charles assured me that a truck was included in the $380 price. I booked the move for 9/20/25 at 9:00 AM. The movers showed up at 9:00 AM but said they had not been told to bring a truck. They left and didn't return until around 11:00 AM -- with a U-Haul truck. The move was completed at approximately 2:15 PM, and I was suddenly charged $655. When I called Charles to dispute the charge, he admitted I had been overcharged and offered a $45 refund. He then told me they had added $250 for the truck, even though I was originally told the truck was included. I checked U-Haul's rates myself -- I could've rented the same truck for just $45. To make matters worse, when I tried to pay the movers via Cash App, a warning popped up saying the number I was sending money to had been reported multiple times for scamming. Consider this a warning: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were dishonest about pricing, unprofessional in communication, broke my furniture, and used a payment method flagged for fraud. You risk being overcharged, misled, and having your belongings damaged.

The day before, a member of the company met me at the storage unit, and said I needed to do nothing. The next day, a 3-man team showed up within 15 minutes of the expected time, and within 2 hours everything was loaded onto the truck. Once the truck was weighed, I got a call that the move would cost me $700 less -- when does that happen? Eight days later, the truck, and the same crew arrived on a Saturday at 7:59 AM, one minute earlier than I had been told two days before. And within 3 hours everything was unloaded, a desk re-assembled, and many boxes of books and bookcases carried up stairs to the second floor. Never a complaining word; the team just did their job. I should mention that even the pins for the bookcases were removed and wrapped. Nothing was lost. I cannot recommend this company more highly -- and they are not restricted to the South Hills of Pittsburgh despite their name. They move nationwide. My previous move was an absolute horror story - this move was flawless. This is a picture of my dream team: Alex, John, and Chris. Very grateful - thanks to all the staff at South Hills Moving. rkk

They did a great job being careful with our items, especially when packing the moving van. We opted to save some money and rent our own UHaul van. So the crew loaded it at our old apartment and met us at the new place to unload the UHaul. Again, they were very quick and professional. My only suggestion is that it would be great to be able to tip the crew via The Home Team payment. I didn't have cash only me, so I used Venmo to give the guys a tip. I'll definitely use The Home Team again for future moves.

It was easy to book through their website, and $80/hr for 2 people seemed pretty much on par or cheaper than the other options. They were also willing to work just 1 hour, which many other bigger moving companies were not willing to do. On the day of the move, the captain of the move team called me to confirm the time, and they actually were a bit early! The two movers were college football players, and they moved all my things up so quickly. Everything was done professionally, and I was extremely pleased with the move. Of note, you do have to provide the moving van and moving equipment (bellhop, wheels, etc.) since the Home Team only providers the manpower/womanpower. So why the 4 stars, you ask? Well, it was a bureaucracy issue, as always. The movers helped me for 1.25 hours, but I was charged 2 hours. The owner kept saying that the minimum was 2 hours, even though I pre-confirmed that he said 1 hour was the minimum. Fortunately, I booked online so I just took all the screenshots and sent them back to the owner. I also contacted my movers, and they confirmed that they were only paid for 1.25 hours. Then it took 2 weeks for them to say that they charged me in error. Eventually I just filed a dispute with my credit card and was finally refunded. It took THREE WEEKS to refund the difference, and I had to contact someone almost every other day. Given how prompt, courteous, and hard working their movers were, it's incredible how unorganized and honestly corrupt their office was.
