I was forewarned that this was like a supermarket on steroids... Currently in love with their diet cherry wedge--grapefruit+cherry soda. Seriously, I was just happy to find a grocery store near downtown Princeton. Con: It's not within walking distance of downtown Princeton Pros: It has anything I might need which justifies a car trip, including Chili Garlic Sauce, organic foods, drugstore items, and Diet Cherry Wedge. I've boycotted Whole Foods because service is frustrating (notwithstanding the horrendous pricing), so this is a fine alternative for when I do need to pick up a car full of anything. Latest problem: I can't find it. The GPS drops me off at Home Depot instead, so I get more lightbulbs. Bad TomTom! read more

We used to go out of our way to eat lunch or dinner. Their buffet was excellent. For over a year now the quality and variety of the buffet was getting bad. Today my son and wife went for late lunch. Poor quality food. The beef was chewy, the vegetables tasteless, about six serving containers were empty. We will never come here for the buffet. One star is too high a rating based on our experience. read more

For groceries, I'll come here every so often to check out sales. Plus they have Mexican Coke available. Between WFM and Trader Joes, this is where I go for my mainstream stuff (if i haven't already hit Targét for them). Their vacuum family pack steaks are pretty good. Wet aged, but it'll do. Good deal on frozen salmon as well. They have a good deal on Black Truffle (infused) oil. For lunch, the selection gets a bit boring, and it's almost like a 'ghettoer' version of WFM. Pricing is about the same, so the only real draw for me is the new soda machines. GRAPE SPRITE. It will change your life. read more

The best place ever for groceries! This place has the feel of Whole Foods and a Weggy price. All I can say is this place you can leave with some of the tastiest deli food around. I think it's true that you can spend a small fortune here, but I assure you the choices for everything, cheeses, meats, produce organic or not, bakery treats and breads are uber fresh, the help is outstanding! Cleanliness seems top notch. My coworker told me about this place so I was game to check it out. It's become my favorite grocery store in the nation and I travel enough to know greatness when I step into it. Easy to get around inside and they have samples given out in areas like Costco. Nice! I was just ecstatic to find a place with fresh and reasonable priced items. I can easily buy all my groceries here. You can't compare their steaks or other products to a place like Winco. That would be an insult to this store. I would love to seem them open in the Northwest even though our market is saturated already. I think there would be room for these guys. Excellent premade meals in the deli area. If you are in a hurry, grab a microwaveable pasta dish. I did and it was unreal how much I enjoyed it. During my stay here for 2.5 months, I will do almost all my grocery shopping here. I have yet to check out the wine and spirits section. Almost scared that I might want to try many of their selection. If this part of the store is a reflection of the rest of it, I know I'll find some good stuff in there too. I'll be back in soon Weggys and when I leave, I will go through Weggy Withdrawal. read more

I LOVE Wegman's! In fact, I love it so much that I told my husband if we were to ever move out of the Trenton area, we'd have to be within roughly 15-20 miles of a Wegman's. Seriously. His parents live in Yonkers, NY, where they have Stew Leonard's and Fairway, but neither of those stores compares to Wegman's. We go here mainly for produce and some dairy products, although they have a decent deli department and their meats are very good quality. I especially like that the deli does half pound "grab and go" freshly pre-sliced meats. Shop Rite does something similar but they always charge at least 50 cents more per pound of meat that is pre-sliced, whereas Wegman's does not upcharge for the convenience of being able to grab some deli meat you know has been sliced that day without having to wait forever behind the five people ordering six different things each at the deli counter. I've been shopping here for several years now and I disagree with the reviewer who says Wegman's has gone downhill. If anything, they've gotten better, especially since within the last six months they've dramatically expanded their organic offerings. I used to shop between Wegman's and Shop Rite, but now I split my dollars between Wegman's and Whole Foods (because as much as I love Wegman's, they don't have enough products for our needs). Groceries at Wegman's are cheaper than Whole Foods and the produce is very reasonably priced. They have a great cheese selection and their bakery is phenomenal. For a while, we were getting fresh loaves of bakery bread every week - I highly recommend the sourdough as it's my absolute favorite (had to stop buying because it's not good for our waists!). One month, as I was reviewing my food receipts, I noticed I had been charged twice for a case of Sam Adams beer when I only bought one. I went back three weeks after the original transaction and they refunded me without a problem - that's what I call good customer service. The only thing that is kind of a pain in the butt is their 100% carding policy when buying alcohol.... but it's so minor it's hardly worth mentioning. I could go on and on about how much I love Wegman's, but I'll leave it at this - if you're in the Trenton/Princeton area, go here for your grocery needs! You won't regret it. read more

