Used this Trader Joe's plenty of times in the past as it is one of the better locations in New Jersey. This location is in a good spot away from too busy stores. And it's pretty big with a great selection of food to choose from like every Trader Joe's. Has the same ambiance as every location from having beautiful murals to match the setting of the location, to having amazing outstanding service, to being a bigger location than most other Trader Joe's. This is a good location to visit and buy groceries at. The only criticism with Trader Joe's and its the same as every other location I have been to in my life. Is that the produce may spoil quickly due to too much plastic packaging, of course the baked pastries spoiling quickly as they're all frozen for shipping which traps condensation, and then of course the wait times could be hectic as it always gets busy at Trader Joe's. read more

Had a craving for Trader Joe's sweet plantain chips and I decided to take a gamble running to the Princeton location this past Friday when everyone in the state of NJ was panicking and buying up all the food because of the expected blizzard lol. All hands were on deck from an employee standpoint and they were actively restocking shelves, helping customers and ringing up long lines of customers (all w that expected Trader Joe's joy). I was able to get my sweet plantain chips and surprisingly a haul of other items (mostly frozen and produce) and was in and out much faster than expected to be. I enjoyed shopping in this location yesterday. I was attending as event in the plaza and arrived early. I needed to pick up a jar of the bourbon vanilla bean paste as I forgot to grab it on Saturday. I've. Even meaning to go to this TJ location since I moved back east from Cali, 4 years ago. Today was the day and I'm so happy I got stocked up on my fave $2 buck Chuck which is now $4.50, so $5 buck Chuck now, lol. IDC it's worth it! The staff was super friendly and this is one of those spacious locations which I love. One reason I don't frequent TJ in my area is because they are smaller and it seems like everyone is making a mad dash to their preferred items. FYI SOCIAL AWARENESS IS DEAD! I digress.... It's ample with lots of fresh everything and the parking lot is ample as well. Tom in the wine area suggested some to try at $5 that were from Chile and Spain! If you are like me I shop at Trader Joe's 1-2x/week. When I go abroad to visit friends I oftentimes buy gifts from TJs (and they request certain items from TJs). I come to this Princeton location once in few months from Philly specifically to get some of the liquor items. As far as I know this location is the only one around here that sells liquor. You know how TJs come out with their seasonal items, they do that with their liquor also. Now is the season to get their Boozy liquor truffles, so I got multiple packages to give it out to people. Aside from the liquor section this place usually have newly released items pretty fast (I think a lot of the new items are released from California first). I think this store can use a little expanding (even though it is a good size). Every time I go here it is pretty packed with customers, and I see many people buying boxes and boxes of wine! read more

This location was nice. They have a nice set up for the store. I stopped by this location while I'm in Princeton this week. In the state of New Jersey, they have recently passed a ban on single use plastic bags. So if you're visiting or new here, bring your own bag. This location sells reusable bags you can buy. I got one and it was perfect. The staff was friendly here. Each section seemed very well organized and well stocked. This Trader Joe's interior set up was very nice. I think it was a combination of brighter colors of walls and floors. The aisles were spaced out well and the floor plan seemed to be more open than a lot of other locations I've been to. My initial review is still pertinent, but TJ's has become a fav grocery store in recent days. The crowds are still there but possibly know the store better? There's been less gridlock in the aisles. And regardless of the amount of customers, checkout lines never get long. I've also been discovering more and more items that I really enjoy. Perhaps the biggest reason for upgrading this is the folks who work there. I've not seen this level of job satisfaction and great customer service in ANY other grocery stores. Story time: my mom came to this Trader Joe's after a very stressful and drama-filled last day of school (she is a teacher), she got some flowers and groceries and when she got to the register, the employee (possibly the manager) asked her how her day was, took the flowers from her basket and handed it to my mom telling her thank you and how much she is appreciated as a teacher! Also, she didn't charge her for it. This is the most convenient and friendliest staff grocery store I ever found! Every time you ask for assistance, employees will go their way out to help you! This is the best Trader Joe's I visit relative to my prior experiences shopping at Trader Joe's in NYC. There isn't a Trader Joe's in NYC that doesn't make me annoyed with having to shop there. All if not most of the time I must say it's the dam people that shop there that are annoying. The sheer fact that there are less people here is definitely the reason for the more pleasant shopping experience. I've never waited more than one-two deep on a checkout line here. Definitely not the same experience in NYC. I would shop here every day if it were closer. The employees make this market extra special. All super markets should take lessons from Trader Joe's. The staff does not point and tell you things like "to the left of isle 3"...they actually walk you to the product you are looking for!! Makes you feel like they value your business. Love that. TJs implemented safety covid-19 measures. It takes 15-30 mins to wait on line to get inside the store as they limit the number of people entering and in the store. They have signs to require customers to wear a face covering or mask to enter the store. There are wipes at the entrance of the store. Staff wipe the carts so it was a very efficient process. There is a plastic shield attached to the counter between the customer and the cashier. The cashier also let you stand by the wall away from them when they scan and pack your grocery. It's for safety and I appreciate the check out process. I like how they have organic products from bathroom items to food, it's all very reasonable priced. I get produces and snacks from there that I don't get from other grocery stores. Unfortunately they didn't sell the ube pancake mix and ube ice cream at this location. Otherwise, we like their fruits and veggies selections, frozen appetizers and frozen meals and bathroom shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom is very clean, they have TP, hand soap and paper towels. I remembered it was very hot last summer and people waited on line six feet apart (they had signs on the concrete floor outside BoF the store). Two TJs employees came out and handed people small bottled of water. This is a testament of how they value their customers and why we shop at Tjs at this location. read more

