But these guys bring in some of the best drummers in the world for drum clinics....Todd Sucherman, Greyson Nekrutman, and Matt Greiner so far. Sucherman even taught a 3-hour, 20-person-only Masterclass, which, I felt, was absolutely invaluable. The staff has always been super-friendly and always thanked me for coming. It's not like I hadn't been there before, but recently N Stuff Music really became more that a music store where I would buy supplies. I took my wife there to look for a Banjo after I overheard her saying she was interested in learning to play. While we were there, I spotted a beautiful Gretsch hollow body electric guitar that I just couldn't believe - it was left handed! A big Rockabilly fan, I just couldn't resist checking it out. One thing led to another, and I decided to buy the guitar. Everyone from the owner to the staff who dealt with me were just awesome. None of my questions were too basic, and they did everything to make me feel good about my purchase. They explained everything about the guitar to me and helped me choose the accessories I needed to get starter. There was no up-selling or pressure at all. A musician for a lot of years, this was really just a change from brass to strings for me, but nobody at N Stuff Music knew that. I got to see how they dealt with a brand new musician, and I am impressed. What a simply outstanding group of people! And the bonus is that they work in one of the most well equipped music stores I have ever seen (I mean, who stocks a left handed rockabilly guitar?). This store has existed for as long as I can remember. Before the chains like Guitar Center came in, this was the place to go for all of your musician needs. They sell almost anything you're looking for in their cramped quarters. They have guitars, basses, keyboards, amps, PA Systems, pedals, mixers, recorders, lights, drums, cymbals, and most other types of equipment not related to the high school band (I didn't see saxophones and trumpets, but that doesn't mean they don't have them). They have a rental department if you're playing a gig and just need some temporary equipment. They look to be working on a venue next door where they will have shows or jam sessions or something. They have new and used equipment. The staff is super friendly and helpful and can answer any questions you throw at them (about music). Many of the employees have been there for years which lets you know what type of business it is. Parking can be challenging at times and make sure you check their hours so you don't show up and they're closed. It's a great music store that anyone into music should stop in and see. read more

All the guitars had tags on them. Some which said to ask for assistance before playing, which of course is totally fine. I found an inexpensive guitar whos tag did not say to ask for assistance assuming it was ok to pick it up. I played a couple chords on it and was immediately scolded for picking it up. I explained the tag didn't say I needed assistance and thanked them for clarifying. Then I did one more walk through the store and the same salesman asked me if I needed any more assistance somewhat passive aggressively, and I said no, we just thought it was a cool store and wanted to see it. They had some effects that I very much was interested in buying, but that style of running a shop just irked me and I didn't want to give them my money or be around that vibe, so we left. It's understandable to have a policy of not grabbing instruments without asking, but they should just have every single tag say that or one big sign that states that clearly for everything. Wanted to give one star, but they had a great selection. But bad vibes in there. read more

One of the most amazing guitar stores I've been to. Definitely the best in the Pittsburgh area. They have a great selection of guitars. In addition to the major brands my attention was drawn to their Suhr and LsL guitars. I was hoping to see they carry John Page Classic guitars which are like the new improved Fender guitars but no one in the area seems to carry them. Loved browsing their selection of pedals. Really impressive and very wide in scope of the brands that they carry. Tried out several drive pedals and ended up with a Friedman Motor City Drive pedal which has a real tube in it. I picked up a new bass, and the staff (I feel bad I don't remember his name, he was great) got me set up with multiple options in my price range, answers questions, and I ended up with an Ibanez EHB1500 that I couldn't be happier with. They were also more than happy to adjust the instrument to my liking, raising the action and putting some more relief in the neck. They even rent out PA and instruments for very reasonable rates. Everyone in the store is always very kind and helpful, and I've never had a bad experience. I wanted to support a local business rather than go to Guitar Center. There were employees following me around the entire time, anytime I touched or picked up something there was someone right behind me asking me if I needed help, or telling me that they needed to put it behind the register. Every room I entered an employee followed me into. One just sat down 5 ft away and stared at me for 10 mins. I chose not to look at anything else in that room, I felt so uncomfortable. They did NOT do this to other customers. It was baffling and stressful and ultimately made me decide not to buy anything at all because I could not focus long enough without someone breathing down my neck. Great store, great selection, great staff. It's bigger than you'd expect from the outside and they have a wide variety of instruments and gear. One of their staff, Joe, helped my girlfriend's brother and spent nearly two hours with him, plugging in and playing multiple guitars, explaining the differences and the hardware, and helping him make the right choice for him. He ended up with a Fender Artist Series Clapton Stratocaster at a fantastic price. Joe told him to bring it back any time and ask for him personally for any questions, concerns, or issues. While they do carry some other guitar manufacturers, they're primarily a Fender dealer. My only beef is that I'm more of a Gibson player, otherwise I would have been shopping for myself as well. I can't dock them for that though. They still have a good selection of instruments and Joe was unbelievably helpful. read more

This is my new favorite music store. They have a great selection of all kinds of guitars, acoustic, electric, used and vintage. They have a wide variety of amps as well. They focus on Fender Brand items. I didn't see any Gibson guitars unless they are in the used section. They will help you find the sound you want. I asked to try some fuzz pedals. Chris that works there was more than kind to help me pick several out to try. We found one I liked and also a Tremelo pedal too that Nick helped get set up for me. He also helped introduce me to a pedal board that has built in power! Total game changer for me and I ended up with that too. Do yourself a favor and stop by this store. It's off the turnpike and easy to get too. Parking can be a challenge but it's well worth it. I spend about two hours there. You could get lost in all the rooms. I stopped in to get my 12 string set up and adjusted. They did a great job at it.

Great selection of product and can find anything you need to with the help of the always friendly staff. However, I recently took my Ibanez guitar in to get touched up and strung and when I got home, I found that as soon as I opened my tuner locks, all strings immediately snapped due to how little extra was left on. When it comes to servicing, I won't be bringing my equipment back, but I'll still shop with you guys. read more

Customer service is unmatched. Brought in a 20 year old Taylor acoustic that was collecting dust because the action had become mile high. They adjusted the bridge/nut as well as some fretwork and cleaning with a new set of strings. The guitar now plays excellent and the price for the services was half of what I expected it to be. It took me longer to try to leave a review for this outstanding business than it did for them to help us find what we were looking for yesterday and I'm not kidding! We caught wind last week that our grandson was interested in a looper pedal for Christmas. We checked a couple of stores, and we're so glad that the last store directed us to N Stuff. Walking through the front door at N Stuff was a WOW! So many beautiful guitars that kept going on and on and so many other beautiful instruments and so much "Stuff" - even an upstairs that we didn't get to see. It was so exciting and impressive. We first met Billy at the front counter and told him what our mission was. He not only had the loopers but multiple options and he knew all about them! He was so very helpful in telling us about the different models and their features and he helped us to choose one that just fit our grandson's needs. Next Billy led us to a mic specialist and we are sorry that we didn't get his name as well because he was equally as knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful. Within a very short time, he got us set up with everything else that we needed. We never expected to find everything in one place but we did! Very knowledgeable staff, and always quick to reply when I drop them an email. These guys genuinely love what they do, and they never make me feel stupid for not knowing something or not having the same musical "cred" as they do. This was one of the best music stores that I've visited in Pittsburgh. Though not the best in Pennsylvania it had a pretty good variety of instruments and the prices weren't insane either! They had a used section that was full of guitars, amps, keyboards, and other instruments to tickle your fancy. I was particularly interested in the keyboards and ukuleles and was very pleased!
