This IS WEGMANS. How can I give it less than 5 stars. ITS WEGMANS, and its less than a mile from my house!
I have been waiting YEARS, ever since word got out that Wegmans was coming to the Tysons area.
Wegmans in Sterling is PERFECT. the one in Fairfax is close to perfect and this one, its not perfect but then again if you go in knowing what your going to find, and not find, and plan your shopping experience around what they have, its great.
Pro's.
Its less than a mile away. HIP HIP HOORAY!!
For the size of it, the layout is good, not great, has some faults, but still a pro
The people who work here are what you would expect from Wegmans, they are so nice and helpful. Unlike Safeway.
BTW. RIP Safeway on Anderson. YOU ARE DEAD TO ME. The safe way has a decent variety and not a bad store, but once you go inside you have to deal with the employees and that sucks the life out of anything positive this store may have going for it.
The pre-made and to go food section is great. For the size of this location they have more here than even the Sterling location.
There probably are many more pro's but lets get to the not so great.
The layout is confusing. Just when you think you got them hang of it, your lost, and you need a map or breadcrumbs to find what your looking for.
Finding things such as baking needs, or pastas, or soup or anything like that is hard. Its like hidden between the wine section and toiletry, and in a way that its not easy to find. Frustrating actually.
Then when you find the section, they have 95% Wegmans brands and then a token brand name so you cant cant say they don't have brand name items.
Pastas, most of the pasta and sauces are Wegmans brands, which hey, they are very good, but when you have kids who want specific things or specific types of food, there are times I cant find things here.
The wine section, for the size of the store, is WAY TOO BIG. It takes up 15-20% of the store I think and for a store as small has this, its too big. Which leads to another negative I will get to soon.
The deli. The Deli is all high price luxury items, if you want to get standard cold cuts, they have lil bags that are pre-sliced and you cant get what you want and the amount you want a lot of times.
This leads me to my biggest problem with this Wegmans, It goes in toe with the way too big wine section, the Elite deli... the butcher area of the meat case.
To show you how much this store focuses too much on high price, and high dollar things... If you have a hankering for a ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY DOLLAR A POUND Wagu A5 steak. THIS IS YOUR PLACE.
Come on, ok its cool they have it. But it falls in line with you want standard beef and deli options, go someplace other than Wegmans.
I would rather see them have a standard deli like any other normal grocery store.
I would like to see a smaller wine section, broaden your G R O C E R Y S E L E C T I O N and V A R I E T Y ! ! !
I love this place, I go here more than any other grocery store, but they should brand it what it really is. For people in the McLean area that have lived in the area for 15+ years. This is more like a Giant Gourmet than a regular Wegmans. They should re-brand it. Wegmans Gourmet Market.
I hope management reads these and tell the multi million / billionaires are STUPIDLY TALKED YOU INTO this setup, to tell them to pack sand and a turn this into what Wegmans has always been. I Grocery store that is not for snobs, its not for the elite, it has great food, great variety and great prices. THIS IS NOT THAT WEGMANS.
It has great food and the prices, for the non snob items are great, but I want a REAL DELI, I want you to get rid of some of the wine and expand your FOOD. This is a GROCERY STORE RIGHT?
With the snobbery selection and the lack of what Wegmans has already stood for in variety and selection, I should give this store a 3.
But I have hope, that the Wegmans family will read these, I know i am not the only one who is disappointed with the variety. Listen to feedback and give us a real Wegmans and not a Wegmans Gourmet Market.
You have a horrible Safeway in the area. The Giant is not much better. They dont hire people who want to help, and the people who work there act like they dont want to be there.
You can CRUSH the competition and be the grocery store of choice for the Tysons area, and not the Wegmans McLean Elite Gourmet Market.
PLEASE listen. In 6 months if you dont make adjustments to what your REAL customers in the area want. Not the wants who asked you to put $160 a pound steaks and say the hell with a real deli counter, and use that to expand your selection, my rating will go down drastically.
After years of excitement and anticipation. As excited and happy I am to have you in the area, Wegmans, you let me down. read more