Wegmans makes me love grocery shopping. I used to consider it such a chore when I was shopping at the Acme but the atmosphere in Wegmans is so pleasant and refined. They also have some of the friendliest staff (especially behind the deli counter). Wegmans store brand products never disapoint. In fact, I usually prefer them. It gets busy during lunch time because of their great selection of prepared foods. They also have sushi, sandwiches, Chinese/Indian bar, pizza and chicken wings. They also recently added Bubble Tea to the menu at their coffee bar. How many supermarkets serve Bubble Tea?! Only one that I know of. But, the very best thing in Wegmans is their Ultimate Chocolate Cake. I read somewhere that the recipe for their cake was chosen after a contest amongst all its employees. Well, they chose wisely because it's my favorite chocolate cake of all time! Recently, they added an Ultimate White Cake to their line but it was dissappointing. The cake itself was good but the frosting, while sweet, tasted generic. Yay Wegmans!! read more

I absolutely LOVE Wegmans. Everything from their instant food section to their customer service is stellar. They also have a salad bar section with weekly specials. The wine and spirits section is generously stocked and employed with very knowledgeable staff. I also enjoy browsing their small but unique ethnic section with some harder to find items. The cheese section is also has a great variety of cheeses. I think I just really enjoy the customer service here. Everyone is so helpful in their sections, and I've never had a mediocre let alone unpleasant experience. read more

Pros: Large selection of dried foods and they have a liquor store. Cons: The meat and cheese selections are better at McCaffrey's, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. The bakery department was fine. The quality could further improve by benchmarking McCaffrey's and Whole Foods. The organic selection could be larger. They have a good loyalty program. It is easy and free to park. read more

Great prepared foods section and excellent selection on just about everything with fair prices. Plus, there's an attached Wine and Spirits. Oh, and the chocolated-covered peanut butter pretzels are a must-try! read more

Wow, I miss Wegmans. I have lived in Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Princeton; this has been by far the best grocery store I've ever used. They have a wonderful selection, beyond what most offer. They have quite a bit of international food, as well as huge selections of meat and cheese. The produce is great. They also have some decently priced, delicious prepared (or take home and cook) meals. Their "Wegman's food" generic brand is really good - way better than most. And their prices are really reasonable. I really miss having a local Wegman's. read more

So I had no idea we could review the big-name places like Wegman's but its still mom n' pop compared to all the others... I mean I definitely wouldn't review a Pathmark in Union City or Shoprite... But Wegman's has a flair that deserves a Yelp vote-- their deserts, their breads, great supermarket selection, kosher options... Their lunch options can be a LITTLE better... although they have an outside bbq ready-to-eat food-- I am not sure if they change around their items for lunch but the day I went, their hot options were mostly chinese (not very authentic flavors) and Indian (also not so authentic)... I've heard good things about salads and sandwiches so will probably do cold-type options next time- seems more Wegman's appropriate... not sure if Betty and Bob (NOT stereotyping, just sayin') can cook Szechuan chicken the way I've had it in Chinatown Also it must be warned that this place is no cheap option. read more

