The guys were on time, very friendly and did an excellent job quickly and economically

Local company with a tight-knit crew. Stumpf just helped me move my household items (including a grand piano) from Pittsburgh to Annapolis, MD. I chose them for several reasons: 1. They are experienced piano movers. 2. Their price is reasonable compared to other national services. 3. Their reviews looked good, and I know I can trust those reviews because they are likely about the people who will actually move my stuff, not some random crew. Overall, I am happy with the service. The estimate was accurate. The packing was efficient and professional. It took them about 6 hours to pack up about ten rooms' worth of stuff, and another 4 hours the next day to load the truck. They stored my stuff for me for two weeks while I waited for the new house. Then they arrived at the new place at 8am as they promised and unloaded everything and set up the piano. Throughout all this chaos, the only casualty was a (not particularly nice) ice tea pitcher. I was happy with their service and would recommend them without hesitation. read more

I did not personally hire this moving company, but I was present during the recent move and re-location of a piano belonging to an acquaintance. The movers were on time, courteous, professional, and even willing to adjust the piano several different ways inside the room before the final resting positon was decided. The movers were very helpful and even offered suggestions about keeping the piano in working order. They also mentioned that Stumpf Moving and Storage currently offers their piano moving services to Duquesne University School Of Music Moving costs seemed to be in line with the work performed. read more

We had a great crew Grant,Shawn and H(sorry can't spell it) who were very careful and wrapped everything that was glass. They were hard workers and efficient. I wish that the minimum booking was 3 hours and not 4. I used Stumpfs again to transport a bedroom set. The movers were Shawn and Paul. Again they are wonderful and provide great service. Russ in the office is helpful as well. read more

I had a great experience with these movers, referred by a neighbor after getting no call back from 3 other local movers. Russ called me soon after I left a msg, very helpful and knowledgeable about how many hours and guys I would need, quoted estimate seemed very reasonable. John and Josh showed up exactly on time, though short a third guy they did a fast, professional and careful move of my belongings , they finished in less time than estimated and was charged accordingly, I would call them again in a minute read more

I just used Stumpf Moving and couldn't be happier with the service. The men that moved me where very hard workers and very friendly. Also, the estimate I was giving was spot on. These guys are true professionals, and I will recommend them to my family and friends. read more

Very pleased with all aspects of our move with Stumpf Moving Co. Their quote came in lowest and the 4 men doing the actual moving of the furniture were friendly, careful, energetic and remained that way to the very end of the day! Would call them first and have referred them to others. Excellent experience! read more

These guys were the best! Military friendly, too, for all you active-duty service members and vets out there. Every step of my move was handled professionally, from start to finish. My pre-move survey was done efficiently and all my questions were answered. On move out day, the movers arrived ready to pack everything with great care. All of my glassware was wrapped up to prevent breakage. Other delicate items were also treated with care. If they weren't sure about something, they asked - better safe than sorry! Total time to pack up and load my entire apartment took about 4 hours. Everyone was so nice and respectful. Highly recommend! read more

Well, thank you so much for that. But your company has very poor communication and very crappy customer service. Ah, you blocked me from you page, how ever will I live with myself?!?! Yes i admitted I was less than kind to your employee, but what about how she treated me?! If I'm not correct, customer service is the staple to any company and you guys lack in that severally. Of course i am going to be upset, your company told me a price, and we confirmed a date for my move and you somehow didnt have any of that info and it was going to be more than what i was told twice? So sorry I said quote and not estimate, aren't the the same thing?! Yes please refer to all the wonderful comments about this moving company who loses peoples estimates, doesn't have their move dates set, and their crappy customer service! Good luck all! read more

Terrible at best! Stumpf's arrived at my house to relocate a piano. The movers indicated that they did not have the proper dolly with them to move the piano, Long story - short.....they dropped the piano, dented the front panel and crushed one of the ceramic tiles on the porch. Mr. Stumpf was rude and unresponsive to dealing with the matter.. He indicated that his team claimed that they did not drop the piano. My word against their word.......and he believed them. NEVER would I recommend any using this company. read more

Worst movers ever. I hired them for packing and move. The estimate was off by almost $400. Mr. Stumpf complained about everything and was very rude. They didn't bring a dolly and was surprised that they needed it to move the furniture down the driveway? They just threw boxes into whatever room they felt like regardless of how they were labeled. I was finding kitchen boxes in the bedroom etc. They were basically a nightmare and would never use them again nor would I recommend them! Terrible!!!! read more

I had one of the most horrible experiences with a business ever with Stumpf. I am writing this review with all earnestness and concern for those who may consider using Stumpf Moving for either moving or storage services. If you have anything of monetary value or any items that hold personal or sentimental value, I implore you NOT to entrust them to Stumpf Moving and Storage. Stumpf moved our items into our new home on August 22, 2013. During the unloading process, some of the workers, who remembered the items from moving them in April, made notations on the household goods inventory that many of the items were damaged or destroyed. For instance, a mirrored dresser was cracked entirely down the front, a leather bench was ripped, a glass table top was scratched. They had built a crate for the glass table top when they originally moved it in April of 2012, but then when they screwed the crate together, the nails from the screws scratched the tabletop. Most disheartening is the damage that was done in storage to a large antique buffet that belonged to my great grandmother. They laid some sort of felt-like moving blanket on it and, since the storage must not have been climate control, the felt from the blanket completely adhered to the top of the buffet. I will have to find someone to refinish it. After the move, my contacted Stumpf to file our claim. We even had paid several hundred dollars for extra insurance because we greatly treasure our home valuables and many of them are irreplacable. We called Stumpf approximately three times a week for almost four weeks before hearing back from them. We would leave messages and they would tell us that the insurance forms were in the mail, but they would never come. Finally, a month after our move, we received a form to fill out. It does not appear that Stumpf even purchased the extra insurance that we paid for. Mind you, this is fraud. Secondly, we submitted our claims for our possessions and 10 days later we received a letter in the mail denying ALL claims and saying that our items were damaged prior to the move. While some of the items were not brand new and suffered from general wear and use, they were greatly damaged in the care of Stumpf. We are now pursuing legal action. I implore you not to use this company if you have any care for your valuables. read more