I actually enjoy grocery shopping but the miniscule footprint of this location makes it an infrequent stealth experience only when looking for something specific - slip in and slip out before I get lost in the scrum. Oh boy. I FELL IN LOVE WITH TRADER JOE. This is now my favourite grocery store on the planet and I am so sad I don't have one close to me at home in Toronto. We ended up here twice on our recent visit to New Jersey and I loved it so so much. The people who work here are so ridiculously helpful and polite, it is cray. I picked up a bunch of awesome sounding food stuffs to take home to Canada, including the world famous Speculoos cookie spread, their killer authentic salsa, and Indonesian sambal. I also received an insider tip that their dried organic baby pineapples are a must buy however they are seasonal and were unavailable when we visited. As many people do, I ride the circuit when grocery shopping; going from Trader Joe's to Whole Foods on a bi-weekly basis to secure basic victuals for home. Yes. I live in Bucks County, Pa., but find that this is the best way to buy the organic and well priced food wanted in my kitchen. I have learned from experience to avoid going here on weekends, as that is when TJ's is the most crowded, and the mad scramble atmosphere there can be a little off putting. I know it is part of their east coast culture to use a small floor plan rather than the larger spaces available in the western stores, but I for one, would not mind if they increased the size of the retail space to make it less the feeling of a hyperactive ant colony approaching frenzy. Still, the place is never slow paced, and I will continue to shop here for all those basic and esoteric items that always seem to populate their shelves and refrigeration units. The produce is very good, if limited, and the private label cereals, olive oils, even frozen dumplings, are higher quality that what can be found in the equivalent mass markets like Acme, Shop Rite and Giant. Having an alcohol section is a big hit, and takes up a large amount of space, but it beats the other big box warehouse outlets in price, if not variety. It would be great if Trader Joe's came to Newtown, where the demographics are similar to the West Windsor area, but there is still room to grow and the roads are not as crowded. I have spoken with their development people, but it seems they use outdated census information in making their placements. Their loss. I used to shop at Trader Joe's back in NY and I was very pleased to find this branch in Princeton. The location, near Whole Foods and Wegmans, is very convenient if you're out for a morning of shopping, and there's lots of parking. In general, Trader Joe's is a great spot for quick, all natural meal components. For example, I recently picked up some wild tuna from Spain, kale/spinach bites, an amazing frozen tortellini from Italy. Quality, all great, prices very competitive. They also have more and more organic stuff there every time I pop in, which is nice. Hopefully that will continue. The one thing I don't like about this branch is that it's a godforsaken zoo every single time I've stopped by. It's nearly impossible browse around and move through the aisles because it's so jammed up. Even though I love their stuff, I often bypass them in favor of other stores because I don't want to deal with the predictable crush of humanity there. Not your average Trader Joe's (at least compared to the ones in PA) because this one has wine and beer! It's annoying that the no left turn in Jersey rule makes this store somewhat of a pain to get to, but it's worth the trip. For a Jersey grocery store, I'm sure it's on the smaller side, but I think they have everything you need. The TJ's brand cheetos are delicious, and they have really good and inexpensive cheeses here. The olive oil is also a good deal. I'm not a fan of their produce because it doesn't tend to be the freshest, and it's usually over packaged in styrofoam. The main reason to come here is the booze, though. They have really good wines that are so cheap. The way they do this is they partner with vineyards that only sell at TJs and cut out all the distributor fees. The TJ's brand coastal wine (which I think is a Syrah) is delicious. They have the brand Blue Fin which has a Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir. They are great table wines that are good to drink with dinner, and for $5, you can't go wrong. Most of the wines they have here are under $15, and I've only really been disappointed with a couple, but I've tried probably 50 different types over the years. They also have inexpensive 6-packs of decent beers for $8-$10. I don't buy beer as often, but I like the Kennebunkport Brewing Company blueberry beer and some of the TJs brand beers are good. read more

The produce is amazing and certainly worth the money you pay for it. Suggestion for food include- sweet potato gnocchi, trio quinoa, vegetable samosa, all of their coffee, lactose free vanilla creamer, mango juice, cookie ice cream sandwiches... I could go on and on. I was not as frequent a customer the last time I reviewed TJs back in 2010. Now that it's on my commute home I'm a regular customer. Their inventory is limited by space (they've expanded into the neighboring space at least once), seasonality (which is great), and availability (it's a very busy location without much room for stock, so they run out of things on a pretty regular basis). The main point of my original review - frying cheese - is no longer stocked at all! With all those downsides, how did I find a way to give an extra star? Easy. The staff is great. Helpful and attentive. The location is conveniently accessed from either side of Rt1. The demo stand is great (OMG FREE SNACKS AND COFFEE YES PLEASE). Sometimes the produce (and general) selection is limited. If that is the trade off for having fresher produce and product overall I can live with it. If I need something that desperately I'll go to my normal supermarket (or Whole Foods if I feel like selling a kidney). read more

I've utilized TJ's for select goods at a reasonable price, but ended up doing more shopping at other grocery shops along the one. I'm definitely grateful to have one of these in the area, but it is not my primary grocery destination. Things I like here: their salads, some of their produce can be at a good price; their 99 cent pizza dough is great. They have some quality frozen desserts which are perfect for entertaining. One of the best place to buy reasonably priced, innovative and delicious organic foods around here! The dried fruits, cereals, pesto, pasta, rice and frozen convenience dishes have been great. At the catering section, you can taste the truffle in the porcini mushroom and truffle triangliolini. The porcini mushrooms are finely grounded. I personally prefer the "Buitoni" mushroom ravioli, which mushrooms aren't so finely grounded. We would also recommend the convenient and delicious frozen Chicken Gyoza potstickers.