If you have a service animal/emotional support dog do not bring it with you at Wegmans in Princeton because not only will you be followed around and under a microscope but you will be treated like absolute shit. Now I warned about my dog jumping up by the food counters which I totally hundred percent understand when we were in check out and the very nice cashier called my dogs name just to say hi my dog decided to jump up by the CHECKOUT COUNTER and then I was asked to leave Wegmans in the middle of a transaction. Absolute bullshit and even when I said oh I'm sorry sir I thought that was just the food counter he said well it's the checkout counter food goes on there made up some bullshit excuse. read more

This puts the "super" in supermarkets. It is the supermarket that all other supermarkets look up to. This place has everything you could ever imagine. Just think of something. Anything. Oh, Wegmans, how you now torment me by sending coupons and catalogs to my home in Colorado! I wish I could just drive down the street and pick up some of your mild brie and petite toasts! I wish I could go to your olive bar and grab some pesto and roasted peppers! I miss your amazing selection of fruits and vegetables unlike any other grocery store! I miss your international food section with everything I needed to make a great Thai meal. I have been a faithful customer of Wegmans since college in upstate NY. I was thrilled when I moved to Princeton and found that I could continue my happy shopping experiences. Not only do they have pretty much anything you could think of, but they also have several prepared items to go or to just throw in the oven. Mmm... There is also a podium near the front where you can go ask employees where certain products are located if you're entirely overwhelmed. The Wegmans brand is cheaper and just as good (sometimes even better) than comparable big-name brands. The liquor store has a great selection of wine from around the world as well as a pretty expansive selection of local beers. Avoid the busy times (5PM on weekdays and Saturday/Sunday afternoons) so that you have the best selection and maneuverability. read more

This review is for the wine and spirits shop. I just have to say WOW! Not only do they have an excellent selection the staff is beyond helpful. This is the place for food shopping. Danny Wegman has made this grocery store resemble a Mahattan street. With fruits and vegetables, raw seafood and meats. Even chinese food. Of course it's a fantasy Manhattan street but who gives a sh*t. If you are looking for that primo cut of steak, some hard to find lamb or scottish smoked salmon, look no further. Good ole Wegman's has it. And nice looking mommy's pushing shopping carts to boot. After all, you'r e in a suburb of Princeton. Do you know a grocery store that can seat 150 people for lunch and serve them a hot cooked food or fresh made sushi? Try a Danny's sub for $7, or the chinese buffet. After you've had your fill, head into the liquor store for some fine wine and beer. But the real reason you came here was to shop, and so you shall. Try using a small cart, you won't go above $300 by doing that. Good luck and enjoy! read more

When the first Wegmans appeared in New Jersey I was so excited that I drove from Holmdel, NJ just to shop there. Having grown up in Central New York I have come to really miss Wegmans when I moved to New Jersey. Wegmans more than gives Whole Foods a run for the money. I have a Whole Foods close to me but I never go. If Wegmans was the same distance away I would drive by the A&P and Shop Rite to go there. In fact I do drive several A&Ps and Shop Rites to shop at the Manalapan and Ocean Wegmans. The only real complaint I have heard about Wegmans is that they tend to feature their own house brand products over the national brands. I do not find this to be a big problem since I often prefer Wegmans brands to the National Brands. It is kind of funny that Wegmans are big deals in New Jersey but they are all over the Syracuse area. read more

Wegmans, you are the bomb. How do they do it? I find myself in here every few days and each time I go I am filled with excitement. This place has it all. Amazing bakery, produce, meats, wine, organic crap. You name it, they got it. Good pizza and their sandwiches are just the best. Here are my not so favorite parts of this store: -this place can be a zoo during the weekends. People are so effing rude in this location too (not the employees but the actual customers). Folks in Princeton tend to not like using phrases such as "excuse me" or "I'm sorry". Just be prepared to cuss under your breath if you come on a weekend as you try to maneuver your cart around the store. -the checkout lanes are too small and the carts are too big. It's not that big of a deal though. -the hot food and food behind the case are meh. They can definitely step it up here. Other than that, I love Wegmans! read more

