The musical instruments have an aroma and the all male, all age staff doesn't place on cologne The staff is very greeting and nice We had Steve. An older studious gentlemen who didnt look the part of musician but when demonstrating the guitar he showed us he went to the Hendrix school of rock. The entire place just stopped as Steve ripped into a song. It erupted in cheers when he was done. He was unfazed by the attention. Indifferent to the praise of my friend who screamed like a teenager over his musical ability Wow. Sold. We bought the guitar Steve was courteous and professional and knowledgeable Yes he lacked the rays of sunshine in his personality but that's the bottom of my list on salesperson requirement I will be back to get a keyboard. Their knowledge and experience is exceptional and they work their absolute best to meet the customers needs. I think GUITAR CENTER is a great store! It's fun & they have music lessons if you want, lots of instruments like pianos& ofcourse guitars! Every adjunct piece of equipment add on like amps,speakers,picks,straps,cases,strings, etc. It is a great place to browse for sure. Also they have a really endless supply online & I've bought a few harmonica online for really good price & stuff comes fast. I think the store is well organized & they are very helpful. Inventory is consistently inconsistent. Staff is not helpful. Online orders are often canceled with no follow up due to inventory issues. Guitar center is continuing to skew more towards a big box retailer, which seems counterintuitive to a music and music supply store. read more

So I've been playing live music for a while now and decided I wanted a top of the line guitar. I am a semi-regular patron to this particular guitar center and I've never had a poor experience. But when I went to get my Gibson J-45 I was greeted by Nick. He was super accommodating and helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure I was completely satified with my purchase. He gave me a good discount and even threw in some humidifier packs and a Leather guitar strap with a $70 price tag. This isn't even the best part... He told me to keep an eye out for holiday coupons and he'll reimburse me the difference. If that doesn't display excellent customer service, I don't know what does. I recently visited Guitar Center in Monroeville. The instrumental selection was pretty good. It took quite a while to get any help finding what I was interested in by a staff member. When I finally did, he was helpful and somewhat knowledgeable. The experience there was alright, but the store was a little messy and dirty, and there was a strong odor of urine in the store. I'm glad I found what I wanted, but it wasn't very enjoyable. read more

This is the first time we have been to this location in a while. Used to love this location. Not so much the case any more. First and foremost, the selection of instruments is always great. The prices are reasonable. You can plug in an try out their equipment. The employees are pretty nice and helpful. However, the new layout is complete trash. The store is chaotic. Where they used to have apparel, they have lesson booths. Now they offer very little tees and zero hoodies. Got an awesome fender hoody here last time. Was hoping to snag another. No bueno. Everything is crammed and there isn't prices on a lot of things that aren't an instrument. Trying to check out is confusing. There's no clear location of a line. The registers are on a square glass display case. There were three people cashing out, but no idea where to go to wait because people just kept walking up. Had no idea if they were with the people checking out or if they were waiting also. Luckily, someone asked us if we needed help and checked us out at the display case behind us. We had no idea there was a register there because there was stuff literally everywhere. Glad we have a couple local places and only come out here every once and a while. I bought a guitar here last month. The actual experience itself was wholly unremarkable, but I honestly didn't require any assistance. I knew what I wanted, I came in and got it, played around with some gear to confirm my decision, and the staff handled the financing aspect and checked me out efficiently. There really was no other customer service to speak of, but maybe they were under the impression they'd be getting in my way. I'm not mad about it, I just thought it was a genuinely interesting dichotomy compared to someone I know that recently bought his first guitar at a different store. He had a staff member with him every step of the way making sure he had all the information he needed and was comfortable with his purchase. I didn't get that here, but again, this isn't my first guitar and I didn't need it or ask for it. So I hadn't initially planned on writing a review, since there wasn't much to talk about. But since that day I've been inundated with guitar advertisements online (thanks for the data-mining, Google), and came to realize that the exact guitar I purchased was on sale for roughly $400 less than what I paid. I gave them a call and found out they had a price match policy, so I'll be getting the difference credited back to me. So that's worth sharing. I haven't seen the actual transaction occur yet, but if it doesn't, I'll be sure to amend this review. In the end, I got a fair deal on a world class instrument, but literally zero personal attention. I can't answer whether it would have been available if I had actually needed it. Price check all their used gear!!!!!! They had a USED Harley Benton g212 vintage guitar cab listed for $359. The price of the cab BRAND NEW is $229. I showed them and they confirmed it was correct, but then when I offered them $200 cash for the USED amp, they turned me down and said "PRICE IS FIRM". Great management! read more

Sooooo.... I purchased a vintage Aria AC 20 online. The description indicated "great condition"! When Guitar was delivered it had multiple cracks...one of which ran from sound hole to the bottom of the guitar...ALERT! I returned this guitar to the Monroeville Store and today...IT IS ON THE WEBSITE FOR SALE IN GREAT CONDITION!!! While there I purchased a Cordoba C7 and it came with a Cordoba padded gig bag. However, I was provided a clearly "used" item. While the store replaced it the next day this should have never happened. I had purchased a Yamaha keyboard approximately two years ago. I also had an extended warranty [for 3 years]. Within the warranty period, My keyboard starting losing its perfect tuning at times, and, as a professional entertainer, I was worried about upcoming important jobs. Although the particular location of where I needed to go was not at all convenient, the store manager, "Nick", really went to bat for me and also interceded with the warranty company to locate another repair service, and one that could take care of this very quickly to avoid the mishap of the keyboard doing this on a performance. Nick really stayed on top of this, called me back anytime I called [very quickly as well] and made sure that, after the repair was completed, that I was happy. I've been going to this location for a while now and it has been the source of many impulse buys and necessities throughout my short musical career. It's generally been the same staff for a while now and they somehow manage to remember our names and ask about things we've bought in the past, which is pretty cool. Their bid/ask margin on used gear has to be upwards of 50%, but it's tolerable since GC lets countless people try out guitars and other gear on their own and sales guys always ask if they can help you find anything. read more