Store is under construction prepared food area. I was looking for a roasted chicken which they did not have available at 6 p.m. Store employee said they would be available in 20 minutes. The earlier reviews say it all. Nice selection of produce, meat, and general groceries at competitive prices. The store is very crowded on the weekends. A good time to shop is Monday or Tuesday evenings. read more

Pros: Solid, solid, solid food at solid solid rock solid prices. None of this 11 / $4 weekly special BS that they pull at so many other grocery stores. You go there, you buy the product, you know that they're charging the basic low price for every item in the store. I completely trust the store brand (except chocolate chips that melt too easily.) The meat is just good meat. I have a family of five and we spent about $700 - $800 a month there but this fed my wife and three growing boys a reliable variety of good food. We never had to plan our menus around what's on sale. We go, we buy, we eat, our kids grow. I'm from the West Coast and I had never seen anything like it, so efficient and reliable. I moved back to the West Coast and I miss this plane more than any establishment - I'm back to guessing games and the standard chain grocery stores over here. I debated between four and five stars. I finally settled on four because of a couple drawbacks. Short story, too big, too popular. You can't go there without expecting to spend at least an hour. You drive around the parking lot, you park, you walk, you go through all the aisles (they occasionally would move stuff around) to find what you want, and then when your cart is full, you stand in line for 10 minutes. Is it worth saving $50 every trip? Definitely. They run a good business and it draws crowds. read more

I didn't even know there was a pharmacy in Wegmans. I'm usually only in the Market Cafe' section where the prepared foods are, but the grocery section is huge and provides a great selection. Wegmans really is a super supermarket. I've also been to the newer store in Mt. Laurel. This is the place I usually go to when I want some really good to top notch prepared foods. My favorites are the turkey subs, jumbo grilled shrimp (when I want to splurge), sea scallops, crab cakes and the bagels. The pizza is pretty good too when you don't want to spend too much. I'll also gravitate towards the Chinese buffet which generally includes several Thai selections. The various sushi rolls are average to ok. There's also a great selection of cakes, cookies and desserts (fruit tarts!). The prepared veggie dishes are also really good. The autumn harvest grilled vegetable mix is probably my favorite. As big as it is, it does usually get pretty crowded on weekends and for some reason people like to block the aisles with their carts, but I guess that happens everywhere. Anyway, the food is definitely worth it. read more

The store has gone downhill quickly. I used to love shopping at Wegmans as they carried so many things, but now I can barely do any shopping there. They have a very limited selection of items. They carry a lot of their own brand, but when it comes to brands I actually want to buy they will carry only one or two styles/flavors even if there are dozens of flavors. There is very little variety. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it seems that every time I go to shop the fruits and vegetables section is empty. It usually looks like a mob went through and took everything. It doesn't matter what day I go or what time, it's always the same situation and I don't know why that is. I was there last night and I couldn't reach a large part of the shelves as they had carts out with all the items they were going to stock at some point. There was no one around to help and I had to maneuver around carts full of boxes to get what I needed. I understand that they need to re-stock, but why block the aisles when no one is working on it. Can't they find another place to put their stock until it gets worked on? It was very hard to do any shopping. The fresh baked section is still pretty good, but that's about it and probably the only things I will continue to buy there. For everything else I rather go elsewhere. read more

Wegmans - Cafe au lait - Grocery Near Me - Princeton, New Jersey

Wegmans is simply the greatest grocery store in the world. The selection of packaged goods is vast. The produce is excellent. The organic section is sizable. It has a beer and wind store attached with amazing top quality beer selection. But the real reason to go is for the prepared food in the "Food Hall" section. The cheeses, the fresh baked breads, the pizza, the hoagies, the chinese buffet, and the prepared refrigerated food are all great. Additionally the staff at wegmans is as good as it gets. There are always plenty of people working, and it is usually clean (the seating section upstairs at peak times can get a little messy) everywhere else downstairs is spotless. Clean, and nice bathrooms. When I take visitors to Wegmans, they are always blown away. If I ever move to a new town, I would heavily lean towards places with a Wegmans nearby! read more

I am developing a bit of a love hate relationship with this store. Since my shoulder injury I have been using Fresh Direct, amazon and iherb for my food, snacks and drugstore items and doing small (small for me is less than $100) orders from Wegmans once or twice a month and haven't been to Whole Foods for some time. But I am pretty happy, here is the beakdown: Cons: As someone mentioned in another review the hot foods bar is filled with junk food, yuck. The place is a zoo on weekends; I prefer to go in the evening. Endless renovations with a limited bakery, when will they be finished? Pros: Great pharmacy with competent and friendly staff. I really like the pre-cut vegetables, bean salads, red jacket juices, olive/hummus bar, organic eggs, vegetarian/organic frozen meals, gluten free bagels and they carry my favorite Kombucha drink. Their produce section is very good. Most of the employees are very friendly and helpful. Ample seating area! Very tiny ethnic hair section- but they sell As I am and Shea Moisture which is nice. Maybe they could expand it a bit. They sell lotto! read more

I went here when I was off on a Friday and was pretty surprised by this store. First and foremost, it is very large and even has a pretty substantial liquor section which was really great because I was able to get my groceries and some wine to go with it as well. I did have issues finding some non food items and had to go over to Target though. read more

I'm over Wegmens. I used to love shopping here because of the kid care drop off. I'd grab an overpriced latte from their coffee shop and get my shopping done. But they closed the kid care center. From there things have gone down hill. The first straw was during crab fest last year when I was charged for 2 dozen instead of 1 dozen crabs. I didn't notice with all the other items until I got home, and when I tried get get a refund for the $39, the customer service desk basically called me a liar. The second straw was the Thanksgiving dinner we ordered. What a disappointment. One of my guests compared it to nursing home food. The third and final straw is all the renovations they're doing. Literally for the past three months everything is constantly moving around and there is no one to help and judging from their dedication of space to alcohol, you can see what their priorities are. I spend most of my shopping trip trying to find stuff that is organized in ways that doesn't make sense (pasta sauce in international foods, bulk candy in the organic foods aisle, dairy products spread all over the store). I asked one of their staff where the soy creamer moved to. He brought me to the coconut milk section. I pointed out the difference and he directed me to the milk section. When I told him I already checked there, he looked at me, shrugged his shoulders, and walked away. It's time for me to do the same. read more

Moving away from the area made me appreciate this Wegmans more than ever. Nobody in my new area carries the selection and quality of this store's produce, let alone at similar prices. The vast selection of products, including a good selection of wine and beer, is similarly something I haven't been able to replicate. The bread was excellent as well. If I could bring one store from Princeton up to my current digs, this Wegmans would be it. read more

This is the place I go when I need a happy. This is hands down the best grocery store I have ever been to. I started shopping at one in Ithaca, and was so glad when I moved down to Princeton and saw they they have a Wegmans too. The produce is fresh and they have a little of almost everything. It's almost like a Whole Foods lite in how much they have in organic, but the prices are just normal grocery store prices. And I love that they have clean cut vegetables, especially the clean cut kale. The mussels in the seafood section are extremely fresh. Didn't like mussels until I got them from Wegmans. It's also great to have a wine shop connected to the store, in case you just got the lobster and needed a buttery chard ASAP. They even have Finger Lakes wine! The prepared foods are all very good. Especially the sushi section, which is a surprise since supermarket sushi is generally very, very average. The bakery is fantastic, the cheese section is fantastic (though their selection has gotten smaller over the years; maybe why some people have said they are going downhill), the deli is fantastic. Wegmans is fantastic. All of the Wegmans brand stuff is really good too. The ONLY thing that I found that wasn't the case was the Wegmans yogurt. You're still better off buying Oikos or something. But the Wegmans brand pasta is the best dried pasta I've ever had. The Wegmans prosciutto is better than the name brand ones. Wegmans ice cream has great flavors. But yeah, Wegmans is the only thing that I will miss when I move away from Princeton. read more
